Leila was absolutely beaming as she strolled down to her house, her new friend chirping cheerfully as it walked alongside her. Looking around the small town, she realised how long she'd lived there for, and just how much she was going to miss the place once she began her journey. Sensing her sorrow as she sighed quietly, Bulbasaur rubbed his head against her leg, reassuring her that everything would be okay once they'd left. That really did make her feel better, and she rewarded him by carrying the small pokemon in her arms, letting it rest for a while.
Eventually, they reached her home, where upon entering, they found themselves completely alone. Leila's parents had left her when she was just an infant, unable to care for her as well as they should. In their place however, her uncle stepped in, who worked as Professor Oak's aide in his laboratory. Although recently, he'd spent a lot of time down there, and was neglecting her, much like her parents did. Just thinking about her family made her ill, so she tried her best to shrug it off, not wanting to distress her pokemon.
After a few hours, Leila was finally ready to leave; her things were all packed, and she's left a note for her uncle, if he ever came back to read it. Sighing once more, but deeper this tie, she locked the front door to her house, then posted the keys through the letterbox. After all, it would be a great while now before she ever came back to this place again. Wiping away her tears, and waving goodbye to the few people that saw her off, she set out into the wild, beginning her quest to be become a pokemon professor.

"Ratata, try to get out!" Train yelled as the rocks started surround the mouse pokemon. Ratata scrambled to climb over the rocks, but to no avail. It fell back inside as the last rock covered the opening.
Ratata looked around while it was inisde the small hill of rocks. It shook itself, trying to shake off the pain that had come with the last rock. Ratata pushed against the rock on the top and burst out.
"Good job, Ratata!" Train said, relieved it had been able to escape, even though it had still been hurt. "Now, Quick Attack, before Geodude has a chance to use that again!" Ratata became a blur, and appeared beside Geodude, slamming hard into it, sending Geodude crashing to the ground. Ratata jumped back and landed in front of Train. "Ta!"

It was true that Geodude had been slapped around by the Quick Attack but due to his Rock type he was hardly even damaged as it was. "Defense Curl then Rock Throw!" Brock commanded this time. Maybe his opponent wouldn't try to lower the defense back again, but it didn't really matter since Geodude already took little to no damage.
Geodude once more crossed his arms over his body as the protective glow appeared signaling the incresed defense. Then choosing a couple small rocks from the ground he lobbed them over towards where the Rattata might run to taking a heavier one and launching it forcefully at it's direct position.

"Aww. What a cheap strategy." Linalee whined to herself seeing that Dante had 'lost' the match. She walked over to the two trainers. "Nice try" she consoled Dante as the two seemed to have reached a standstill.
Mag decided that this time it would be good to interupt and speak to his old friend. Check up on what he'd missed since their last meeting and be introduced to that other girl that was there so he might remember why she was so familiar. " 'Sup Dante." Mag stated as he casually came down.

"Ratata, try to dodge, and use Focus Energy!" Train called. Ratata ran between and around the rocks, all the time focusing to raise it's critical hit ratio. It stumbled and fell, getting hit by a rock, but didn't lose concentration.
"Now, try that Quick Attack again!" Train said, and Ratata, even though it was a bit slowed, still appeared by Geodude super fast and slammed into it. It was twice as strong as the last time. A critical hit. Ratata ran back to Train, and waited.

"Well?" Nina said, her arms crossed and her Pokemon, although barely conscious, coming up behind her. "I'm waiting." The boy had his own arms crossed and wasn't making eye contact with her-- rather, he was looking off to the side, obviously wanting to make any type of apology.
He sighed. "I-- I'm... I'm..." The girl was frustrated; anyone could tell. "Say it." Another sigh. "All right. I'm sorry. Are you happy now, dammit?" Nina cracked her neck. "A little bit. You could have been a little bit more sincere, especially considering that you're speaking with a Gym Leader. I don't tolerate insubordination from worms like yourself."
The boy looked a bit shocked when Nina announced she was a Gym Leader. "You are not. What Gym do you run?" "Saffron's. I took over in place of my sister, Sabrina. I was on my way there now, but then I ran into you." "You... you were? Because that's where I was heading, too! I wanted to make a Gym challenge to see if I could defeat you."
Nina turned around and recalled her Pokemon, before turning back around to face the boy. "Hm. What a coincidence. It looks like you couldn't defeat me though, even on your own terms." She smiled bitterly. "By the way, what is your name?" The boy looked off to the side again, contemplating whether he should lie to her or not-- even if he did, Nina would still be able to tell.
"I-- err. My name's Joshua." Another bitter smile from the girl. "Joshua. Nice name... Now, Joshua, get away from my city before I have you reprimanded." Her eyes were dark and annoyed, and her mouth was bent into a twisted, irritated frown. She nodded up in the direction of Cerulean City, demanding he head that way. He did, gazing into her eyes for a split second, before pivoting around on his heels and beginning to walk up the hill which Nina had so recently come bounding down. He turned his head to look at her as he walked, once, maybe twice, but no more than that.
Nina let out an annoyed huff as she herself turned around, heading through the north gate which led into her city. She passed through after a lackadazickal guard gave her a slight nod, granting her permission to enter. She let out a relieved sigh as she took in the familiar sights of her second hometown-- the clusters of tall, tall buildings comforted her; they were an odd contrast to the small houses that were in Blackthorn which she had grown up around and had become so accustomed to seeing.
"Home."

Rena pulled her Pokedex out of a small pocket in the front of her dress. It was an odd looking machine;a version that Kilik had never seen before. It had two screens. The one on the top showed the Pokemon while the one on the bottom showed its entry, location and other information. "Where'd that come from?" Kilik asked her, placing his chin on her shoulder and blinking at the contraption.
She looked at him and smiled. "It's a brand new version of the Pokedex," Rena explained, "Professor Oak shipped them out fairly recently. It's supposed to bear information on other Pokemon outside the three regions, but I doubt that's true." She pressed a button on the bottom screen; it was a touch screen. Scanning through the Hoenn Pokemon, she came to a stop on a blue Pokemon with an onion shaped head.
"Whoa, wait," Kilik took the device from her hand, "How do I go back?" he felt her reach under his arm and pressed a blue button. A picture of a large dinosaur looking Pokemon appeared on the top screen. He had a blackish body with a metal head, with two large horns pertruding out of his forehead. Metal bands wrapped around its thighs, as if constricting its power. "An Aggron!" he lifted the Dex into the air and looked up at it, causing Elekid to fall from his hair and land into Rena's lap. The plug found another comfortable position in her lap and rested there. "Rena! Let's go heal up!" he laughed, "Then we're going back to Hoenn!" he pointed to the south west.
She took the Dex out of his hand and smiled with half closed eyes. "Really? And what makes you so sure I'll Fly you there?" Kilik groaned at the word and shook his head.
"Fine. Uhm.." he looked around for a moment and placed his hands on her cheeks. He kissed her forehead quickly. "There. Payment. Now let's go!" Taking Elekid's Pokeball and recalling his partner, he jumped from the rock and ran off towards Fuschia City.
Rena sat on the stone for a moment, her cheeks as red as her hair. When she realized he was gone (it took a minute or so), she jumped off and chased after him.

"Nice job so far Geodude." Brock told his pokemon as it rose again, still hardly even damaged due to it's resistance to normal type attacks. "Try another Defense Curl and then Rock Tomb!" He commanded once again sticking to his all-around-defense strategy. Geodude crossed his arms in the x patter again waiting the stat increase which came after a moment.

"Don't think that'll work again." Train said, grinning. Ratata jumped out of the path of the falling rocks. "We'll just have to keep this up, Ratata. It might take a while, though! Tackle!" Ratata hit Geodude again. "Tail Whip, too!" Ratata hit Geodude with it's tail afterword.

Kilik skidded to a halt inside the Pokemon Center, looking frantically for the Nurse. It wasn't like one of his Pokemon was dying; he was dying to get an Aggron. "I'll replace Sudowoodo with him," he said, placing the Pokemon's containers into the tray. The nurse wheeled them away as Rena came through the door, huffing and puffing. "Hey there!" Kilik laughed, walking over to the couches and sitting down.
She sat down next to him, taking a deep breath. The girl smiled at him, remains of her blush still on her cheeks. "What'd you run so fast for?" she asked, gulping a large amount of collected saliva that was caused by her running.
"I want to get the gang healed, then head off to Hoenn as fast as possible," he explained. "I've got to see where I can capture an Aggron." He slipped his hand into Rena's pocket then snagged the PokeDex, flipping it open. "Now then..." he scanned the bottom touch screen and pressed 'Hoenn', then pressed down to scroll to Aggron.
She squeaked when she felt his hand in her pocket, then looked at the information. "You can't capture them in the wild, hun," she giggled again, "You have to get a Lairon or an Aron then evolve it." She tapped 'Back' on the touch screen and then clicked on 'Lairon', pressed another button and took him to the 'Location'.
"Hmm..." Kilik's eyes scanned the screen.

Annoyed with the speed of his enemy Brock tried to come up with way to stop it more. If Rock Tomb kept missing it wouldn't do the job. "Keep up with Rock Tomb, aim where it will be not where it is Geodude!" He commanded as the pokemon launched another unsuccessful (but ever so close) Rock Throw.
Switching back to his other attack Geodude began making the small initial spires pop out of the ground where Rattata was heading as it swerved around to avoid them. But eventually there were enough that it swerved right into another set that had been previously made and Geodude lobbed the final piece that he was holding over top of it. This Rattata sure has spunk but it shouldn't be able to handle too many more of Geodudes attacks. Brock noted.

"Ratata, jump on top of all the rocks!" Train said, and Ratata jumped onto the highest rock. "Now, use Focus Energy again!" Train called, and Ratata was completly focused.
It had managed to dodge the rocks Geodude had thrown, but looked at the now maze-like battle field. Train saw her pokemon's distress and called out, "Don't get discouraged, Ratata! We can win this!" Ratata looked up and got ready to attack.
"Alright, another Quick Attack!" Even slowed, Ratata was still quick on it's feet, and was soon slamming iteself into the rock pokemon again.

But this time the Quick Attack wouldn't be effective since Geodude had used the only other TM move allotted for Brock to teach his pokemon for gym battles of this level, Protect in the last second. The green barrier over him dissapeared after the pokemon scurried back but Brock knew he couldn't rely on that tactic all the time.
"Tackle it next time it charges at you!" Brock shouted. He knew that would hurt Geodude but a Quick Attack into a charging rock from a squishy enemy like that had to hurt it more than him.

Kilik handed the device back to the girl after finding the whereabouts of the Lairon he desired so greatly. "Looks like the only place to find a Lairon is in Victory Road," he told her, "Luckily, Hoenn's Victory Road doesn't require the eight badges to enter. So long as we can have Pidgeot Fly to the Center located by the waterfall there..." his eyes seemed to sparkle with excitement.
"Are you sure?" she whispered, "Hoenn's a long way away, Kilik. I know how much you hate Flying, too.." the girl slipped the PokeDex back into her pocket, then looked up at him.
"I'll get over it, once I have my Lairon," he crossed his arms over his chest and leaned back in the seat, "It's like I'm riding the gravy train on biscuit wheels, Rena. Nothing's bothered me since yesterday!" he reached his arms above his head and stretched, "I don't have a care in the world now!" Kilik sighed heavily and closed his eyes, placing his hands behind his head.
Rena curled up and rested her head on his chest, closing her eyes. "Hopefully everything will turn out the way you want, Kilik..." she sighed, closing her fist in a clump of his shirt.

Hearing the two voices behind him Dante turned his head back to look at them. "Thats ok, I wouldn't have lost if I had been a good trainer and have given Apollo some different types of moves. Though I never thought a pokemon like that existed. Now that I do know though I must have one!" He said with a small smile. He didn't like loosing but this had some good parts to it, for one he had seen a must have pokemon, the other being another excuse to go TM shopping. Hearing Mag Dante smiled slightly at him. "Long time no see. What have you been up to lately?"
