Lt. Brookman DarkElf27 Ahh, so you recommend him on personal merit? Sounds like a lot of Guard novels. All separate, or in a series? I'm saying it because he scowled at me and signed my novels, he's a bloody good writer. And he wrote just one Guard novel. Soul Hunter, Blood Reaver and Void Stalker are a trilogy about the Night Lords, Helsreach is about the Black Templars at Armageddon, the Emperor's Gift is about the Grey Knights and the secret war for Armageddon. The First Heretic is his magnum opus, got him on the New York Times best-seller list. It's a Horus Heresy novel about the Word Bearers. Interesting, first time I've heard of a Black Library book getting onto the New York Times best-seller list... I'll look into it!

I think A Thousand Sons by Graham was the first one, that or First Heretic, either is a great addition for such a list.

If it sells well enough it will get there and thanks to the Horus Heresy BL has broken through to the mainstream audience.

It also does not hurt that we have an author Like Dan Abnett who comes with his own fan base.

Well, Brotherhood of the Storm was a let down, didn't really add anything and it wasn't all that flash. Trés disappointed.

Anyone read "The Emperors Gift"? It's got a bomb shell about mid book.
I totally was like "whoa!"

Maybe its just me, but the main character in that novel is an awful lot like the main character in the Night Lord books and that guy is an awful lot like Grimaldus and Argal Tal. Seeing a pattern here.... sweatdrop

Every author has one or two traps that he or she tends to fall into from time to time. Dan is fond of introducing new characters into ongoing stories and you can be certain that said character will not survive to see the epilogue. Graham is a bit too heavy-handed on the political references from time to time. talk2hand

I think ignorance is bliss and I tend to miss out on all of these.
Except for Nick Kyme and his love of the word Plastron. I noticed that one right away.

Got tired of waiting, bought a copy of Pariah, going to burn through it like bad food through a colon.
