I moved into my dorm.

Feel free to ask any questions, high-schoolers.

Oh, and I might not respond 'til about maybe a week later. Dormitories don't get Internet yet 'til ze contracts/MAC address thingies are dealt with.

What does your room look like? (I've seen Johns Hopkins dorms, I want to know about yours.)
Do you have a roommate?
Do you have anything to do yet?
Do you get to bother your brother?
What have you been up to while you're lacking Internet?
Are you making lots of friends?

M'kay. I'll stop for now.
By the way: Grats on getting out of the house.

Oooh. Do you get to sleep by the window?
What floor are you on?
Do you get a mini fridge?
Why didn't you tell me you were leaving sooner?!
Is your roommate Asian?
Are you going to have babies with him?
How are your dormmates?
Is your RA strict?
Have you gone to any nerd parties yet?
Hmm?

I'm back from Newport, btw.

He ain't answered yet. D:

You have an air conditioner?
Is it a good one?
How is the food on campus?
Are you allowed to take food out of the cafeteria and bring it back to your room with you?
Are there nice places to eat off campus?
Are the squirrels on campus really fat?
Have you tried chasing rodents or birds around yet?
Did you bring enough socks?
Are you changing your underwear daily?
What... is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow? A European one.

My room? I'll take pictures later. That should sum it up.

I have a roommate.

Welcome Week is this week. That means Cal puts up lots of events to draw in new freshmen to various activities to introduce them to various buildings, get them free food, and orient them around the campus.

I get to bother my brother whenever I like, assuming that he keeps his cellphone on.

I was talking to my friends before I configured this computer for Internet.

I hope I'm making lots of friends. I know most of my suitemates now, and a couple of people outside of this place.

Thank you, and someday you too, Firi, will get out of the house. You'll love it.

I don't get to sleep by the window.

I am on the fourth floor.

I don't have a mini fridge.

I'm ninja like that. Well, more like being Asian Xumbra.

My roommate is not Asian.

I'm not going to have babies with him.

My residential advisor is pretty laid-back.

No nerd parties yet. I don't plan to attend parties at all.

Welcome back from Newport, Ocean.

I don't have an air conditioner, but I brought my own fan.

And it is a good one.

I haven't tried the campus food yet since I don't have a Cal 1 Card. I forgot to bring my government issued ID (high school ID), so my parents are going to mail it express to my dorm. I should be able to get it either tomorrow or the day after that.

Taking food out of the cafeteria is considered theft. Don't believe me? I'll quote:

Dining Regulations: Removal of food/beverages
Removal of any food or beverage other than a dessert, or a to-go meal from the dining commons will be considered theft and addressed through the residential conduct process. Please also note that the removal of any item from the Den, Bear Market, Golden Bear, The Pro Shop, Terrace Cafe, Pat Brown's Grill or Ramona's Cafe is considered theft and is subject to legal redress and campus conduct processes.

...well, I think you can. As long as you pay for the food, you're okay.

The squirrels are fat. They eat donuts, if they cooperate.

I have not tried chasing rodents or birds around yet. I have not seen any rodents.

I hopefully brought enough socks?

I'm changing my underwear daily, thank you very much.

I don't know? [gets launched into an endless abyss]

How is your bathroom sitation?
- Every room, every suite, every hall, all of them?
Did you get your Cal 1 Card yet?
Is a Cal 1 Card necessary for eating on campus or can you pay with cash?
Can Cal 1 Cards be used on vending machines?
Are there bugs in your dorm?
Do you have your own kitchen area?
Why won't you attend parties?
Are you eating your veggies?

  • Every suite has a bathroom. Our suite is coed, so we get two bathrooms: one for guys and one for girls. Our bathroom is a shitty one 'cause there's one door that gets jammed a lot and one toilet where holding the flush handle is mandatory for the toilet to...flush. There are shelves in each bathroom for the suite to place their toiletries.
  • I got my Cal 1 Card with a Class Pass sticker. The sticker lets me ride the bus that travels around Berkeley for free.
  • A Cal 1 Card is not necessary for eating on campus. However, it is your identification card, and you may need to show it to your professors on finals as veritable proof of identification. They don't want Joe Schmoe to take your test. Cal 1 Cards also serve as debit cards: you can use them on vending machines and washing machines. I'm pretty sure there are more uses for it.
  • Cal 1 Cards can be used on vending machines.
  • We do not have a kitchen area.
  • I won't attend parties. I'm here to pass class, not party. Well, no fraternities for me.
  • Yes, I am eating my veggies. Peas. Salad. Whatever they have at the dining commons.
