k, here's the deal. I basically have no musical influence around me. Most people had a parent or maybe friend(s) that got them into Led Zeppelin and other bands related. I got nothing. Not sayin i don't have friends, they just listen to different music. Anyway, ur all gunna have to be my influence from now on. *you nod*
I've been thinkin of buyin an album by The Who for a while now but i can't seem to find any other than the greatest hits. Any suggestions for an album, i'd rather buy a bunch of them than the greatest hits.

Tommy is a good start, also Meaty Beaty big and bouncy is quite excellent even though it is kinda a greatest hits thing

Here's a little run on on most of their albums. I'm excluding 80s Who because you'd have to be a hardcore Who fan to enjoy it XD. 80s Who is pretty hated, because they replaced drummer Keith Moon after he died. 80s Who is just so.. well.. 80s sounding XD. Not gonna bother with their latest album either.
This is just my opinion, but I hope it helps you decide.
Depends what you like, but
Who's Next is excellent for a starter. It has some good rockers, some mellow tunes, and everything in between. Some of their biggest hits as well.
Tommy on the whole is a pretty mellow album, with the exception of a few songs. But it's an interesting story, and has some catchy songs. It is the album that got me into them. I don't recommend it right away if you prefer harder rock.
The Who Sings My Generation is very R&B. Think white boys singing black mans music. I like it, but some don't. This album has My Generation, and The Kids Are Alright, so that's the kinda sound this album has.
A Quick One is a very quirky kinda album. I dunno what you'd call it as far as genres go, but it's a lot lighter than some of their later songs. I don't recommend this as a starter.
The Who Sell Out is VERY quirky. It's got radio jingles in between the songs, and some really psychedelic sounding tunes. It's a pretty mellow album though, and not considered their best. I'd wait to get this one, but you may like it. I love it personally. It's also rather hilarious, as it has songs about deodorant, hand-jobs, tattoos, baked beans, a money-grubber, and pimple cream, among other things. lol
Quadrophenia is their second rock opera album (the first being Tommy). It's a good album, has some great rockers, and lighter songs. The album is set in the Mod era, about a boy named Jimmy with a 4 split personality. Each personality has it's own theme, and each theme represents one member of The Who.
The Who By Numbers is SUCH AN UNDERRATED ALBUM! I seriously love it to pieces. I dunno what to say about this one, but it's got some really great songs on it. Some of the songs have depressing lyrics, but are surprisingly upbeat, which pwns. It also has some dirty lyrics thrown in there. Everyone likes dirty lyrics AM I RITE!?
Who Are You is a decent album, but not their best. I wouldn't recommend it as a starter. Some of the songs kinda have that synth-y sound, and pretty much the only known song on the album is Who Are You.
Perhaps go to a website with previews of each song on each album, and decide by which ever sounds best to you. 3nodding
I'm so in love with The Who heart

Oh, QUEEN! Queen goes through most rock genres, like camp rock, rockabilly, hard rock, metal, prog rock, synthy stuff, Britich Hall, pop rock...etc.
The Who are great too.
hmm...David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd (RIP Rick Wright), Supertramp, Beatles, Van Halen, the Doors...etc. Check out the playlist on my profile for more.
