Sighing, paws scuffing across sand and grass Kibuhuti'kota yawned, the cloudless blue sky and hot sun wearing her down further. She'd had to leave the jungle, just had to, and now that she had she was frightened that maybe she'd strayed too far into the open. The grasslands were so hot, wide and empty compared to the cool canopy of tall trees grown closely together. It all frustrated her a little.
Still.
She was glad that she was away, now that she'd gotten her courage up to leave. Kibu surveyed the land around her, sniffing anxiously in every direction, she could see the dark shadow to her west that meant the elephant graveyard, a place most pups knew to avoid, so you could be sure she'd be avoiding it as well, unless she had no other choice in the matter.
Laying down under an outcropping of rock she heaved a sigh, tongue lolling in the fierce heat. Maybe, just maybe, something interesting would happen today.
