White toes stepped into the pridal grounds. The teenaged lioness walked slowly, breathing deep the scent of the rest of the pride, the animals, and the area. She'd never thought she'd be homesick, yet here she was, in the land she grew up. Silent a minute, a wide grin overtook the adolescent face, and she suddenly ran, laughing, for the land she loved.

While small, her legs propelled her across the grasses, a jubilant laugh echoing as she raced. She was home, she was happy, and she knew she was safe. Finally she stopped at an outcropping, glancing towards Pride Rock. She was home. From deep in her chest she produced a roar of jubilation. She couldn't contain her joy.

The lion's ear flicked as he watched the younger race ahead, a perturbed look on his face. She was... VERY... hyper. Slowly the giant padded after, sniffing the air. This place was home to a pride, and a stranger would not likely be overly welcome. Carefully he walked, watching for others. This was going to be difficult, be he had a duty to Shin and a duty to his mother. Hyena bones rubbed against the fluffy white mane as he walked, looking.

Trotting after, Shin couldn't help but smile. Home... It smelled so familiar, so wonderful... He missed it. Born and raised there, he'd felt the yearning tug at his heart, the ache of it not being around him. And now, he was home. Puffing up his chest, he let out his own roar, letting others know that he was home.

======

In the distance, another heard the roars. He recognised them instantly, though he rarely had heard them. Rising from where he rested, Toshiro glanced at Kimiko, then turned and trotted off to interecept. He had no idea of the surprise that awaited him, though.

Kabichi smiled, nuzzing into Shin's neck softly before looking out over the land, roaring again before turning, playfully batting at Shin like a cub would. She was in good spirits, and the sun was warm. She felt good.

Sairin watched the two from behind, sitting silently. He did not know where home was. Since Ishara's death, he had been empty. He had no kin, save Shin, and Shin held him to the land he sat. Were it not for the young one, he would likely have become more of a wanderer.

Letting out a rumbling purr, Shin nuzzled Kabichi in return. He was happy, he was content... And standing next to the lioness made his heart flutter in a pleasant way. He realised he was in love. For a brief moment, he wondered if anything would change this. He decided that no, nothing would.

Approaching the group, Toshiro's fur began to bristle. larger, fuller, more filled-in, and far more muscular since they last met, he instantly recognised his half-brother, Sairin. The silver-haired lion growled deep in his throat, contemplating on attacking. Would it be wise? He decided a cautious approach would be good.

Trailing behind Toshiro, Kimiko took in the sight of the other lions. When she saw Kabichi, her fur prickled around the healing scars on her back. No, attacking would be most stupid... She'd learned her lesson very well, and she wasn't about to do something that would very well get her killed.

Kabi giggle, playfully batting at Shin again with a cub-like mewling sound. What was on her mind was undiscernable.

Likely catnip for lions.

Sairin watched in silence, nose twitching suddenly, ears pricking. A deep growl in his chest erupted, warning the air of his presence, as he silently flexed his claws.

It seemed the moment wasn't meant to last. SHin looked up at his uncle's growl and looked around. His body promptly tensed as he spotted Toshiro and Kimiko approaching. Could he handle this? Could he stand up to his father? Now was the time to find out, it seemed.

Stopping a distance away, Toshiro scowled at his brother. "And what brings the likes of YOU here?" He seemed to ignore his son and the lioness with him, focusing on Sairin instead.

Kimiko stared at the larger male, intantly... Intrigued. She walked around Toshiro, tail flicking as she slowly approached. Who was he, and how did Toshiro know him? What she instantly recognised that, like her, he was monochromatic. She decided then and there, she had to find out who he was.

Sairin slowly turned to face Toshiro, rising calmly and growling further.

"My business here," The lion snarled, moving protectively near his nephew.

"Is YOU."

Kabichi blinked, watching first Sairin, then the other two. She immediately snarled, fur raising.

"Oh? And what about me could attract someone like YOU here?" Toshiro paced a bit, tail lashing. How dare he, he had no RIGHT to be here! Shin was HIS buisness, not this over-plumped vulture's!

Swallowing, Shin moved to stand between his father and Kabichi. There was no way he'd let Toshiro hurt her. Ears back, he tried to make himself look as big as he could.

Sairin snarled.

"It's my business when you torture the boy. It's my business to make you suffer, murderer." A suden roar elicted from the largew lion, and he sprung for the smaller, claws and fangs bared.

Kabichi blinked, watching Shin. What was he doing...?

Bristling and roaring back, Toshiro met his brother, his own claws and fangs bared. Though he had age and experience, Toshiro once again foolishly took this as a sign of better fighting. Every time he met his brother tooth and claw, he was doomed to lose, and he did not see this.

She was impressed, very impressed. Kimiko circled carefully around the fighting males, moving closer to Shin and Kabichi. But her attention wasn't on them, nor did she give of an air of hostility. She was just observing, watching, enthralled. Such power... It made a shiver run up and down her spine repeatedly.

Backing up just slightly, Shin glanced at Kabichi. "We should get away from them before we're caught up in that mess!" He noticed Kimiko and bristled, though he could tell she wasn't focused on them. The rapt attention she held was on the fighting lions. It bothered him that she seemed to revel in the suffering of others like that.

Kabichi nodded, briskly, dancing back and snorting as she did, landing finally with a graceful pose, and growled slightly.

Sairin snarled, and immediately dove into the fight. There was no mother to stop him. If he wished, he could kill the traitor. A fact he planned a extort immensely.

Toshiro snarled, trying his best to sink his claws or teeth into his brother's sides. He wasn't too great at it, though. Toshiro hadn't been too much of a fighter before, now was no different. He was great at weaving little lies, but that was about it.

Ducking behind a rock, Shin peeked out at his fighting relatives. There was no way he'd be doing THAT in his life! Shin acknowledged that, thankfully, he'd never fight with his brothers in such a manner. He threw a glance at Kimiko, secretly hoping one of them took out her eye or something.

Sairin was not accustomed to battle, but he was accustomed to hunting, and a struggling meal was a good teacher, it seemed, as massive claws aimed to rake the other lion's body. He would ensure Toshiro suffered.

Ksbichi watched the males, then eyed Kimiko, and sighed, bolting out before trying to scruff the taller lioness.

"C;mon, watch from a safer spot, idiot!"

She blinked a bit, glanced at Kabichi, then folowed after. Kimi peeked over the rock, still wanting to watch the two lions fight. It wasn't that the fighting itself had her attention, it was that big snowy-maned male. In her mind, she could think only of how he seemed the perfect specimen of the lion geneology.

Letting out a roar of pain, Toshiro stumbled back. Blood stained the white part of his coat from the deep lacerations, dripping onto the ground. The battle had barely begun, but he wasn't stupid. He realised now, in this one moment, what it had taken him what seemed like so long to realise - He was no match for his brother, and never would be. "Fine, then, take the whelp! Take him and all of his brothers and sisters!" He spit at his brother. "I spit on your grave and the grave of that worthless bag of bones lioness, Sairin!" Green eyes glaring at first his brother, then his son, Toshiro turned and half ran, half limped away. It didn't occur to him that he'd left Kimiko behind, but he wasn't about to go back for her. No, she could stay with the lot of them.

He was gone... His father was leaving... Shin jumped on top of the rock, watching Toshiro run off into the distance. He hoped he would never see that coat pattern again. But he knew he'd see it partially, every day. When he looked to his brothers and sisters, and at himself in the pools of water, he'd see him. When he looked into the eyes of his sibblings who had the green eyes, Shin knew he'd see Toshiro. But he hoped this wouldn't plague him forever. He looked back at Kabichi with a grin on his face, showing his joy.
