Character Name: Kieran "Kelly" Don Glachie
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Sexual Orientation: Gay
Occupation: "B-A" Thief
Thieves are generally ranked by four levels (D, C, B, A). "D" is your average, everyday starting pickpocket or street walker. The quality of "D" rank is the lowest. A rank up, "C" moves a little in quality (they are the house bandits and highway men) but they work only for themselves. The "B" rank, however, is full of competent men and women can be paid to do all sorts of dirty jobs. "A" is nicknamed the 'assassin' rank because most of their work requires no eye witnesses--it also is characterized by the highest pay, bigger targets, and a lower life-span for the thief. Except for rank "D", the scale of thievery does not work on a talent basis, like most jobs do in real life. Their rank depends on what type of work they do in the streets and which contacts they hold; sometimes the ranking is self-created, other times it is just speculation by others (especially by their clients). Kelly never ranked himself, but because he was willing to do anything for money, he is considered a "B-A" thief. Not taking into account that some are ranked in two levels, the percentage of thieves in each rank are as follows; (D: 30%) (C: 40%) (B: 25%) (A: 5%).
Lifestyle: Kelly lives rich and fast. His home is anywhere, everywhere, anytime; he's sort of everyone's worst squatter nightmare. He lived in the rafters of a church one year, a construction zone for a month, a collage for five years, one the government building's closets for a day (didn't really count, he was caught really fast, but it makes a hell of a story). Generally he's in the streets. Or on the roof over the heads of unsuspecting villagers. He's been found in a dog house. Really. Although his job is very dangerous and he's been put in jail a lot, it's for the little things like loitering; some suspect it's for fun, because Kelly has never been caught red-handed in a situation that could really get him in trouble. At the jails, he gets free food and a free place to stay; so, hey, he figures, why not? The regulars call him 'jailbird'... partly in jest. But in jail, Kelly really rules the nest. He can charm any prisoner and guard, he can also waste anyone, anytime his mood changes and he doesn't like that person anymore. Those souls are gone before sunrise. After he kills, Kelly's out of there -- he is a master, leaving no concrete evidence, no eye wittiness... just a warning. And he's never been caught.
Because he never went to school, Kelly can not read or write or do even the most basic mathematics. His regular contacts know this, and use this against him to get more money out of situations then they should, or to mock him from time to time. Kelly usually spends his money too fast, having no management skills. Most of the time he is broke. This is part of the reason why he does not have a home to go back to.
Personality:His motto is "I better live like a king today, because I might be dead tomorrow" -- he makes fun of the scrooge-like 'richies' (most of them his own clients) whenever he gets the chance. Kelly's humorous, easy-going and friendly most of the time. The other fourth of a time he'd rather slit your throat then look at you. Kelly is not kind. He has no connection with humans in general and no pity for anyone. On the other hand, he is not self-pittying in the least and is pretty satisfied with his life. He is flighty with all types of loyalty; business- and 'boyfriend'-types especially. If he is a lover of someone or a 'friend' of someone, chances are it's not that he actually likes that person; but that he can get something out of it. His contacts are his lovers, male or female, and he uses that against the other tiny percentage of "A" thief types. When Kelly gets tired of that, he drops his partners like a rock, and moves on to the next town.
Appearance:He generally dresses up flamboyantly; he nearly always wears high heels; and his favorite nicknack is a little tiara he stole from a fat old lady ("she's way past her tiara-wearing days" he'd often say, shrugging off guilt). He's particularly fond of long, white ladies gloves and any jewels he can get his hands on. Because of his naturally pale appearance, he can get away with all sorts of combinations.
One of his favorites is the outfit he is shown in with picture, though it's much less colorful then his usual wear:hereSomething more or less usual:hereHistory:Kelly was born into an upper middle class life by his father, a doctor suffering from bipolar disorder, and his father's young wife. He was raised lovingly and had a normal bringing-up. When his father was actually diagnosed with the 'illness', his mother was disgusted and divorced him. Kelly, then four, went with her back to his grandparents house. However he did not understand why his father wasn't there, and ran off to find him. Even at that young of an age, he showed an unusual knack for staying out of sight, and (although he never found his father) joined a small group of thieves who raised him and helped him gain his first step into the 'art of stealing'. One of the reasons he is so good is because he started so young. As for his mother, she looked for him for ten years before finally giving him up as a lost cause. Kieran is documented as dying from an unknown accident. (Kelly doesn't use his first name for this reason)
As for ever trying to find his father again, that part of Kelly died with Kieran. He just lost interest; not his fault, he only knew him for four years. He does not have any desire to see his mother again. To Kelly, they were merely the 'things' that birthed him; his 'family' is his 'job'.

Other:Insomniac Kelly suffers from insomnia, a sleep disorder where he cannot remain asleep for a reasonable period of time. He's never examined it or had it examined, but insomnia is common on the streets where fear, stress, anxiety and death are common themes. He actually suffers from none of these, but has inherited bipolar disorder, which also is a cause for insomnia. It does not help that Kelly does not consume a variety of foods. When he can manage to get to sleep, his dreams are vivid, intense, and remain the only thing that frightens him to this day.
Bipolar disorderA cyclic illness, inherited, Kelly experiences manic states where he is euphoric; where he feels extremely happy and does not fear, nor care, about death.
