I've been forced to start thinking of occupations so that I know where I might want to go to college.

The more I thought, the more I think that I want to become a minister (I've already filled in once or twice for sermons, once for the full service because my Grammy (the former clerk of session of my church) couldn't find a replacement minister and I stepped up), I've been told I'm fairly good.

Now this isn't just because I've been told by a rather small amount of people that I'm good, the calling's there...

I've even had a vision (those are beyond rare for me, trust me) while praying, and I'm pretty sure I met and talked to a holy figure (I don't know if they were angelic or spirit or just what, but the burst of white light around them and the feeling of immense love yet awe gave me a pretty sure feeling that this was definitely a good Entity), who said I aked to be filled with the Spirit and that that was kind of the side-effect (the vision, that is), but when I asked about ministry, the Entity said something to the effect of "Good, if you want to", and then the vision-y thing ended.

My question is this, however (you didn't think this was just a rant, did you?)...

I am 15. I don't entirely know if this is the real thing, this calling I feel, and I don't want to go through with it if I'm simply acting on a whim that I may regret later.

My family and my church's minister recommend, aside from praying on it, talking to as many ministers locally as possible, because every story's different... but I've prayed on it, and I'll ask about this as opportunities arise, but I still want to know opinions from all sides...

All opinions are appreciated!

True, true... The only problem's college looming up, and I don't really want to go for, say, a Religion Major in a college with a bad program for it... but otherwise, I'm just kind of leaving the rest to God.

Most priests I know have an undergraduate degree in something OTHER than religion. Psych is useful, I know several with history degrees, heck, I know one who was a rock doctor (phd in geology) before she was called. I don't know what kind of requirements your denomination has, but you don't *have to major in religion.

I know. I'm just fascinated with religions of the world...

Besides, I'm going to be taking some psych over the next year, so I ought to have a good foundation, and I might minor in something totally unrelated.

As for feelings- well, for lack of words, feel them out. Explore them as best you can and if they stay pretty much the same over years then go for the goal. Prayer is good and so is talking it out with people who can help you, but the best judge to your own destiny is always you.

As for practicality, go for general if you're not entirely sure what you want to do. I know most of the uncertain people I know here just take Social Studies as a base- the programme is designed to basically let you take what you like while still earning credits. That way you can take psych courses (Psych 101 is actually a requirement in Social where I live), religion... And once you *do* figure out what you'd like to do, you can always switch your concentration to say, Religion or something and the credits you have done will carry over. Just a thought ^.^

I'm back with an update, and *hopefully* a chance to get the guild active again. sweatdrop

I've heard that a religion major is actually a decent way to go, but try to broaden my base of knowledge too, since the more I know, the more I can use. I just started Introduction to Psychology (High school level) and it seems to be interesting, some of these things are making a lot of sense to me.

My major obstacle to wanting to be a minister is doubt. Definitely doubt... in myself, in my faith, and just general doubt. I figure it's probably from Satan, but I don't know... so, anyone got any advice? Response? Something? This last bit is to try to get this guild out of its activity slump...
