at the time of 'god save the queens' release, it was banned everywhere in uk. even when it made it to no.1 song on the charts, they just pretended there was no number one and left it blank

I heard about that, and eventually they were banned from playing anywhere in the UK and they went to either Sweden or Switzerland and played. Their first gig was at the CBGB I believe, but that might be The Ramones.
They were released from EMI records for that song, right? Or was it Anarchy in the U.K.?
