((Alrighty, I'll say this is the day after the clutching.... Let's do the time warp again~~~ *bricked*))
Lemurrin left his quarters after firmly instructing his fire-lizards not to follow him. Maybe they'd listen for once; he was off to visit the Weyrwoman and didn't need them clinging to his shoulders, nipping at his ears, or getting tangled in his hair. He was more than a bit nervous, as he'd never spoken to Ephia directly, and this was a matter of some importance! The harper made his way to Ephia's weyr, hoping she was there and that Ariath was not. The queen had better things to think on than an impertinant journeyman harper!
Outside the weyrwoman's quarters, Lemurrin took a deep breath and knocked on the doorframe. "Er, hello? I'm sorry to interrupt you, Weyrwoman Ephia, but I'd like to speak to you if possible." He pushed his hair out of his eyes and tried to maintain his best Businesslike Harper face.

Ephia had been busy working on records. The clutch had been quite large and she needed to put it down for future generations to see should they need the information. It was a tedious task but it had to be done.
Fugue was happily dozing upon the hide sprawled across her bed, his tiny wings furled up and legs laying this way and that. It was quite a humerous sight and Ariath would have surely been the little one''s perch if the queen wasn''t busy tending to her eggs, making sure no one came near them. Ephia hadn''t heard of any caualties in the Hatching Grounds yet so things seemed to be going well. In fact, it seemed Ariath was dozing. Ephia smiled at the familiar feeling of her lifemate sleeping as she continued her work.
A rapping upon the doorframe caught the Weyrwoman''s attention. Placing her writing utensil down she peered up to see who was visiting her. She was a bit surprised to see one of the Weyr''s occupant Harpers standing there but she graced him with a smile before rising to her feet, the hem of her green dress flirting with the ground.
"What could I do for you Lemurrin?"

Lemurrin blinked, a bit surprised the Weyrwoman knew his name. "I, ah, came to talk to you." He flushed. "I've been, well, I think.. I've been hearing the dragons. In my head." The words came out in a rush. "So I thought you should... know." He scratched the back of his neck, trying to regain his composure. "And congratulations to you and Ariath," he finished, rather lamely.
((Poor boy's a bit flustered. xd ))

Ephia stared at him for a moment as he stuttered out his purpose of visiting her. After a few moments she realized what she was doing and quickly righted herself. "You can hear the dragons?" She gestured for him to sit at a chair next to the wall as she carefully picked her own up and set it down a few feet in front of the other.
Sitting down upon the seat her hands folded neatly in her lap. "Are you sure you just have not been honored by a dragon and have been bespoken to?"

Lemurrin sat and held his hands still in his lap. "I thought that at first. T'bell's Liliath did speak to me once, a while ago. But it's been happening a lot. I.. overhear them. Talking to each other, and sometimes to their riders." He looked down at his hands. "I even heard Ariath when she began to clutch," he admitted quietly. "So," -and a spark of his usual humor showed through- "Unless your gold wanted to tell me personally..." Lemurrin's mouth twitched.

Ephia sat back in her chair in thought. Well this certainly was an interesting development. The last one in the records to be able to hear all dragons was Lessa from Ruatha.
Dearheart...
Yes, he can hear me and the others.
And you didn't feel the need to tell me?
It was talk among the dragons and you told me before that dragon gossip rarely interested you.
Yes, rarely, but this certainly would have been nice to know.
Well you know now. There was no harm done.
During the conversation Ariath was very airy and seemed to be enjoying her riders's miffed state of not being informed of such an important thing. Ariath herself felt that a person who could talk to all dragons was such mportant news.
Ephia sighed and pushed a stray lock of hair behind her ear irritably. "Well, Ariath has been well aware of your talents but didn't feel the need of me knowing." Shaking her head a small smile creeped across her face. "I am sure she is finding this whole situation amusing. Our main concern is you now. You have been searched to stand for the upcoming hatching so this ability of yours is unexpected but hasn't manifest on little ground. I just do hope the dragons aren't causing you to go insane with their constant chatter and gossip."

Lemurrin smiled more freely. "At first I did think I was going crazy, all those voices, but I didn't realize it was just the dragons. I've only told one person other than you." He shrugged. "Do you think it means anything? I certainly never thought the dragons would talk to me."

Ephia thought for a moment. She remembered being taught of such a talent. All she needed to do was jog her memory... Ah yes! Now she remembered. But could it possibly be such a thing? A talent such as this has only risen in women before, there were no records of a male holding such a gift, but, maybe it was time that things changed.
"The tale of Moreta, a strong Weyrwoman is something that I remember very clearly now that your talent has been brought up. It was said that she herself could talk to all dragonkind and such a talent proved useful. Again this gift appeared in another woman of Ruatha Hold. She was Weyrwoman Lessa. There have been no other tales or records of anyone else with such a manifestation but I believe what we have here, is such a thing." She smiled warmly at him. "I'll need you to keep me informed of this talent of yours while I try to find some old records about it. If anything odd should happen please let me or the Weyrleader know."

The harper knew the ballads and histories well. "To think I seem to share a talent with two such as Moreta and Lessa..." he said quietly, shaking his head, the reality of it all finally sinking in. "Oh, I'll certainly let you know should anything else happen, Weyrwoman." Lemurrin stood and bowed slightly. "Please, contact me when you find those old records; I'd be very interested in going over them." He smiled and made his way to the door.
