One of my friends was from Texas but had a british father, so people would ask where she was from and she'd say "Texas" and they'd be like "Oh, that explains it" and I'd be like "No, her father's british" and they'd be like "OHH, THAT REALLY DOES EXPLAIN IT"

My grandma is from texas, the one that doesn't have much of an accent to me.... not the really southern one.

lol, northern Alabama has snow but I don't. I call my boyfriend a yankee even though Missouri was one of those in-between states. Once we had an pretend arguement where I accused him of personally raping southern women and stuff, since he's a northerner.

I was typing "cookies" ealier and almost typed "I'm making cockies" sweatdrop

And aww, my boyfriend and I have been together almost 3 years now, I'm hoping to move up to Missouri with him soon and stop being an online relationship ><

@Statistical: I use soda because it's a good, middle of the road term. I would never be able to adapt to calling it pop because for some reason that term really irks me. I think mostly it's 'cause I argued with my friend for so long about it just because I could, it would be like admitting defeat.

@Sir: Yeah, I don't have much of one even for somebody around here.

And I apparently remind a lot of people of somebody else, I get it all the friggin' time. Of course, the weirdest one is a co-worker who tells me I remind her of a Rainbow Brite character sweatdrop

I've never heard of someone liking a Jersey accent before. Even though I was born and raised in NJ, I never picked up the accent...yet I can hear it all the time from my sister. It's rather annoying to me. *shrug*

I ADORE Scottish accents. Well, I adore most accents, but Scottish will turn me into mush in a nanosecond. XD

I've talked to somebody who had a pleasant New Jersey accent.... her boyfriend, not so much. I mean, it's not bad, but it's not very sexy.

The other person I talked to I picked up on the New Jersey-ness of it before her, and then when she realized it she flipped out and was like "I love those accents"

I was like "Dude, it's a New Jersey accent, calm down."

But I can't really talk, I'm surrounded by southern accents and on the right guy I find them so sexy. At least she likes something out of the ordinary for where she lives.

~{ A tout le monde... A tout mes amis... Je vous aime... Je dois partir...}~

My accent? Well... I'm from Michigan. Been here all my life. I don't notice one, but im sure to others from farther away states, and countries, I do. *shrugs*
As for local terms... well... i've heard water fountains called just that, water fountains or drinking fountains. "Goober peas"... never heard that up here. I do know what goobers are... but, usually will just refer to them as chocolate peanuts. xD
Around here, i hear lots of different ways people call more than one people. Being originally from Detroit, then moving up here to a northern, more rural area... i hear y'all {specially from my friend Linda, who visits her grandma in Kansas every year... lol}. I also hear "you guys"... and then what my brother and all his guy friends seem to say is "dude". No matter if it's me, or my mom, or any other person, female or male... it's always "dude!" with them... x.x Lol.
We call "coke"... pop. Lol. I call it soda myself most of the time... but i think it's just because i want to sound different from all my friends and family. xD

As for accents in general... i've ALWAYS had a "thing" for accents. They're actually my biggest eh... turn on. Lol. My favorites would have to be British, Australian, New Zealand... and of course my boyfriends. <3
His accent is... well, hard to explain. He was born in Rotterdam, Holland... and went to a boarding school in England for a few years. Then now, he's living in Panama. So... it's quite a mixed one he says. It sounds completely amazing. The first time I heard it, i giggled the whole time, saying how happy i was, not only to be talking with him, but because my boyfriend had an accent. Lol. I told him that when he gets here, im going to make him talk non-stop for me... lol. He happily agreed he would. WOO! x3 But he said only when he's not kissing me. >.> WOO again! xD

Sorry if no one really wanted to know any of that all up there.
I dont usually post too often. sweatdrop

i dont know if i have an accent...i have it when i speak spanish though XP
it crazy weird.

the vernacular here in the oc is weird....i never really understood it. but i go with it. (i tend to say "hella" (ie: hella cool, etc) and they assume im from nor cal...which is where people say it alot)

I dont understand how many people here say "like" like every single time? isnt it enough that like theres alot of stupid words and like phrases here?
even if the sentence doesnt like make any like sense...they still like have to use "like" like every time.

i want to strangle them. xp i feel my iq drop slowly when i converse with a cute girl or normal guy and they speak "like". total kill joy.
ill start randomly holding up figers everytime they say the word during conversation until they realize what im doing. i find it hilarious.
they dont haha.

ive noticed that alot of cali natives speak a little more slow and relaxed, like a rolling wave or crusing around. that might be part of our accent.

I say "like" instead of "uh" often, but I also just say it a lot just because.

I hate it because I know it probably makes me sound stupid, although I probably don't sound as stupid as the people who don't realize they do it or think it's cool. I'm just all: "So, like, I need you to give me that ." when I really have no need to put like in there.

"like" really does truth in the "all californians are plastic incohearent and dumb" steriotype.
thankfully ive noticed that number go lower and lower as im getting older and older XP

i do the finger thing to those i know or those who i really dont like.
hehe gets a laugh from others in the area too.
i sometimes let the occasional "like" in there and i get ribbings from my friends too lol

Ha, I've got an American North East Coast kinda accent. But not the nEw Jersey or New York stuff. I live in Maryland. We aren't southern, but we aren't super northern ^^;. In my own opinion though, I think I'm pretty good at imitating accents. I'm even getting close to pinning down those crazy Russian accents! Christopher Walken is still however out of my reach. =(

Heh, yeah I get thrown off when people say "pop" too when they refer to soda. I just say Soda man! It's a sexier word! =D

A lot of talk about the New Jersey accent. I've got a friend who happens to be a girl who has a New Jersey Accent. It sounds great on her though with her attitude. She's got a subtlly in-your-face attitude. Not OUT THERE, but still very confident.

But my favorite accent of all time, even though French girls sound oh so wonderful, is an Authentic African Accent. Anyone see Hotel Rwanda(lol, I can't believe I'm using that movie as an example)? It's just so soft and delicate a voice!

EDIT: Heh, I forgot to put the word African inbetween Authentic and Accent

I can see Jersey accents being sexy on some people, but it wasn't on my friend's boyfriend, imho.

I've never cared for french accents...but I hate their language... Now the german language... heart
