Exactly.... she IS Tonks... not... Nymphadora... but you know, she thinks her moms a nut for naming her that, look at her mom and aunts names! Andromeda, Bellatrix and Narcissa... yikes.

There are so many women, though, in this world who don't change their names once they get married. Some societies pass down the female name instead of the male.
I know, we're talking about "modern" London here, but still there is a possibility that Tonks didn't change her last name to Lupin...if I'm wrong, please let me know. Even so, though, she will always be a Tonks because that was the name she was born with and marriage doesn't change that.
I also agree that nicknames never die.

I does matter who you are your nickname will always be your nickname.. Tonks well always be Tonks....

Simply because that's what she likes to be called. I mean, what would we call her otherwise? We'd call her Dora. tonks is just her name and it suits her personality really well.
