I made a hybrid after a week!
It's a purple rose!
Now all I need is a black rose, then I can make those two go together to make blue!!

LUCKY!
I've been trying for a long time, but I haven't had any luck.
I've got a huge field of roses in front of Nook's shop, but I haven't gotten a single rose hybrid.

Soon I will have my blue roses

If you have a neighbour who likes planting flowers your chances of new flowers growing in town are heightened I heard.
Just plant flowers near their home and they'll get to gardening quick.

If the area around neighbors' houses is empty and any have a gardening interest, you'll notice many spawnings of flowers near their house (out of the variety of twelve). Now, on the whole of the town, this would typically lower your chances of hybrid spawns.
Your best bet would be to place flowers near all of your neighbors' houses as to lower the chances of them "spawning" any flowers of their own.

Ah, that explains a ton. I planted one flower by everyone's house. Within a few days, Nan had about 12 flowers surrounding her house. It all makes sense now XD

I have a TON of the special flowers, here's a list:
Tulips: black, purple, pink, and orange.
Cosmos: black, pink, and orange.
Roses: pink and orange.
Pansies: blue, purple, and orange.
But, I've been playing for over a year now, It took a LONG time to get them all.
