Bios in and of themselves are annoying, especially since it takes some of the surprise of a character away. It also makes it a bit more difficult to rp with someone if you have metaknowledge about their character. At least to me. Joe Blow is a narcoleptic suicidal crack user. Now, we know this, so we think of various ways to rp with him. But we find that he does something that wasn't mentioned, or is different from what we had thought up. Now we have to think about what to put, and mess up because of prior knowledge.

Now, Jane Doe has just killed five people. Why has she done this? We ask, and she can give a bit of background, or have her personality take effect and not say anything, only go off to kill more people. We deduce that she is a psycho killer, and it makes things interesting because we have to play with what little knowledge we have, and not what we can deduce what metaknowledge we have. My opinion.
