Because PI is noir and vampires are all dark and angsty. I guess.
Angel didn't really set out to be a PI though I guess, and they kind of dropped the noir-ish/detective themes in the last couple of seasons in favour of your run of the mill Sci-Fi/Fantasy plots (unfortunately, imo: without the noir pastiche it seemed a lot cheesier -- that might have just been bad writing in general though).
Anybody remember what happened to Kate? I liked her.
Also, did anybody else kind of want Angel and Faith to hook up? lol.
Or Buffy and Faith. I'm easy.

SaberFireTiger Kate? Er... went onto another investigator show? xd Well after her father died she was kinda written out. Yeah, that's what I thought. Sucks. What is up with Angel and blondes, though? Seriously. SaberFireTiger Angel and Faith. gonk Just friends! Just friends! Just friends! XD I kinda like the whole redemption theme. It is sort of strange, her being a slayer, though. SaberFireTiger Then again her with that principal guy is weird too. mad Yeah, whoa. I totally forgot about that.

Ya, Angel and Faith should just be friends. So should Angel and Cordy. I actually like the earlier seasons of Angel a lot more then the later ones. I loved the whole Angel/Cordelia relationship. Cordelia was just so great. She brought a ray of light to the dark show. I liked Kate too. Too bad she was written out.

Oh Kate, where art thou? domokun
I like the whole Angle and Faith redemption thing too. I mean Faith did something wrong and Angel is the only one who could help her cause he is going through the same ordeal. That is something Buffy never could understand.
And Faith is awesome. I mean why do you think all of the potentials liked her better. I mean Buffy is cool too but still Faith rocks. Only thing I didn't like was that after Faith became leader Buffy and Spike had a thing that made them look canon.
Principal guy. confused

Well, yeah.
If you look at it technically -- in terms of concept, plotting, pacing, characterisation, dialogue, &c. -- Buffy is far, far better written than Smallville. Not only that but whereas in Smallville you get tropes and cliches played straight and rehashed, on Buffy they seemed to be more careful about which tropes they invoked and how, deconstructing some and subverting others. It made things a lot more interesting.
Without running Smallville down too much, I feel like you can compare almost any aspect of the two shows right down to the credits and make a case for Buffy being superior.

Buffy is classic and will go down in history for its greatness. Smallville just can't compare. Buffy is Lois while Smallville is Lana.
I think Avatar is a much better show because the creators already had everything figured out when they started it so you know that everything they put into the show is important and necessary for the ending to work out.

I've seen it a few times, actually. The BBC has the rights to air it over here -- they actually showed it a couple of weeks ago.
It's OK. It's kind of cheesy and not really what the TV series came to be about, but it's not like I want to stab myself in the face for watching it either.

I might rent it from my library. Not sure yet seeing as I don't think I will like it much without Sarah Michelle Gellar.
