Heaving a sigh of discontent, Kalawai flipped her wings agaisnt her back and continued to move further and further away from her friends. Growling softly to herself, she again tried to rationalize what, essentially, amounted to her abandoning little Majoka and not-so-little Sukari.
They're only mortals, she reminded herself, here and gone in the blink of an eye. Still. She couldn't escape the fact that in her own rough way, she'd grown very fond of the two. Even to the point of giving one of her wing feathers to Sukari with a solemn promise to return should he or Majoka ever need her help.
The little River goddess couldn't imagine them ever really needing her help, but the offer had been made and would be honored.
Heaving another sigh, this time tinged with growing loneliness, she paused to scan the horizon. She would leave the Pridelands for now, but where could she go?

From where the little goddess had taken a rest in the grasses within the outskirts of the pridelands, rested the not so cubbish God of all things Virtuous, also known as Jamala. And he had been thining to himself for the last few hours, staring at the beautiful land infront of him, watching as the sky scorched it with red and orange colours, making it almost beckoning.
It had been awhile since the little entourage had made their way towards the Pridelands, but yet had they even entered it. Mala himself had almost done so, but having seen so many lions in such a spot at one time, it had made his then white self turn tail and return to the group. Too many spirits, not enough time.
It was about this time when a sound broke his concentration, a sigh, one that sounded like they had a lot on their mind. Turning his head to regard whoever had made the sound, his mismatched eyes fell upon the sight of another of his kind. A little goddess.
"Sounds like you have something on your soul, have you come from the Pridelands?" He asked, unable to stop himself from a start of conversation. A god was a rare commodity, and he always made sure to get a word in with any he saw.

Just barely controlling her urge to yelp, Kalawai turned, hackles raised, to stare at the much larger lion who'd spoken. She noticed his odd eyes before realizing he had wings like her. Well, that was all right. Relaxing slightly, she moved a little closer to get a better look at this god.
"Something on my soul?" she repeated softly. "I guess that is one way to put it."
She stretched, flexing her claws as she answered the rest of his question. "As for the rest, yes, I came from the Pridelands, though I wasn't exactly part of the pride there." Turning bright, curious black eyes to the god, she decided a few questions of her own would not be taken amiss. "Is that where you're heading? The Pridelands, I mean."
She paused again, then decided giving him her name would be safe enough. "I'm Kalawai. Who're you?"

Crisis temporarily adverted, he mused internally after the short moment in which the little godling looked liked she was going to take off, or worse, attempt to scuffle with him. Althought he had been much larger, Jamala was never much for fighting. Sure he would sometimes take a minor battle to wound and or kill prey, but beyond that, he was a soft-paw. Even Ekevu could outwit him.
Hearing the question, he shot his attention back towards her, his eyes watching her carefully, but not threateningly. "Y-Yes. Well, I was supposed to be taking that way with a mortal family that adopted me.. kind of, before i left towards here." He answered tentatively, "We've taken residence on the outskirts for now whilst they figure out what to do next. It's very strange, following them so closely and learning their ways. I admit, they have much wit." Or atleast, of what he saw. Even the somewhat slow Kijibwa had intellegence the little god didn't expect. "But if I may be so bold, can I inquire on why you're leaving?" he asked, his ever-curiousity showing once again.
With a little bow of his head, he finished with his own introduction, the sound of jewelry jingling filling the air as his little knick knacks moved with his head. "Jamala'Peponi, it's a pleasure to meet you, Kalawai. You may call me Mala if you wish."

Her confusion manifested itself as overly twitchy wings and tail.
"I have to leave. I have to learn how to best do my job," she replied softly. "I... I can't learn that if i stay in one place."
Would that make sense, she wondered. She knew it was a true enough statement, though she was riddled with guilt still for leaving her 'little brother' behind.
"It's nice to meet you, Mala," she continued after a moment. "I didn't know that mortals could adopt gods."
Curiosity chased away grief for a moment as she considered this interesting bit of information.

Jamala watched as the feelings welled up infront of him, as the little goddess hurriedly rushed through the first question, his ears swirving forward and his eyes watching attentative to her before nodding.
"I think I understand what you mean, though, with not being able to understand yourself without being somewhere, and no where at the same time. I've always been on the move." he stated in passing, hoping that even that little bit would make her feel maybe just a little better. He, too, left someone important behind when he left the little jungle area he found himself as a cub, and hated himself until he found her again. But he learnt much.
"It came as a surprise to me too, when they openly took me in for the journey. I had expected them to be confused, or even frightened by a lion with wings." he stated, nodding as he talked. The family had been so nice, and he was always worrying that he was too much a hassle to them. "Were you not with the mortals while in the pridelands?"

Flipping her wings against her back, Kalawai sat and thought how best to answer the question. Did staying with Majoka count? Or the little time she'd spent with Sukari? She wasn't sure.
"I spent a brief time with one of them. I spent more time with the other and took care of him until I thought he was old enough to stay behind and find a new family. We hid in a little secluded spot near the river."
For a moment, she envied this older godling. He's had a family around him to help and she hadn't had anythign but instinct to go off of.
Then, in a rush of confession, she blurted out, "I gave 'joka one of my feathers to keep. That was all right, wasn't it?"

With a tilt of his head and a look that could only be deemed as "deep in thought" Mala listened to the little Goddess' confessions, before smiling and nodding to her, almost as if hearing her completely, but at the same time, agreeing with whatever he had ben thinking of. "That doesn't sound too bad, almost sounds like you enjoyed the time you had with them, even if it was short." He mentioned, before opening his eyes a bit wider in curiousity and flickering his ears, before giving a relaxed sigh, and nodding.
To him, actually having been able to go INTO the Pridelands sounded wonderful, having spent most of his time sitting on the outskirts, waiting to see what made this place so beautiful, from the inside, not the out. Giving a soft huff, he turned his attention back to her.
"N-No, I don't think it's a terrible thing at all. I'm sure if you really felt like it was the right thing, and feel good about it, you've done well." he stated, before looking around and leaning in to whisper, "Truth be told, I have given one of my feathers away too, Ekevu was her name." he said, before leaning up again. "I figure as long as we're not promising GODLY POWERS! to those feathers, we're cool, right?"

Still looking uncertain and worried, Kalawai gave a slight nod.
"I don't think I promised godly powers. I just told him to keep it and if he ever needed me, I'd know and come find him."
That was a godly power, was it? She didn't think so, but then again, they could each be using a different definition of what a godly power meant. Sighing softly, Kala wonderd if she was destined to stay this confused for the rest of hr life.

A soft smile crept over the maw of the larger deity as he watched the emotions play off her face softly, his own reflecting nothing but pure enjoyment of the results of this meeting. It had been far too long since he talked to his own kind. Well. Sure Lions were his kind too, but Ethereal beings were hard to come by in this day and age. Shame.
Giving a soft nod, he looked away for a moment. "Sounds about what I did when I gave her my feather; or well, she took it from me but it was the same pinch from my wing all and all. You almost feel closer to them - I think it's the feather from your whole, or the feeling you have for the one with the feather." He stated, somewhat dreamly.
"But who am I to say, I've never been truthfully amazing with my magic, you know?" Which was the truth, Jamala had learnt from cubhood to survive mainly on physical strength, he didn't normally need to call on spiritual power.

"I'm... not sure if I'm good at my magic or not," Kala confessed in a somewhat shamed voice. She was silent for a moment before continuing, "I want him to get stronger. And if I stayed with him always, he wouldn't. He'd stay little inside..."
Hearing her own arguments laid out, without 'Joka's soft crying to distract her, Kalawai felt that she'd made the right choice in leaving. We both have to grow up, she thought. And if I had stayed, I would have stayed little and weak inside too.
Pulling herself up, she stretched out her wings slightly, suddenly ready to be gone and start learning more. This one in front of her seemed strong in every way that mattered. Bowing her head, she thought furiously for a moment.
"I didn't promise godly powers. Only that we'd always be friends. And I want to learn to be strong for my friend and have him learn to be strong for me. If my feather helps him with that, it wasn't wrong to give it to him."
Bowing slightly, she stood and smiled up at the bigger god. It was time to be gone.
