Chris Powell

"Oh, don't freak but...I'm going with Karen Starr so she'll be at our table."

*He ran out before Wally could say anything. TIME TO FIND WALLY A DATE!*

"YeahbuhWHUUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAAAAA?!"

Chris didn't hang around to hear Wally's hilarious reaction. Oh, well. Wally crossed his fingers that Chris would succeed where Wally himself had inexplicably failed.

Linda wondered if Donnie would pick her up or if they should meet at the Dance. After all it's just the decorated Gym... But if this was a formal event. That everyone had told her then maybe he should pick her but from her room and walk together?

Oh why hadn't The Powell gone through all of these details with her before the dance? It was the details that mattered! The smallest thing and all of this will have gone all wrong! and it was all her Fault!!

She would have failed The Powell and herself! This would only end in disaster!!

gonk

Linda had to take some calming breaths. Why on earth had she been in such a state of Panic? This wasn't like her at all. To crack under pressure. She was Supergirl! And Supergirl NEVER cracks under pressure!

To Supergirl there's not such thing as pressure. She smiled having talked her self into a strong bit of confidence. After all. It was only a school function!

She walked out of the room, deciding she would meet Donnie at the dance.

*Chris headed down to his thinking spot....the end of the dock on Hero High's lake. Who to get to go with Wally? He had dated practically every girl at school and never called them again. Most of the female student body still held resentment towards him for his player ways. The trick was to find a girl he hadn't dated. Dinah Lance but she was Oliver Queen's girl. He was pretty sure Lisa Snart and Mary Marvel would be bad for the speedster. Lois Lane...mmm...nope. Clark might get pissed and that would be BAD.*

idea

Oh...my...god...I AM BRILLIANT!

*This would take a bit of trickery. His target didn't respect him and she certainly wasn't a fan of Wally's.*

You can do it, Powell!

*After psyching himself up, Chris headed to the office of the Hero High Herald. Linda Park, Chris thought. You're about to get a date!*

Linda was in the newspaper office getting together a few things, making sure that her portfolio would be outstanding, and basically wrapping up a few things on some articles for the paper. She smiled briefly, after the semester was over she was leaving Hero High for a school in New York, one of the best for high school journalism.. Linda liked the paper but wanted more to be a TV anchorwoman once she got out of school more so then working for a newspaper.

She looked over at a picture of herself, Clark, and Lois... if nothing else she would miss those two, and even her roommate Karen to some extent, but for the most part she didn't fit in here. Linda realized that a while ago, besides journalism the only thing she had going for her was the fact that she knew how to use some really big guns... thanks to Frank Castle's training. The young woman was about to leave the office when she saw someone... it was Chris Powell. Chris was such a dork... a blonde ditz for a girlfriend, victim of the football team, and then his wannabe playboy best friend Wally. Linda lifted up an eyebrow towards Chris.

" Chris right? Sorry but I don't think Clark's here right now. Is there something I can help you with?"

Linda West

Hi, Linda! Actually, it's you I wanted to talk to.

*Chris cleared his throat. This had to be flawless. He knew Linda didn't think much of him. Heck, her body language was practically screaming it. And he knew she would balk at going anywhere with Wally West. But that's because she didn't know Wally's secret....that he was Kid Flash. And Linda LOVED Kid Flash.*

I don't make it a secret that my hero identity is Darkhawk. And I kinda lead a team. A team in which Kid Flash belongs. Him and I are pretty good friends. So, we were talking earlier and he was bumming out that he had no date to the Spring Formal. I offered to help with that by finding him a date. He agreed but he didn't want to go as Kid Flash. He wants to go as himself.

So...I'm here to find out if you would save Kid Flash. Save him from a night of loneliness at the prom.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 07, 2013 5:21 pm

Linda's eyes narrowed towards Chris, if she had super powers then one could swear that they saw ice daggers coming out of her eyes.

" Oh? Listen Chris... I don't care that you're Darkhawk. As fond as I am of Kid Flash and wouldn't mind him going as himself... you better NOT be trying to set me up on a date with Wally West. Everyone in this school seems to think Wally and Kid Flash are the same but I've met both of them and they are totally different. Kid Flash is genuinely a nice guy, whereas Wally is just some guy whose living in his on delusions and trying to be something he's not."

Linda knew Wally wasn't the clueless playboy he often pretended to be, but if that's how he wanted to live it was none of Linda's business. Yet part of her couldn't help but be concerned about him... on Valentine's day she even got him a present, though she lost it before she ever had the courage to give it to him. Still, Linda wasn't going to wait for Wally to get himself together because she knew that might never happen. But one thing Linda was certain of was that Wally was definitely not Kid Flash.

" I wasn't intending on going to prom since I'll be leaving this school at the end of the year I didn't see a point. I'll help Kid Flash out with a date as long as you swear to me that it's Kid Flash and not Wally West."

*Oh, crap. Kid Flash WAS Wally West. Linda was as clueless about this as Lois was about Superboy/Clark. He really didn't want to lie to Linda....but he totally would if he had to. THIS WAS FOR A GOOD CAUSE! Linda liked Kid Flash. Linda, at one point, liked Wally. She just needed to merge the two!*

Linda, I promise you that Kid Flash will show up IN HIS MASK. He will then take off the mask and reveal his identity to you to prove who he is. And then you can go to the dance with him. Will that be enough to assure you?

And I swear that Wally West the Player will not be there. Just meet him in the gardens at 6 PM so he can escort you, okay?

Karen slipped into her dress. Smoothing it out she smiled at. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. It was the dress in a nutshell. The dress had a history, it wasn't new like some of the other girls had. Karen for one didn't need to worry about ANYone else having the same dress as her. Because Karen didn't get her dress from The Mall. She'd gotten it from a Consignment Shop.

For the first time in her life money was starting to become an issue for her. Her father had all but cut her off sending her much small amounts of money ever since her acceptance into the Avenger's Program. What she didn't know was that it was not a punishment from her father. But a test once again to try and teach Karen humility.

She'd bought all the accessories she could afford, earrings, necklace, and bracelets. Anything to help the dress look better. But it was then she realised. The dress didn't need any of that. It in it self was a work of art. It was simple. Like Karen. It didn't need glitz and glam.

Because like Karen. It was a star all on it's own.

She simply slipped on a pair of white silk gloves, flipped her hair with some low heat vision, put on her shoes.

And just like that the dress was perfect.

Linda still didn't trust Powell... If Kid Flash actually wanted to take her to the dance then why didn't he just ask her himself? Plus this was totally last minute, if Linda really wanted to go she could've easily said 'yes' to Ted Kord or Eel O'Brian... both who asked her out and she refused. She sighed... realizing that she must've been a last resort or an after-thought

" Fine... fine... I'll go. As a friend of course."

She then pulled Chris in close to her by grabbing the collar of his shirt.

" But keep in mind if this IS some kinda trick or something I'll hunt you down and make you feel a world of hurt like you've never imagined. I may not have super-strength or anything like that... but there's not a weapon out there that I haven't learned to master."

Linda's glare was sharper then any knife, her threat was clearly very real, and if Chris valued his life he would take it as such. Linda then smiled looking sweet and innocent... like she never threatened anyone at all.

" Well then... I guess I better get to my room and get ready."

Linda then walked out of the office and towards the dorms where she shared a room with Karen.

*Chris looked around nervously after Linda left.*

I-i been threatened by w-worse.

*He headed back to the boy's dorm.*

Wally better kiss my rear for this. Putting my life on the line for love....

*He banged on Wally's door and entered without permission.*

You have a date. BUT THERE ARE RULES! So, sit and listen.

*Chris shoved a chair at Wally.*

Carol Danvers was surveying the area, for any signs of trouble before the party began. So far it was Mystique and her band doing some music testing, and a few students hanging some last minute decorations around the gym.

It was there she noticed Steve Rogers guarding the punch bowl. Meaning it was his job to make sure no one spiked it and to keep the kids safe if they drank it.

She walked over to him, in her own gown, and it was smoking. She couldn't help but have a small smirk on her face.

"Carol. I'm really glad you could make it. But please I'm on a very serious mission."
"Punch bowl duty? They have Captain America on Punch bowl duty."
"I'm the only one they could trust with this serious mission." He replied seriously. "Why? What do they have you doing?"
Carol looks a bit grim. "Tickets. Then Dance Floor..." She sighed.

Steve laughed, that caused Carol to frowns some more, but his laugh was contagious and soon she found herself laughing along with him.

"Oh! Can you believe it?" Steve laughed again.
"Yeah, Thanks so much for inviting me Steve!" She chuckles.
"So how's your intern? Karen, is it? I hear you making excellent progress."
"Excellent progress? She's stubborn, bull-headed and never does what she's told." Carol replied annoyed.
"You do realize you just described yourself right?"
She glares at him but says nothing.
"I just mean that there's a change in her. She had an outburst today and there wasn't a single case sent to the infirmary today."
"I suppose you're right. That even impressed me today."
"Is it true you gave her a mission to find a date to this dance, knowing her boyfriend way away."
"Oh don't look at me like that. Of course I did. She's somehow managed to isolate herself from everyone around her. Did you know she talks to the mascot elephant?"
"Doesn't everybody?"
"She took it to a Wedding... I have the file."
"Yeah I see that you did there...Good move."
"Thank you."
"But Carol, she's improving. Learning. Taking what you are teaching her and making it her own."
"I guess the next generation is going to do things their own way. Maybe even better than us."
"Could be."

Linda went into her room, she really didn't have an outfit ready since she hadn't even expected on going to the prom. She started to dig through her closet till she found a dress she bought when she went to New York for the interview to the new school. Linda bought the dress, not knowing if she would ever have a chance to wear it, and at the same time she couldn't resist shopping in New York. The dress was red, simple and yet elegant at the same time. Linda took a shower, brushed her hair, got changed, put on some make-up, and put on a bit of perfume. Really... getting her a date last minute she should be upset, after all was it wrong of her to want a bit of notice? Linda put on some finishing touches, a necklace, a watch, and some high heels. She paused a moment looking at herself in the mirror.

" 6 PM in the gardens huh? Powell better not be messing with me or he's a dead man."

She then noticed Karen in the room... feeling a little guilty for not noticing her roommate sooner Linda smiled at her.

" Great dress Karen. Who are you going to the dance with? I take it that Anakin's still in a galaxy far, far away..."

Linda was sitting by her desk with her purse open making sure that she had some emergency essentials... lipstick, a cell phone, a small notepad, a handgun, and a pen.

Karen borrowed Linda's mirror to apply her own shade of nude lipstick. She was keeping her makeup simple so the dress could shine through.

"Oh it's nothing. Chris Powell almost begged me to go to the dance with him. I guess his girl friend is off on that all girl's Island again. He broke me down eventually so I said I'd allow him to hang out with me for the night."

She put her lipstick away in her purse, and looked at Linda sincerely.

"But who are you going with? I just really want to sit with someone I can stand longer the 15 minutes. You have to sit at the table with me."

Linda paused a bit looking at Karen..

"Powell huh? I hate to be the one to tell you this but even with Anakin away you could do much better then that dork."

Linda really was curious as to what Chris was up to now. Was he trying to mess with both her and her roommate. Not a good idea.

" But it's a strange thing that you bring him up because just a few minutes ago he was in the newspaper office begging me to go on a date with Kid Flash. If this is one of his lame-brain schemes then he's a dead man. "

Karen then asked Linda to sit at the same table as her..

"Of course I'll sit with you guys... if for no other reason then if Powell tries to play me by doing something like having Wally show up in a Kid Flash mask I'm soooo having him hung up the flagpole by his boxers."

Wally listened as Chris outlined the rules Linda Park had laid down for their date. He felt a sinking in his stomach...this wasn't going to go well. No WAY this could possibly go well. The instant he took off his mask, she'd probably pull out a gun and that would be the end of Darkhawk. It'd probably create all sorts of time paradoxes.

But...this would be his last chance. Mary Batson was telling anyone who'd listen that Linda wasn't coming back next year. He would probably never even see her again.

"All right." Wally stood up and pumped a fist in the air resolutely. "Let's do this."
