Auri was wandering. Normally he didn't go too far from his family, always trailing behind one parent or another, or one of his siblings. But now that he was getting older and bigger, he was finally striking out on his own!
Well, for a little bit, anyway.
Padding along through the grasslands, tail held high, the leopard cub looked ahead smugly. He was a FIERCE LEOPARD! He was going HUNTING! And then maybe after that he'd take a nap. A FIERCE nap!

Tizona was running rather rapidly in the grass suppressing a giggle with all of her might. She kept her body close to the ground as she could, to hide herself in the tall grass. She kept glancing back behind her, her yellow eyes darting back and forth before turning her attention back to what was before her.
The brown and white pridelander cub had escaped the watchful eyes of both her parents, her father was easy, he had like.....SEVEN BILLION other cubs to watch....Okay so maybe not that many but he had a lot. As for her mother, she was a bit tired and preoccupied with the 'triplets' of her litter.
So with her parents preoccupied it meant time to dart off and explore. Which was exactly what Tizona was planning on doing.

Gasp! There! Out of the corner of his eye, Auri spotted movement. Narrowing the oddly-colored eyes, he lowered himself to the ground. He tried to remember the steps of good pouncing... Paws on the ground, butt in the air, watch your prey, tail waggle, leap, and..!
POUNCE! The leopard cub launched himself rather ineptly at the smaller lioness, attempting to land on top of her. Missing by a few inches and simply barreling into her shoulder, he flopped head over tail into the dust. Sneezing, he looked up dazedly at his 'prey'.
"HEY! You're not a rabbit!" he accused, trying to look stern but just ending up looking vaguely cross-eyed.

When the red feline went flying past her she let out a loud gasp. She forced herself to stop sliding in the grass a foot or two extra. Immediately the lion turned to look at her attacker as he said something at her. Her jaw dropped when she took in the sight of him. He didn't look like a lion....so...did that mean he was....
AN ALIEN?
Enthusiasm and excitement bubbled up in Tizona as she exlaimed "HEY! You're not a lion!" She paused grinning broadly before continuing rather excitedly "Are you an....ALIEN?"
She was still rather young, she had never seen a species that looked so much like a lion but wasn't. So of course she was confused but excited.

"A what?!" Auri retorted, sneering. "Course I'm not an .. an alien! I'm a leopard!" He sniffed, shaking dust out of his fur as he stood up again. "Why would I be a lion? Don't be silly."
He turned round and got a first good look at the other cub that he'd mistaken for prey. Hm, little brown lion cub. She did have a lot of white on her, though... he wrinkled his nose. She was prolly all kinds of bad luck!
He paced in a circle around her, looking critical. "Anyway, what are YOU doing out here, acting like a rabbit? HUH?" the little leopard demanded.

Tizona's happy face fell when he told her that he wasn't an alien. So much for the exciting story she had planned to tell her siblings about meeting an alien. Her pout turned in to a curious smile. "Why wouldn't you be a lion? I'm a lion." She inquired with rather wide eyes.
The cub had tilted her head before plopping down on her butt her tail flicking back and forth in the grass. "I was hiding!" She replied to his question rather cheerfully and with a nod. "I was running away too so they wouldn't find me too fast, that wouldn't be fun if they did." She explained with a krinkle of her nose. "Whatcha doing pouncing anything that moves?"

"Not everyone's a lion, you know." Auri snorted, looking superior. "Lots of people aren't lions. Like, my mom's not a lion, and also..." he trailed off, looking around for more examples. "That beetle's not a lion!"
"Hmph, runnin' away from what? And I was PRACTICING. You should be practicing too!" The leopard cub said sternly. "Otherwise, how will you get good at it? Everyone's gotta know how to pounce!"

Tizona blinked twice slightly confused. "I KNOW that not EVERYONE is a lion, I mean of course there are other creatures, like the butterfly that always escapes me despite my threats, that AWESOME bird that flew by and snatched up that butterfly, the mysterious voice, my sister's rabbit friend...the bugs...you...that creepy dog thing that wandered by..." She paused her voice trailing off.
What had she just been talking about?
She tilted her head in confusion at herself and wrinkled her brow. "What was I talking about?" She questioned blinking a few times at the other before shaking her head and smiling. "I was running from my parents silly, they don't seem to want me to have any fun!" The female stuck her tongue out at him playfully. "Practice is boooooring."

Auri just gave the lion cub a withering look as she rambled on. "Don't ask ME, how should I know what you're going on about? Psh, crazy lion!" he snorted, flopping onto his side on the ground, making a billow of dust rise up from under him.
"Practice is NOT boring, it's good! It means you can catch stuff and... stuff." He said lamely, waving a small forepaw in the air to illustrate his point. "Plus, chasing stuff is fun!"

Tizona frowned for a moment before shrugging and smiling. "Oh well, I'm sure it wasn't important." The cub stated before walking in a small circle and flopping to her belly. Dust rose up and got caught in her nose resulting in her sneezing.
She brought up a paw to rub her nose before wrinkling it a few times an looking down cross-eyed at it. Then Auri continued speaking and she shifted her gaze to him. The change made her feel a little woozy. "Chasing stuff is fun..." She commented with a nod. "Hiding from stuff is fun too!"
