I can never tell. My MSN always says he's on, but usually 'out to lunch'.
I think he's only really at his computer when it says he's online, though I can't tell for sure.

I'm not sure I should really say yes or no to that... I at least hope you're suggesting some good sort of meddling... but I really have no idea what's going on with anyone anyway, so it's not like I can say.
