His hat was pulled low over his bright orange hair. As a toddler, Kyo hadn't understood his older sister's taunts about being a 'carrot top' but now that he'd gotten a little older, he had finally realized that it wasn't nice, which was followed quickly by embarresment over his orange orange hair. After the last visit to the Center, Imbri had opted not to go in and wandered out behind the large Center, in a park-like area. She held firmly onto Kyo's hand, not wanting him to wander off the path. A sudden wind picked up, blowing the small boy's hat off and he tugged his hand out of Imbri's, running to get it.

Shippo canted his head as he saw the hat blowing toward him, being chased by a boy about his age. With out much thought the boy grabbed the item from the air, and began to look it over curiously. He'd not seen this thing before, and wondered what it was.

Kyo skidded to a hault a few feet before the boy, now holding his hat.
"Gimme," he muttered, examining his shoes. "I need it back."
The little boys voice was low and mumbled, as though he didn't want to much attention brought to himself (or more specifically, his head).
"Kyo," Imbri called warningly. "That's no way to talk to someone new."
The orange hair blurred as he shook his head. "Don't care."

Shippo nodded and held it out to the other boy. He wouldn't keep it from the boy, not if he needed the item.
"Ano...what is that anyway?" The boy asked curiously. "I haven't seen anything like it before..." It was the truth, he hadn't actually seen a hat before, his dad lived in the midst of the woods, and the only place he was really allowed to venture was the ACC, and he hadn't seen anyone else though with one of those on.

Was this kid joking? Who had never seen a hat before?
Weirdo.
"It's a hat," he replied, jamming it hard onto his head. Lets see it escape now! "How have you never seen a hat before?" He tucked up the showing bits of hair, before putting his arms behind his back and rocking backwards on his feet.
It was easy for him to be so scornful of someone who hadn't seen a hat before. Even though he didn't even consider it, if Kyo didn't own a hat, he probably wouldn't know what it was either. But what did that matter?

Shippo simply shrugged in response, not really minding the slight animosity. After all, what he'd put up with from Hiten before made this seem like nothing.
"Dad never wears anything on his head by masks, and no one else is ever really around lately...at least, not when I am..." The fox boy answered. "I just haven't seen anything quite like it...why do you wear that anyway...what's it for?"
((Gomen on taking so long on the reply...I kinda got caught up in the whole water war madness...))
