I sit staring into space thinking about our future, or lack thereof so to speak. I try to think of how long I have been on the X-025 but I can't remember. Time just passes by.

I see my pale arm and shudder, needlepricks stand out in the fluorescent lighting. I pull my grey jumper down and sigh. As I look around I see other children and teenagers like myself and wonder what I could do to help.

Suddenly the alarm wails and we all look up startled, the security personel marches past and I wonder what has happened?

I look at my friend Amy and think maybe this is the break we need? "Amy" I say "I think this is the distraction we've been looking for" she grins back at me "well c'mon we have to get organised" I motioned for the rest of the children and teenagers to huddle "gang listen up" I look around "we have the distraction that we need to make a break for it" I try to think of what to do next, "ok gang we need to stick for each other got it?" the group nods back at me.

"Good now whilst the staff are off guard we run as fast as we can to the exit and then we are home free" I hi-five everyone and we start running.

My adrenaline is pumping so fast through my body that I can hardly think properly, I watch the group as they go ahead and I think to myself that we have come such along way together.

"C'mon Amy lets go" I tug at her grey jumper and we are off through the ship and then finally we see the exit.

Suddenly on the Voice overs we here "The children are trying to escape GUARDS STOP THEM!" I pause trying to listen and then start running once more.
The night before I had managed to steal the key when the guard at his post had gotten so drunk he fell asleep.

I shove the key into the lock and the door of the ship slides open, "YES" the groups yells, a couple of boys punches the air in triumph.

We run off the ship and onto the grounds of the base and I think finally we are free, I here the doors slide shut and the announcement saying that the ship is ready to take off. I look back as it slowly makes its way into the sky and I think ew did it, we finally did it. I put my arm around Amy and make our way to the group "we can go home gang" they laugh and slap each other on the backs and start their long walk. Home.
