Lucretia blinked at the creature as it made a move, but did not withdraw her hand. A faint smile tugged at the corner of her mouth as it licked her fingers, then tried to resist a giggle as its little pink tongue froze against her cold skin, sticking to her finger. A vague wondering if she could lift it up like that crossed her mind, but it seemed mean, so the Raeven just held her hand still to see what the butterflox would do.

Kumoru glanced back at Lucretia and at Arlyn, and nodded slightly in agreement. "Lucretia came to me much more able than my children who were actually infants at one point or another, at least. And she has been learning to talk more quickly, as well." He stepped back a little to stand more beside the Raevan, and rested one hand lightly on her bare shoulder; the necromancer's eye twitched slightly as he touched her, though, as it was easy to forget sometimes that her skin was so cold.

"What sort of essence did you receive?" he then asked Ki. "And how did you choose your soul?" And, as an afterthought, he added, "Also, do you know anything about how the soul bottles work? Just curious."

Oberon pulled backwards, expression almost comical in his alarm. Wings fluttering frantically, the butterflox tugged again, yelping in surprise when, instead of freeing himself, the tugging merely hurt.

Nodding thoughtfully, Ki opened her mouth to reply, only to be interrupted by Oberon's surprised yelp. Turning her head, she couldn't help but laugh at the butterflox's predicament. "That's what you get for licking everything..." she murmured, before turning back to Kumoru, not unduly concerned.

Not one to give up, Oberon continued pulling, heart racing--he didn't like this! Finally, his tongue came free, nearly sending him catapaulting backwards, so suddenly did it occur. Giving Ki an injured, irritable expression--he hadn't missed his "owner"'s outburst--Oberon turned his attention back to Lucretia, gaze somewhat suspicious.

Clearing her throat, Ki got back to the subject at hand. "I received a chunk of amber, in a test tube--only it seemed to get bigger, as time went on." She never had found any reason for the amber's ability to seemingly self-reproduce. "And as for the soul...well, I had a run-in with some of the local wildlife, in one of the tidal pools nearby, and with some assistance, captured the fish's soul." She clenched her fist at the memory--god, but that had hurt! "I think it was some sort of lionfish?" She continued, shrugging--the fish had paid its price, although she still hadn't quite forgiven the damn thing, for the trouble it had caused.

"Aside from what we were told to capture our souls, you mean?" Ki shook her head. "I have to admit, I wondered about it too, though--I mean, the bottles didn't seem all that special..."

Tugging gently back in hopes of helping the little creature get his tongue free, Lucretia still found that she could not help but laugh a bit at his plight. At his suspicious glance once he had unstuck himself, the Raevan reached towards him again, slowly and a bit cautiously, aiming to rub him under the chin a little, where even her chilly fingers would not stick to him again. Hopefully he would not resent her for it, because he was cute.

"The bottles seem almost hungry," the necromancer commented half to himself as he nodded slowly. Then, focusing on Ki again, he told her, "I have an extra one, through a bit of an accident, although it's already been used once, so I don't know if it will still work quite like a new one."

"Interesting choice for a soul, though. I will be curious to see how it turns out. Do you think it will be able to live outside of water?" He hoped so; it seemed a terrible pain if anyone with a Raevan would have to buy a huge tank of water for it or something like that.

"And the essences.... They're all quite strange. Like I said, mine was an ice rose that neither grew nor died in the time I had it." Kumoru laughed a little at himself as he added, "The latter was more of a surprise since, ah, plants tend not to do well under my care."
