I was thinking about a new guitar earlier today, and I have decided to ask you all: what do you think is the best guitar someone can buy for under 500 US Dollars?

id have to say schecter, fender, or ibanez... then again hamer, epiphone, and schecter. thats right, i said schecter 2 times, cuz it's the best brand, and esp. schecter or esp is the way to go.

epiphones are great guitars. some better than others, but there is nothin wrong with epiphone.

ibanez. got a GSZ120 for 160GBP so it'll be about 320USD. i think. better than my mate's Epiphone LP before i got my hands on it.

Actually I saw some pretty nice Epiphone SG guitars for about $300 on amazon.com.
