I know it's not much consolation, but i'm at home all day, too - except when I'm in class. So I know how much it sucks. sweatdrop

I think I am going to take the online course offered here: http://www.careerstep.comI have a friend who works from home doing MT work and she loves it. This is the online course she recommended for me.

I've always thought of doing that, but there are so many Work-from-Home scams out there, I was afraid to try one. So, your friend is doing that work now? o:

Yes, she's been doing it for at least 5 years now. This place is reputable, even helps you get your first position after you earn your certificate. I've considered it in the past too, but like you was wary of all the scams. Liz does it though, and I'm not the first she's helped get into the profession so I trust this one.
Edit: Well, I've not actually applied or anything -- so I should say she's helped a few people before get into it -- I haven't done anything yet.

and hey, there is a board that advertises the CareerStep course... lots of people in the MT world apparently go there, and this one lady is selling her course materials for $650. :3
And I think Career Step allows it, since she says it's good until Oct 2008, but there is an extension available... I guess you'd have to ask her about it. http://mtdaily.com/Ads/ads.html
(scroll down to about 2/3, or Ctrl + F and search for Laurie Thain)
Meanwhile, I may contact this other lady about her Blackberry 8700.. xD

Oh. That's a little worrisome, all those people selling their courses.

D:
I didn't mean to make you worry! O: But you have a 'leg up', since you already have someone in your corner that did it. :3
and I suppose you can always ask them why they're selling - that is, whether they found it unsatisfactory, or if it's for personal reasons, or whatever. o: Like that one lady who has a medical condition and can't do it anymore.

True, I know it's for real because of Liz. And it would be a significant savings to buy like that.
Hmm...

Yay! New work at home professions for everyone!!
See? This is why it's for the best that I was fired. Things will work out, and I will be able to work from home and not have to deal with people all the time. There will be less stress, less anxiety, less depression, etc, etc, etc.
At least, that's the plan! XD

Sure you could do that! And that's what the foot pedal is for, right? So you can pause in case you have to? I mean, I'm sure they didn't figure Gaia in when they designed it, but still... xD
and I might be right behind you on that, too. Of course, I have to finish school first, because I think I wanna give this Lab Assistant thing a try, you know? But if it doesn't work, then Medical-Transcription-at-Home, here I come! scream
