you shoould go by the corner of the weapon and item shop and press x it may take a few times but it should say there is a switch do you want to press it say yes and that is part 1 of 2 then go into the room with laharls throne (the chair not coffin) go behind it and do the same thing as in step #1 and it will say the same thing press yes and then you should go in the room in between both the throne room and the main room and go to the corner nearest the throne room and press x then etna should say "prince i need to go to the bathroom" then you will have acess to etnas diary from now on

Good tip. It's a must know for first time and even game + players to know. I would add to your post that at the beginning of every chapter, to go and read the diary's new entry. Doing so successfully earns you a decent item to either equip to a character or simply to sell and get hell from. (:
