((8D -does crazee time warp- ))

Kibuulu'ardhi seemed to be lacking in nothing, personality, cutability, friends. But, it was still well known that she was without a mother who had died giving birth to her. She didn't know that technically her father was not her father, and her genetic father was in fact some rogue that had killed her mother's spirit and harmed her. None of these facts were known to her, and thus did not leave a stain upon her mind. She was carefree, lovey-dovey, and a little bit of an attention hog, all because she did not realize that her family shouldn't be as happy as it is. It was supposed to be a tragedy, but it wasn't to her.

Buu just didn't realize that she was supposed to have a mother. In her mind it was checked under the 'optional' box. Buu had a father, and he was everything to her. Of course, some times he was a little odd, but she loved him all the same. She loved her sister and her brother as best friends. Why would anything be wrong with this picture? Youth was pure bliss for Buu.

Perched on top of a smaller boulder, her eyes lit up with excitement as a rodent scurried on the ground below her... just in front of her. Usually she was against most forms of violence, but her young mind was transfixed upon the creature. She ignored how high she was above it, only crept closer to the edge of the rock, posing herself for the leap onto the small creature. A grin curled her lips, and with an excited yelp she leapt forward and off the boulder.

Of course she missed the rodent entirely, of course she didn't land perfectly, and of course it hurt. She lied down on the ground, stunned, and then felt the tears building up in her eyes. The rodent ran from cover, and she gave a pitiful cry, "Commmeeee baaacckkk! Please!" She considered it too dangerous for her health to get up and chase it, though. Stupid, stupid idea!

Nyunya had to laugh at the young female. She'd been an accidental spectator to the 'hunt', and though it ended in failure and the young lioness was obviously hurt, it was still amusing to her on some level. She could see her own sons and daughters doing the same thing, and she could see herself rushing to soothe away the pains of learning. And further back, of course, she could see herself, even smaller than Buu, making those same mistakes as a cub, with her mothers tending to her bruised limbs and injured ego, back in the Umande'mfuni, the Mistweaver Lands, the place she would probably always think of as her true home, and the land of beautiful waterfalls. She loved her life here, she loved her mate who was raised here, and she loved her cubs who would be raised here as well... but it was just hard to forget about a place in which she had known shelter and happiness for the beginning of her life.

But she was a mother now, indeed she was, and with that role there seemed to come certain instincts that had never been there before. She couldn't leave Kibuulu when the young lioness was obviously injured, or at least her pride was. Even though Kibuulu was not her daughter (little did she know the little cub was actually her aunt-in-law), she had to check and make sure she was not too seriously harmed, and that she could make it home without a problem.

Coming up behind Buu, and managing to hide away her amusement (it took effort, but she managed to conceal it without a trace), she asked quietly, "Are you all right? Where did you hurt yourself?"

Buu jumped, obviously surprised that anyone had witnessed her greatest failure. Underneath her brown fur she flushed with embarassment, expecting to be laughed at. Her brother and sister, if they were here, would've laughed at her until their stomachs began to ache. Sure this lioness was an adult, but she had been a cub once too, and maybe she liked laughing at little cubs for their mistakes. Buu was a social butterfly, and her hunt had been turned into a social blunder. It was utterly and completely humiliating!

"I-I... am fine. I don't think I hurt anything." She hadn't tried to move yet, so she really didn't know if anything other then her ego was hurt. Gathering up what was left of her will power, she sat up, her little limbs trembling as she fought back the urge to cry. It really didn't hurt, but she could look at herself and see that she was bruised. A bruised cub wasn't very appealing, and she wanted to always look her best so others would like her. Now no one but her family would like her. Cubs had a wonderful way of overexaggerating every little injury. "Yeah, I don't hurt.

I'm Buu," she added, trying her best to be very polite and fight through her embarrassment. But then she realized that Nyunya could mistake 'Buu' for being her real name! "It's Kibuulu'Ardhi, but that's long, so I just say Buu."

Nyunya looked the young lioness up and down, obviously not believing that Buu wasn't hurt. With her newly developed mother's eye, keener than a hawk's in some situations, she easily picked up on the way the little cub's legs trembled, and the way Kibuulu fought back her tears. Again, she was reminded of herself, and how she'd tried to put on a brave face for her own mothers when they fussed over the bumps and bruises. It kept making her want to smile, even to laugh, but she made a rough guess that it wouldn't be appreciated. She herself would have hated it if either Denge or Ithi had laughed at her, or worse yet, Ash, Dhar or Feddy, and she wisely assumed Buu wouldn't like it much, either.

"Well, I'm Nyunya, but everyone I know calls me Ny, so you can, too." She smiled kindly down at Kibuulu, partly because the small female looked like she needed a bit of reassurance, and partly because it lessened the urge to giggle a miniscule amount. "But it looks to me as though you are hurt a little bit. Are you sure you don't want to tell me where?"

"It's nice ter meet'cha, Ny." She was trying to remember her manners when speaking to an adult. Distantly she remembered her father teaching her some, and she had listened intently. They just weren't interesting and no matter how hard she had tried they flowed in through one ear and went out the other. She remembered better the color of the flower petals she was picking then what her father had said. Even if she didn't quite remember... she was going to try to be a good girl and be nice and make her daddy proud. Her father and her siblings were everything to her, and it would horrify her slightly if she ever disappointed one of them. Buu would like to think of herself as the model daughter. She tried very hard at being whatever her father wanted her to be. The only problem was that he never really told her what he wanted her to be, so she had to guess'timate. Sometimes she could tell that he was happy with how she was turning out, but most of the time it wasn't quite clear.

"I'm not hurt... badly." Sitting back down, she twisted her paws, feeling for injuries that were serious. "I think I just... hurt. Bruises, maybe?" There was no blood, which was a good thing, because if there had been blood she would've already been crying by this point. Blood was one thing she seriously freaked out over, and she really had no idea why. Blood was bad.

More and more Nyunya was getting the urge to laugh at Buu. This time, it was the little female's peculiar greeting that almost made Ny laugh at her, but wisely the older lioness reined in the urge. If Buu had just fallen and injured her pride more than anything else, the last thing she would want is a stranger laughing at her expense, even if it was all in innocent fun from Nyunya's view. She remembered how touchy about such things she had been at Kibuulu's age. Particularly about her over-small stature. She had gotten rather riled at anyone mentioning it, especially a rather snot-nosed (or so she'd thought at the time) lion named Taabu. The much older nehpew of Buu, if only Ny knew it.

"All right, then." After giving Buu another look-over, she nodded her head, satisfied at least. She couldn't see anything wrong that stood out that little bit needed to grab her attention, so she had to assume Buu wasn't hurt too terribly. "Are you playing by yourself out here? Where are your mother and father?"

"Yeah, I was playing all by myself until you came." Her brother and sister hadn't seemed to want to play, and so Buu had taken off on her own to try and find some fun. It was a little boring, playing with oneself. But if one knew where all the fun spots, boredom never entered the day. Buu particularily had fun at this little pond, chasing ribbity-things and picking flowers to try and make stick to her hair. Sometimes she even managed to catch a little minnow, but she could never hold onto them for long. There were tons of ways for a little lioness to entertain herself... it just took a while to find them, and that could be a little discouraging for those cubs who weren't as determined as Buu.

"I don't know where my dad is right now. He's somewhere around here..." She shrugged her small shoulders, glancing around as if her father was about to come out from under the brush. "And I don't have a mom. I have a brother and a sister, though, and that makes up for not having one." To her, the lack of a mother had not really done any harm to her. She had never really known Mng'Ariza... so what was there to really miss? Having a mother couldn't be all that important, and she was satisfied with just her one parent.

Nyunya frowned ever so slightly. No cub should have to play on her own in order to find fun when she had brothers and sisters, or even just a parent. In her youth, Nyunya had often liked to be off alone, exploring new places within the Umande'mfuni and seeing new sights. But in times when she wanted the company of others, she'd had no shortage. She had never had to wander off in order to find fun. Though Fedha had been and always would be an annoyance, a bratty, arrogant younger brother she had no time for, Dharba and Asherah had always more than made up for his attitude. They had always been up for an adventure - before Asherah, vanished at least. And if the two of them couldn't be found, her mothers had always been there for her. Nyunya felt somewhat... sympathetic that Buu had to find fun elsewhere than at home. "Well, in that case, how about I stay and play with you for a little while, hm? How about that?"

The older female nodded slowly at Kibuulu's mention of not having a mother, and her frown turned upside down to a small, sad smile instead. For Buu, not having a mother might not be a big deal, but for Nyunya, it was. Denge had been the most important person in her life since the day she was born. No one, not her brothers and sisters, Ithi, Taabu, her cubs... no one could fill the void Denge had left behind. She didn't know if Buu was blessed or cursed, not knowing her mother so the pain of loss wasn't as acute as Ny's. But either way, Nyunya knew she herself had been blessed by having Denge in her life for as long as she had.

Buu's eyes seemed to brighten with happiness as Nyunya suggested playing with her. Sometimes it was really difficult to find someone to play with, even though there was so many other cubs around. Buu was a home-body and liked to hang out at her family's den with her brother and sister. She loved having friends and playing with them, but sometimes she felt bad for playing with them when she could be playing with her sibslings. She tried to balance things out, but for some strange reason she ended up playing by herself a lot of the time. "I would really like it if you played with me! We can play whatever you want!" It didn't matter that Ny was so much older then her... She just wanted someone to play with, and the older lioness did look like fun.

In a spur of the moment decision, she hopped on over to Nyunya, purring loudly and rubbing against the other's legs, weaving between them as she tried to express her gratitude. She really was a loveable cub, always adoring of her peers and sweet-hearted. The loss of her mother seemed to have no negative effect on her. Buu could still smile, still be happy for the littlest of things. As long as she had the family she had now, everything was perfect in the cub's own world.

Nyunya chuckled softly at Kibuulu's enthusiasm, finding it sweet. Especially the way Buu's face instantly brightened with happiness at just the idea of having someone to play with. Nyunya suspected that becoming a mother had made her irrepairably soft, but she didn't even care any more. Whatever changes had happened to her were more than worth it for all these little moments; she loved seeing that joy on the faces of her babies, and it was even the same for Buu. Nothing made her happier than making them happy. "How about you decide what we play, sweetheart? I'm sure you know better games than I do."

As the little female rubbed up against her, though, Nyunya was forced to push whatever melancholy had been hanging around her to smile affectionately, already taking quite a liking to this cub. She leaned down to nuzzle against Buu, returning the loud purr with a gentle one of her own, in the habit of doing it softly to soothe her cubs when they needed it.

"Hide and go seek!" She exclaimed this with as much enthusiasm as she could muster, eyes brightening cunningly. It was clear who would have the advantage in such a game. Buu was small, and her pelt blended in well with the environment. If she closed her eyes she'd look like nothing more then a patch of dirt. Hopefully, though, Nyunya wouldn't accidentally step on her if she tried to blend in with the earth. In comparison, Nyunya lacked her earthy tones. In fact, Nyunya would stand out frighteningly well against the environment. Her pelt was bright, white, and pink. The pink would be easy to spot, so if Buu got stuck having to find the other she would be able to find her quick enough so she could have the part of the lion who hid. Hiding was always the funner part of the game.

Once Buu was done nuzzling and cuddling (which was one of her favorite things to do), she scampered away from Nyunya, giving the other the biggest of grins. "I'm gunna hide first. So you gotta count to twenty and then come find me. We can't wander too far away, 'cause then it'll take all day to find the other." Without further ado, she scampered off to go hide in one of her favorite spots. She disappeared behind the dense undergrowth, crawling and wiggling her way underneath a bush. There she layed down, and waited patiently for the older lioness to come and find her.
