That's actually one of the ways Kuraisennin copies jutsu. It is EXTREMELY difficult, as with the Byakuugan you spend your life training to use it to dodge and time attacks in battle. When you start wanting to use it in other ways, it takes the time of watching the opponent or user of the jutsu perform it over and over at slower paces than they normally would use it. [At least until you've gotten experience at it.] This can be done with a friend or family member at leisure... once you're ready, you can move on to the actual speed of the hand seals.

Here's where it gets tricky, you have to learn how the jutsu moves in the system and which tenketsus it reacts with -exactly- at each second of the jutsu. This takes the majority of the time... and once you have greater experience with this, you can start to use this new learning ability out in the field on lower-level jutsu. [Above academy, but nothing incredible.]

Bah... back to the whole Sharingan dealy... I looked this up on a fairly decent website, (same place i get my naruto comic from) and since these people have nothing better to do they research things like bloodlines and such. Well with the sharingan there are three distinct levels. level one is very beginner stuff, level two being intermediate and the third being the most mature and powerful level for the sharingan. It is possible for Sharingan users to have two different numbers of dots in their eyes depending on their power but as for Itachi his sharingan as those who have gotten to that point know came through killing his best friend. Though Sasuke wanted that level of sharingan to defeat his brother there would still be the problem of killing his best friend which as said point he was unable to do. *bangs head against the desk* I need to read chapter 272... its killing me not to have more of this battle....grawr...
