In our band, you have to be IN band to be in color guard. When its not marching season, I play my flute. So we are technically classified as in the band, since we preform with them too. Also I would just like to take the time to say that if anyone has a problem with us being "a part of the band" that i will personally track them down and beat them with my 6 foot aluminum flag pole! jk!

This was my first time in color guard., and no one appreciates what we do! Everyone says that we aren't apart of the band. We are like the special affects in an action movie without that then it is just a movie nothing special. And plus color guard has to put in the most effort. We have to go to band camp one week earlier with the percussion. My sisters don't even understand and they're in band! scream gonk
I wouldn't necessarily say that guard does the most work. True, they do a lot, but I marched with alto sax and I'm doing winterguard, and yeah, it's a lot of work, but so is marching with an instrument. It may be more work in certain places, but there's other places that's more work with an instrument.

Regardless, guard is definitely part of the band, no questions asked.
