So, in another site, a guy that lived in the pre-Roe vs Wade days, said that women that wanted to abort would also go to a vet. Apparently, some vets would allow women to go there and have a relatively safe abortion (since they'd have tools and experience from performing them on animals); and then direct the woman to a medical center where they could get all the after care needed, no question asked. Has anyone heard of something like this? I don't really have any reasons to doubt the person's credibility, but it certainly is news to me.

I've never heard of that. Interesting if true. I imagine there were a number of bizarre things women did out of desperation in those days that people now could not conceive of. I also imagine that collecting the stories of, and educating people on some of the more extreme and unusual measures taken to obtain an abortion might change a few minds. At the very least, I bet it would surprise the lifers who fail to understood just how profoundly a woman might wish to be relieved of a pregnancy.

That sounds fairly resonable to me, which is to say that it dosent sound too bizarre. I used to work at an animal hospital and it was alot cleaner than alot of drs offices that ive seen. We kept that place spotless, so it was probably the best place to do soemthing like that.

I'm pretty sure I've heard of something like this before when I was reading accounts of women seeking illegal abortion in Canada. Of course, on that site I also heard of a woman putting fire works up her vag in attempt to cause a miscarriage, which I'm not entirely sure to be true. '-' I would hope it's not, actually, because it's a VERY disturbing and sad situation.
Anyways, I can see it happening. When I worked at the emergency vet clinic, a lot of the people working there used to work in hospitals or doctor offices or were even doctors previously, so I don't think it's too hard to imagine.
(PS: I LOVE your sig, caff)

Most Vets have some type of equipment to perform abortions on animals. Whether you've thought about it or not, but fetuses do die in animals as they do in humans and one way or another, they have to get the dead fetus out.
They also have medications to induce labor (as an abortion) for larger animals like bovine and horses; though I doubt it would be safe for a human.
I've never heard about women going to vets; but it might have happened.
