English Classes are...
  FUN!
  Pointless after the 7th grade
  A place for a nap
Idiodic in every way, shape, and form.

This is in fact a rant about English class. Normally I'm all for classes that teach you something but when these teachers start saying that interperting a poem is something I have something wrong with this. Whenever we have to "figure out a personal meaning of a poem" I always get an F because the teacher says that the way I find a personal meaning it is the wrong one! Well I'm truly sorry if my own oppinion of a poem is in fact wrong when we are supposed to state our own oppinions! I'm also tired of the complete idiots in my classes (maybe its just my misfortune to get the idiodic classes) thinking they are cool by putting there minds in the gutter and to laugh at everything that sounds remotely bad in anyway!

Most teachers don't want to hear what you think, they want to hear what they think parroted back at them. Listen to what s/he says during lecture, and come up with a 'personal opinion' that has to do with whatever the teacher seems most obsessed with. Racism, social progress, and overcoming oppression are usually safe bets. I try to look at that classes like that as exercises in creative thinking.

As in the doublethink of Orwell? XD

God help us. I have a friend who wishes to become a nurse, but she is taking all her general ed classes first. She too has a horror of her English classes as they make her read a lot of sexual, violent dreck disguised as literature, and then force her to spout back liberal opinions in order for her to get As. Since she is an older student and has some wrecked marriages in her life, she doesn't need to read about many subjects and it's triggering her. Thanks a lot, "progressive" education, for hurting more than you teach.

I don't have anymore English classes left. I don't really have this problem because I don't like to give my opinion much because I don't like debating. Of course when I read a poem a usually don't have a opinion about. Although I have a feeling that I probably will have a class like that next semester.
