The Goddess
Name: Mwangaza*
Meaning: "Light" in Swahili
Gender: Female
Realm: The Northern Lights
Story/Duties: Centuries and centuries ago, when lions ruled a mighty terroitory spreading as far as Europe, Mwangaza had a purpose, a duty. Whenever the gods were pleased, and a bountiful period was approaching, she would signal the Aurora Borealis across the sky to let the populus know that they were to be praised. However, as prides continued to die off and retreat, eventually her way of life died with them. There are no lights over the African plains, only clear sky and past kings twinkling down at their subjects. She has no longer any purpose in life, and wanders the savannah, trying to work out where her life went astray. She longs to make the lights again, to recognise their warmth. Instead, all she can do is wait until lions claim back the territory they lost. And perhaps one day she can light the night sky once more underneath the sun or the stars. Either way, everyone would sense her joy and their own good tidings.
Description: Her fur is dark as the night sky, with a sort of lit purple hue to it, while her wings are black, folded in at her sides. When she extends her wings, a warm light spreads out from them. The tufts of fur at each paw, her "elbows", and her tail are the same colour (a light green with perhaps a hint of blue), perhaps a little long and unkempt, but not quite scraggily. The hair on her head is the same colour, and of the same long unkempt quality, with the hair running from a little further down her neck than might be usual. A few thin braids tied with long thin ribbons also litter her hair, a sort of reminder of what was.
*The name's likely to change, I just wanted to reference her by name in her "duties".
