What would you guys consider EMO?
would you consider it being depressed all the time
cuttinig yourself
wearing skin-tight jeans
weaaring converse and vans
and wearing black all the time?
because people are always calling me emo and i dont know why..
i mean sure i wear emo pants and shoes and stuff
but im not depressed and i dont cut myself
in fact i LOVE myself, so why would i ever hurt me??//
i would also conssider myself pretty punk
i wear tube socks with short shorts and fishnets and a tie and hats and scarsf and gloves without tuops over the fingers and stuff like that but...
ya know..
and you know what else??
Avril Lavigne... stinks.. i mean girlfriend is an O.K. song.. but she used to be skater, and know she is punk
which i hate, cuz i have been wearing tube sox and stuff like thats since grade school, and know she just decides she i gonna wear it.. not trying to bad-mouth avril... but she is a poser and i hate her with a passion... =]

What do I think emo is?
Well I think emo is a type of music, that people took far too seriously and created a lifestyle around the subjects of the music, then they changed the music.
In essence, emo to me, is a bunch of kids with a loose grasp of reality, an inflated sense of self importance, the fashion of a transvestite and have no sense of humour or rationale at all.

WeLL, the word "emo" first came aLong in 1984 when it spLit from Hardcore...(emo being emotive hardcore punk-rock to give it it's fuLL name!)
Then when more peopLe came aLong and began Listening, they adopted the emo "styLe," which was basicaLLy white middLe cLass hardcore, then smoothed it out and voiLa....You have emo boys with their fLoppy hair and gLasses...

...I think emo's isn't just a stereotype....It defines what a certain person is....Like someone who has thoughts of suicide and cutting their wrists and regretting most of the stuff they did in their life....

Or Emotional-Harcore.
But it's been morphed into an image and stereotype.
As far as I'm concerned, labels are lame and just plain annoying.
And oh please, honestly who cares how long you've been wearing tubesocks? Just because you think she's a poser doesn't mean other people are going to be quick to change their opinions of her.
You know who I think the posers are?
People who define themselves by a label.

most people call anyone that wears skinny jeans, cuts, or anything like that emo. I believe emo is a mixture of style and feelings. mostly feelings. the feelings i would consided emo is not liking yourself withour knowing why, being depressed and anything on that line. that is only my opinion and no one has to beleive it. oh yeah trust me ppl call me emo all the time to but for reasons that i can understand

Emo is a music genre: Emotive Hardcore.
But, due to media, it has been twisted to become what whiny teenagers believe to be "emotional," and a whole lot of cutting.
I dispise media.

My definition of emo is just being someone who expresses their feelings more outwardly than others do - by music, by appearance, you know that kind of stuff.
Unfortunately, the first thing that comes to someone's mind when you say "I am emo" to someone, the immediate reply is "OMG YOU CUT YOURSELF?!"
