Sorry to use an old "I Love Lucy" line but I'm thoroughly confused.
1. I know there was a time war and Gallifrey was destroyed but how does this matter to someone who can slip easily back and forth through time? Is the Doctor the only one who ever went into the future? If not couldn't he simply snag some other time lord who did and tell them not to go back or to have children and leave them in the future?
2. Is there something that keeps him from just plain going back and rescuing a few?
3. What ever became of the Master? He was a timelord wasn't he?
4. For that matter how can any of the other races (Daleks - who can use a temporary time distortion and therefore can probably figure out real time travel, cybermen, etc.) truly be considered dead? One temporal whirl pool and they're all back!

No it's Okay!
I don't mind a spoiler or two because it will take the sci-fi channel another few years to catch up to real time (talk about needing a TARDIS!).
And as far as using the You Tube or any other net viewer, by the time I get a high spped connection to allow me to use them it will take a few years for me to download one episode. I've only been able to get a 28.8 kb connection for about six months now. Don't know why.

Answer to number one: IT WAS A TIME WAR. Gallifray and Timelords were destroyed ALL THROUGH HISTORY. 3nodding 'Cept the Doctor somehow survived. And so did the Master. But he is dead now. But hopefully will come back in some shape or form.:
To three: Rusty Davis did a bad job with the Daleks. He keeps killing off the entire race, then simply bringing them back. Whereas in the old series, the Doctor never KILLED THEM ALL. Just the bunch that were invading the random planet they were on or whatever. There was always more elsewhere.
Um, yea. 8D

The time war confuses me. I've never understood how the doctor can save some people throught history, but not others. I think someone needs to write a clear set of rules on the subject, with reasons.

They are certain rules of time that a time lord cant violate and galifrey falls into that rule as it cant be messed with. Please contradict me if im wrong

Hey. Wow this does make your head hurt... o.O
Them being wiped out throughout all of history makes no sense because then the Doctor never would have been born!
1. They're wiped out in the sense they no longer exist in their own futures. The Doctor is still living in his own future, Timelord sense, but the rest of them are not. However, they have been to the future in the past, so why couldn't the Doctor still encounter them in his future, and in their past, before they died, and told them to run/hide? I'm guessing the Doctor believes this won't happen because then it would mean that they wouldn't have died and he would have already been able to tell if they had survived. (I think he's said that if there were anyone else he'd be able to sense them, telepathically.) *spoiler in white* / Two seasons down the line we'll probably find out there's a whole planet of Timelords with fob watches who have forgotten who they really are! xd /
So if he does meet another in the future it couldn't be anyone who could have affected the outcome of the time war from his current point of view.
2. He can't go back in time to Galifrey because he would be crossing his own timeline = dangerous, like what happened in the episode where Rose tried to stop her Dad's death.

Cow Demon Answer to number one: IT WAS A TIME WAR. Gallifray and Timelords were destroyed ALL THROUGH HISTORY Well that explains it...I just thought they were trying to sound impressive by having one big battle thing in space xd My bad.

im in america and have to wait so no spoiling to me anything i have to wait a week before we know what hkapens after he became human..anyway from my research there is an engine built into the tardis that keeps them from going into galfreys past hence destroying this but if a timelord were skilled i guess they could remove it
