boconnotto Exacto Knife boconnotto:
Thank you~ I think know how to take my bust measurements. And waist, but I'm not to sure. Other than that, I have no idea. Bust should be the fullest point [Usually at the nipples unless you've got some funky shaped boobs]. Waist is the smallest point, usually right at your belly button. Hips are about seven inches below that [usually the distance between your thumb and pinkie if you do the surfer thing with your hand so that those two fingers are the only ones up].
As for sleeves and lengths, that sometimes depends on the garment or the person making the garments [and in the case of skirts, whether you've got a big booty or not], so ask them how they want it done before you do it. (:
Ohhh okay. Thank you. <333 I get paid today, I'm going to see if I can find a good custom job, if not I'm gonna save up for a dress, instead of a skirt, and blouse.~

rice cake face I have the same expperiance ever single time I visit the site. I did buy a bow though, for about 50 dollars. It's suck adorable fabric! 3nodding
I do sew most of my clothes. Only bad thing is, if we lived in Japan, they seem to be very picky, and like to see name brand lolita outfits. Acording to a friend of mine, They don't usually accept you into full lolita-hood untill you do. crying
 Lie.
In Japan it doesn't really matter if you're wearing name-brand or not. If you look good, they'll like you. Besides, most of the time you can barely tell the handmades from the brands, people who are seriously into loli will find a way to make their outfits perfect over there.
I've gone out in Harajuku and Yoyogi park in both handmade and brand name (A complete Moitie outfit, and then a mix of Bodyline/Angelic Pretty) and I got equally great responses from people.
Exacto, you do NOT need brand names to be lolita. stare

Not really. I went into Lolita knowing that all stores only sell one size, and I'm about 8" taller the average japanese lady, so I pretty much knew I wasn't going to be able to buy any Loli to begin with. I just stick with sewing, which for me is still a pain to buy japanese patterns that are still to short and need altering. But in the end, it is cheaper (you could probably bang out 4-5 outfits in what it would cost to buy one all name-brand), and all of my cloths actually fit. 3nodding

you really shouldn't try and start off with brand names first. I only own like 5 brand name things and they're all from Mary Magdalene and I've been a loli for about 2 years><
As long as the clothes look really good on you, it doesn't matter where you buy it. Just make sure it's not cheap fabric, some lolis are snobs about that xp

As a seamstress using inferior quality fabric makes your dress seem well inferior. The fabric tends to be harder to sew, the thread frays easily, is most of the time see through, and makes all the hard work you put into seem like nothing. As a seamstress I don't suggest buying fabric which costs like $10 a yard but do choose fabric that won't make all the hard work you put into go to waste because the fabric was cheap and bad looking sad .

The prices of some brand name dresses just makes me feel like I'll never actually get something. And I can't sew. Pwn@Me neutral

The thing is most people always hear about the expensive outfits people buy but never the good cheaper ones. I saw decora.doll once display a beautiful IW JSK she got for 58 on Yahoo!Japan and I recently bought a Meta Floral print OP for 85. Brand is attainable to cheap if you look around.

Generally, shopping services will buy things off of Japanese auction sites for you. It might be worth it to look into it.

I know how you feel. I'm 14 and I utterly love lolita but I don't have a lot of lolita clothing. I improvise by sewing some of my clothes but it takes a long long time. As soon as I'm old enough to get a job next year, I'm going to get my own eBay account and use my pay to buy stuff off there. Ah, it'll be heaven. ^_^
