"I bought a dozen volumes on banking and credit and investment securities, and they stood on my shelf in red and gold like new money from the mint, promising to unfold the shining secrets that only Midas and Morgan and Maecenas knew."
I'm always falling in love with books. For Christmas I just bought myself $100 worth of books off of amazon, even though I have a couple of unread books waiting on my shelf, and still I keep remembering other books I absolutely must get, but I must refrain myself because of all the unread books I've already bought.
I don't know if it's just me, but I love old books. Old, hardcover leather novels with gold leaf and yellow, moldy pages that have been thumbed a hundred times before. So when I find the entire set of original print Temple Shakespeare for sale on eBay for hundreds of dollars, I always go to sleep that night depressed and distraught, and for weeks all I can think about is how much I would like to have those books. But if I know that if I were ever to get my hands on those beauts, they would go unjustly unread, and I would have a heavy heart and a light wallet and no room in my house for furniture. So, I merely sigh, and wait, and occupy myself in the meantime with reducing my waiting pile.
