ILLUSIONS OF SPACE
Here's some definitions of techniques that can be used to help achieve illusions of depth and space in a picture 3nodding
Aerial/Atmosphereic Perspective -- The perception of less distict contours and value contrasts as forms recede into the background.
Overlapping-- Shapes in front of or partially hiding others.
Transparency-- When two forms overlap and both are seen completely.
Juxtaposition-- When one images or shape is placed next to another image or shape.
Chiaroscueo (cheero-skeero)-- Use of light and dark values to imply depth and volume in a 2D work of art.
