The blue Ichsa grinned and shook his head. "I don' think it would s' long as 'e didn' go out past where 'e could stand up. Still, fair enough t' be wary of somethin' that big an' powerful. I wouldn' wanna be standin' down 'ere durin' a storm I tell y'. Gets pretty rough an' throws rocks around like mad."
Since he'd first seen one the silver marked stallion had found himself with mixed emotions about the extreme weather. Though he had to admit to being a little intimidated by the sight of water flinging itself so hard against the cliffs that spray could touch him some paces back from the edge it was fascinating too. He'd heard storms referred to as violent, as the sea's anger but to him they seemed more boisterous than furious. Perhaps the waves never really intended to hurt anything, they just didn't know their own strength.
And there he went thinking of it as alive again. Maurice snorted softly at himself and turned back to his companion. “Still, I’d like t’ meet this Skittles of yours sometime if that’s possible. Never really talked to a Rit proper before.”

"That's what I told him!" She said, exasperated, but then grinned, letting out a giggle. "He's just silly, I think. He gets scared of lots of things," she laughed, prancing and splashing about in the water again. My, my, this water certainly was a bit colder than the water in the valley. Why? Maybe it was because this water was part of the ocean, but why was ocean water colder than valley water? The thought made her brain hurt, so she pushed it aside for the moment.
"It throws rocks around?" She repeated, wide-eyed, frozen in mid-step. Her emerald eyes traveled down to the water she had been prancing in, and thought. How was it able to throw rocks around? Was it really that powerful? "It can really throw rocks around?" This time it was asked of the blue Ichsa, wondering how in the world it could be possible.
And then his comment about meeting Skittles sank in and she grinned, trotting over to him again. "Oh, I'll bet he'd love to meet you," she giggled, flicking her curly tail. "He'll be with me in the valley, but if I come to the ocean again I'll bring him with me."

Maurice nodded. "Oh yea, really impressive it is too. Like I said, it eats away at the cliffs too. Y's see the sand?" the Ichsa nodded down at the grains under their hooves. "That's all tiny bits of rock off the cliffs mixed up with bits of shells an' stuff like that." A big animal that ate cliff and shell and provided peace and sanctuary to so many. It was a different kind of peace than he'd found in D'ob; a bigger, less safe peace but peace all the same.
"Per'aps I'll come back t' D'ob with y' f’ a bit," the silver marked stallion suggested after a moment's thought. "I mean, once I tell Rhea where Cressie is she'll prob'ly be off t' find 'er so I won' need t' be hangin' about 'ere waitin' f' Cressie t' show... It'd be nice to see the valley again. I didn' really look around as much as I might've last time." the bright-eyed Ichsa gave a lopsided grin to his companion. "I was a bit skittish at the time, ne?"

The sand? Niz looked downward at the sand beneath her hooves, pausing to paw at it and she watched the shifting grains slide back into the indent she had made. "The ocean makes the sand?" The theory sounded impossible and plausible at the same time. She opened her muzzle to speak, but then he said he might go back to the valley with her.
"Brilliant!" She beamed, prancing about him in a circle. "And yes, you were rather skittish back then," she said with a giggle, stopping in front of him. "Why were you so nervous?" She paused, blinking. "Oh!" She said, suddenly realizing something. "You can meet Skittles then!"
She smiled, flicking her tail. Yes, she believed Skittles would really like to meet Maurice. But, before the valley... "Could you show me around the ocean, Maurice?" She asked with a bright smile, ears perked. There wasn't that much to see that she hadn't already seen, but she was still keen to see all there was.

The blue stallion gave a slight shrug and a lopsided smile. "I'd taught m'self t' be afraid of people. Not a very clever thing t' do really, eh? Still, yea, it'd be good t' see this Skittles of yours." Rit always looked so softy and friendly. Perhaps he'd have to find one to keep around as a friend of his own. The little things slept so much that he'd still have his alone time but were awake often enough that he wouldn't lack for company even if other Nequus weren't around.
"First things first though," the horned stallion went on after a moment. "I gotta show you all the best bits of the places I been, right?" Which were the best bits? "Oh, I'll 'ave t' show y' the bit of rock that's a way along the coast that way," he tossed his head to indicate. "There's no beach once y' get around a corner an' there's this great big stack of rock split off from the rest of the cliff, real impressive that is." And he'd have to show her the bit of the beach the other way that was all made up of large smooth stones, that was a fun place too.
"Oh! An' I'll show y' some of the caves," Maurice went on with a bob of his head. "Like little homes all cut into the rock just f’ you with a soft sand floor an' everythin'. I think the one I picked for m'self is the nicest one but then I'm kinda biased I guess." It was a good place to live; the sea very seldom got high enough to enter his little home and he'd never been short on warning that it was time to clear out and let the sea reclaim the hollow for a little while.
It had only happened during the highest tides he'd seen and the strongest storms and he’d always found it satisfying to return to a smooth floor afterwards and interesting to see if the ocean had left anything behind. He’d found some very interesting things that way. A big shell, a twisted up piece of wood, the bone of some sea creature or other had been only a few of them; all were displayed in the wall of his home as high up as he could reach and as firmly as he was capable of wedging them.

"You taught yourself to be afraid of people?" The creme mare asked, tilting her head a bit. How could anyone be afraid of people? And why would he teach himself to do so? It just didn't make much sense to the outgoing mare. She offered him a grin, ears perked. "I bet Skittles will love you, though!"
"Oh yes, I want to see everything! It's my first trip here, and it'd be nice to have a guide to show me around," she said with a giggle. Caves? That sounded interesting, maybe she could find something cool in there. Oh, and part of the cliff had broken off? That seemed very interesting. There were so many things to see, the bright colored mare was eager to start. "Wonderful! When do we start?" She asked, prancing around the blue-coated stallion in an enthusiastic circle.

Maurice gave the other Ichsa a lopsided smile and gave himself a shake to throw off a few flies that had settled on his blue hide. "Well that good t' hear, s' always good t' be liked..." A thoughtful frown overcame the black-horned creature's face and he scuffed at the ground distractedly as he pondered.
"I think," he said after a moment, "we'll go see the stack first, s' not far from 'ere an there an easy way back up the cliffs jus' a little way down there." Depending on how good Niz was at flying they might even go over to it; there was still grass on top and eating grass on a small piece of rock was a novelty he felt the exuberant mare might enjoy.
"This way then," the blue-eyed stallion smiled, Turing away along the beach and setting off at a comfortable trot. It was good to see the crème mare again, he thought with a smile, good to know just how far he'd come since the winter. The least he could do to repay the ocean for being his home and making him himself again was show it in all it's glory to another creature. Maurice smiled softly to himself again as he glanced back at the green-eyed mare; Niz was going to love this.

She beamed at him, clearly ecstatic about the ocean. "It sounds wonderful!" She exclaimed, tossing her curly mane to the other side of her head and she pranced to the side a bit, ears perked. "Lead the way!"
She set off at a light, energetic, high-stepping trot to follow him, her emerald eyes darting every which way as they went. Her first trip to the ocean, and she was prepared to thoroughly enjoy herself.
