Most teachers don't want to hear what
you think, they want to hear what
they think parroted back at them. Listen to what s/he says during lecture, and come up with a 'personal opinion' that has to do with whatever the teacher seems most obsessed with. Racism, social progress, and overcoming oppression are usually safe bets. I try to look at that classes like that as exercises in creative thinking.
As in the doublethink of Orwell? XD
God help us. I have a friend who wishes to become a nurse, but she is taking all her general ed classes first. She too has a horror of her English classes as they make her read a lot of sexual, violent dreck disguised as literature, and then force her to spout back liberal opinions in order for her to get As. Since she is an older student and has some wrecked marriages in her life, she doesn't need to read about many subjects and it's triggering her. Thanks a lot, "progressive" education, for hurting more than you teach.
