They are basically sealed envelopes except you can ipen them

Kinda what moose said. Every month people can give some money to Gaia, and Gaia thanks them with the letters that contain the monthly collectibles.

Thank you letters contain MC's (Monthly collectibles), which are limited edition items for the month they are released.
