(( ninja No I didn't...)) (( whee Thanks. I fixed 3nodding ))
For several moments, she just stands there doing nothing but concerting as much of her reiatsu pulse onto the edge of her zanpakutou as possible. She doesn't want her reiatsu pressure to implode on her again, but she wants the edge to be as sharp as possible. She can tell, just by doing this, that she probably wouldn't the time in a hectic battle to try something like this. She just wants it to be perfect in practice so she can use it in battle when she's more used to it, and more powerful to boot. This would be perfect for slicing a hollow mask in two.

Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. Hikari keeps concerting her reiatsu pulse onto the edge of her zanpakutou. She listens to the roar of her reiatsu. It diminishes the more is concerted into or onto a single mass. She's using that as a cue for when to slice, and learning a lesson from when she started concerting it. She's not about to wait too long or try to early. When the roar is nearly gone and pulse cycle has finished, her eyes widen and she takes a swing at the leaves, a great (at least for her level) gust is unleashed upon completing the powerful slice. She watches, ocean of blue reiatsu with red, chaotic swirls in her eyes, as the sharp edge pushes the leaves out of the way. She doesn't hear a single leave crunch or watch one fall to the ground.

Hikari sighs. "That was good...but it wasn't perfect." She looks at a single leaf. She doesn't know how many are like that one, but it has a small slice in it. It wasn't enough to split it and send a part of it to the ground, but it's a sign that she needs to practice this part a little bit more before she can move on to splitting rocks and boulders. Taking that stance again, a basic stance showing a little more defense than offense, Hikari closes her eyes and begins concentrating on her reiatsu pulse. She lets it swirl around her, picking up speed and strength. She knows where she wants this part to be. Without any hesitation, she sends her pulse to the edge of her zanpakutou right when the roar dies down to nothing.

As she opens her eyes to watch the pulse wash over her sword, she makes notes of everything she can. The chaotic mix of red still hasn't been noticed, and it would probably take a keener eye than any student to notice. It's a sign of what kind of inner struggle this child has. She concerts as much as her pulse onto the edge of her zanpakutou as she can. "Child. Do you need my help?" "Luna-chan? What do you mean?" "Even if you can't yet hear my name, we can still fight together. Try swinging me now." She doesn't wait. She reacts. The moment Luna-chan says 'now', Hikari is swinging her. This time the wind that pushes off is a little more intense.

"Squee!" Hikari's happy. Yes. She seriously did make that noise. She looks at the leaves as not a single one of them is crushed or sliced. She looks to her zanpakutou, realizing she's not tired. "Thanks Luna-chan." "It's nothing, child. We're a team. You need to get stronger so you can truly fight together with me." Hikari beams a smile as she begins concentrating on her reiatsu pulse once more. She wants to make sure she's mastered sharpening her blade before she tries breaking boulders. It feels like every time she does this it gets easier. As her reiatsu swirls around her, she feels confident she can do this again. "Ready for one more go, Luna-chan!" She can't hear Luna-chan over the roar of her reiatsu, but she can certainly feel the positive response.

When her pulse reaches its peak, she immediately concerts it onto the edge of her zanpakutou. She knows that in a battle situation this would be a lot harder. She needs to get her reiatsu control to the the point she can do this as fast as she can swing a sword. For now, she'll just leave it as it is and hope practice. When her pulse is fully combined with her zanpakutou, she quickly communes with Luna-chan. When they are fully ready, Hikari swings her zanpakutou with full force, easily slicing through the air yet leaving every leaf undisturbed. She can feel the rush of her reiatsu as it slides off her zanpakutou, and she can see that she's getting better at this.

Shunketsu just lay there...staring up at the sky and pondering what he was doing wrong... hmm...that cloud looks like a puppy...no wait...I shouldn't be thinking about clouds...hmm...I could use a bowl of...NO!! no food either...must concentrate...hmm...I'm trying too hard huh?Shunketsu stood back up...and got in his ready position...this time though, he didn't tense up his muscles, but relaxed instead... "ok...here goes nothing..." Focusing purely on reiatsu and nothing else, Shunketsu waited. Focus...Focus...Focus.. and before you knew it, a small poof appeared around him, stirred a minuscule amount of dust around his feet and disappeared... [24]

Wiping sweat from her brow, Hikari rushes over to Nagi's table and plucks yet another fruit. Satisfied, she waves at him and rushes back to where she's been training. She quickly chomps down the fruit, making sure to chew and swallow properly, before looking around for a (large rock/small boulder) to be her first practice 'dummy' to pulverize. She wanders over to it, wiping her mouth from the fruit juices and begins studying the boulder. She wants to make sure to get this right so she doesn't go hurting herself.

(( xd Too bad his reiatsu and reiatsu control is so much lower than Hikari's. Huh?))
As her inspection of the rock/boulder completes, she stands erect directly in front of it. Unlike what some might expect from a child, she makes no apologies to the boulder for what she's about to do. She takes that odd stance of hers. Her right foot is a little ahead of her left and her shoulders are loose. Her elbows look locked while they aren't and her knees are gently bent. She's ready for more defensive movement, something fluid. She has no formal style, but this feels comfortable and looks like what a lot of soldiers did when they were fighting or training. Taking a meditative breath, she begins concentrating on her reiatsu pulse. She lets it swirl around her in this odd chaotic yet orderly and elegant dance. It quickly begins picking up dust and small particles and twisting them around her.

"You'll fail, Little Princess." Hikari ignores the voice, knowing it will disappear when she can hear Luna-chan again. "You know you'll fail. This is a lot harder than swinging at leaves." She continues to ignore the voice. She doesn't care if she fails this time or can't succeed today. She'll just keep training until she can. She'll keep getting stronger! Then the roaring dies down and she thrusts her reiatsu onto the edge of her zanpakutou. As she watches the ocean like effect of her pulse, she waits for Luna-chan.

"Okay, child. This is going to be a lot harder." "I know." "Swing me now!" Once again, she doesn't hesitate. Her eyes widen and pupils dilate as she swings her blade down hard and fast. She can feel her reiatsu explode upon impact, and the wind kicked up by that violently bats her hair and gi around, fixed to her body of course. She makes a meager noise as the impact sends shock waves up her arm and makes her head ring. She steps way from the rock/boulder, tightly closing her eyes even as her sword continues to resonate from the impact. She barely manages to open her eyes to a squint to see that she didn't do any damage at all. At least it didn't seem like she did. The boulder is still standing there. No cracks. No dents. No chips. It's just there...

Heaving a breath, her head finally stops ringing, her arms finally stop shaking, and her sword finally stops reverberating. She goes over what she might have done wrong before she steps back up and starts concentrating on her reiatsu pulse again. She at least wants to take a chip out of the boulder. It would proves she's strong enough to be near ready to use this. She just wants to take a chip out of the boulder! As she concentrates and begins to hear the roar, that annoying voice pops up again. "Oh come on now, Little Princess. You really think you're going to succeed?" "Maybe not now, but I will succeed!" The roar dies down immediately after Hikari's retort, at which point she immediately thrusts her reiatsu pulse onto the edge of her zanpakutou.

Hikari actually doesn't care who that voice belongs to. She doesn't even mind hearing it, but something is far too familiar about it. She shakes her head as she's actually motivated to succeed more than she was before. "Child. Are you ready?" "Not yet. A little more..." Her reiatsu violently pushes around her, but she just keeps concerting it to the edge of her zanpakutou. She wants so much of it concentrated onto that edge that there is no pressure left left around her, only the pulse of her zanpakutou. "Child. This is too much." "Just a little more..." Hikari can feel the strain, but she wants to do this right. "Swing now, child. Any more and you'll burn yourself out!" With a powerful swing, her zanpakutou slices through the air and impacts the boulder. She doesn't release her reiatsu. She forces her concentration to keep all of it on the edge of her zanpakutou. As she suspected, this time she begins to make a slice in the boulder...

Hikari feels her reiatsu slip, and her eyes go wide. This could only mean one thing. She braces herself as her reiatsu pulse implodes on her zanpakutou and herself, sending her flying backwards. She rolls several times before hitting the tree she started all this at and coming to a stop. She has her eyes closed and slowly begins peeking out to see just what she did. The boulder is still sitting there, but it has a good chunk taken out of it. She quickly gets back on her feet, inspects her condition, and rushes over to the boulder to inspect it.
The first thing she notices is how deep the 'crater' formed in the boulder is. She can't help but smile that she was able to cut that deep before she lost control. She makes a quick mental note of what she did right and to further investigate what she did wrong. She goes over the boulder, as if with a fine-tooth comb and takes in several mental notes, not to mention images, of what the damage report is. What she did is probably laughable by even graduates, but it's a good start for her. There's a good chunk taken out of the boulder, and that's more than she asked for.

ChaosHuntress (( xd Too bad his reiatsu and reiatsu control is so much lower than Hikari's. Huh?)) ((yes...so...SO much lower...and it'll stay that way for a while...can't believe you're pretty much at 70 posts already...I cry...)) So, Shunketsu made what he would call progress...but there was a constant ring of laughter in his head... " HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" "SHUT UP! At least I got something!" " HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...stop it...HAHAHA...you're killing me...HAHAHAHA" ok...Ignore him...Ignore him..."ok...let's try again..." Shunketsu tried again, relaxing first, then concentrating on expelling reiatsu((I almost typed 'chakra'...))... "easy does it..." This time, a bit more came out, shifted a bit more dust, and knocked an extremely tiny rock on its side. [25]
