Nyota watched Aimi eat with amusement and admiration, a small smile playing at his muzzle. He had watched her struggle to get the apples, and had been about to offer some help when she had managed to get two all on her own. He had felt oddly proud of her, and was quite pleased when she offered one to him. He listened as she told the story of how she had found the small grove, and he listened with rapt attention, before replying.
"It really is quite a pleasant place. Oh? For me? Thank you," he said, before he reached out and took the smaller of the two apples. They were both ripe and were nearly the same size, but he left the nicer of the pair for her. After all, she had picked them, and he was fine with the one he had. He chewed on it gently, savoring the tangy flavor.
"Personally," he said, when he had finished, "I love to explore the area. I had thought I had found every fruit grove there was, but ah, you managed to surprise me," he joked. "It really is nice to have met you today. I haven't really met many of the Malu in this area before, and I always enjoy meeting someone new."

She giggled, flicking her short tail to rid herself of a small fly that had landed atop the fluffy appendage. She carefully took a bite out of her apple, savoring the flavor, and pushed a small pile of berries towards Nyota, all while listening to him speak.
"Oh, I love to explore!" She exclaimed, happy that she had met someone else who enjoyed exploring, as well. She couldn't help but let out a pleased giggle; it was nice to know that he appreciated the beauty of the grove she had found, and also to know that he had missed this grove on his excursions. She blushed at his last words, flicking a large ear.
"It's very nice to have met you today, as well, Nyota," she said with a happy smile on her muzzle. She really did enjoy saying his name, it matched him well. "Meeting others is always an interesting experience, though sometimes not altogether pleasing. I'm happy to say, though, that I am very glad to have been graced by your presence today, it isn't often I meet such a kind-hearted Malu."

If Nyota had been able to blush, he would have, but he rather turned his eyes away as a sign of modesty. Aimi was probably the sweetest and kindest Malu that he had run across, and he hoped that he would have a chance to speak with her again after today. He flicked his tail and then leaned over, daintily picking up a few of the berries that Aimi had pushed toward him.
He savored the flavor and then chuckled, quite cheerful. However, his expression quickly turned to chagrin as he noticed the placement of the sun. It was getting a little late, and there was somewhere he needed to be. He reluctantly rose, an apologetic expression gracing his features.
"Aimi, I'm sorry to tell you that I have to be leaving. I had plans to meet with someone today, and I'm afraid that it is a commitment I cannot break. I do hope that we will see each other again, though. It would be nice to share breakfast with you a second time," he added with a smile.

Aimi offered the Malu a gracious smile, thoroughly enjoying his company. The smallest flicker of a frown appeared on her muzzle when she saw him rise, but she rose to join him, listening politely. A warm smile graced her muzzle and she dipped her head, her pinkish eyes fixed on him.
"It's perfectly fine, Nyota, and I understand. I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed your company this morning, and I too hope we shall meet again, though I am sure we will," she said with a smile. She dipped her muzzle, this time to pick up a long stem with several blueberries on it, and set it down before him. "At least take something for the trip, be it short or long," she said with a smile. "You may always find me here at this part of the temple. I always go to that same location to watch beloved Dawn paint the sky before the sun rises each morn." She hesitated a bit before reaching over to give the other Malu a quick, gentle nuzzle and a slightly nervous smile. "I hope to see you again soon."

Nyota smiled kindly down at the beautiful, bright, pink Maluess, and wished that he didn't have to go. With a resigned sigh, he reached over and nuzzled her back gently.
"I am sure we will see each other again, and I look forward to it. You can be sure that I will be visiting the temple earlier than I have in the past now. Have a lovely day, lovely Aimi," he said with a wink, before he gently reached down and picked up the dainty branch of berries in his mouth to take with him. With one last glance, his blue eyes sparkling, Nyota bounded away, back in the direction of the temple.
Just before he was out of sight, he turned back for one last glance, fluttered his wings gently in a wave, and then trotted out of sight, his amber colored fur glinting in the sunlight.

A happy smile graced her muzzle, and she waited for him to turn before prancing in place a bit. Such compliments! She wasn't sure if she could blush or not, but she hoped not. It would show much too often around this handsome Malu, for he seemed to never cease his compliments. She halted her exuberant actions before he turned to offer a fluttered wave, and she fluttered her wings in response. With a contented sigh, the bright pink Maluess settled herself back down onto the grass to finish her breakfast.
