12nyc Kentarvos 12nyc Dis is my first year playin French Horn and IT IS DA BOMB! People say dat I'm really good but I dunno...but wat bugs me da most bout band is some of the stuck up instruments (mainly trumpet!) who think that they're better cuz they play that instrument and that you don't matter! I mean there's a place in our band room to put away our intruments, the french horns get only two shelves that fit and all the rest are either huge(4tuba) or tiny(for trumpets) and one day some trumpet players decided that we didn't matter and they put they're instruments on our shelf when they had plenty of space on their's so I walked up to them and was all like "Hey! Use your own shelf when you have the room! We only fit on two you guys get 5!" and then this one girl was all "So? Who cares!" UGH! Is it only MY schol?!?!?!?!?! mad that happens at my school too.... It's just totally crazy man! I had the same problem in middle school. A lot of the trumpet players were idiots (not all, some were cool). It seems like everyone is a lot less immature and, once again, idiotic in high school. While the trumpets still are their crazy selves, a majority of the really stupid ones have left because they don't want to continue band. Maybe it's just my band. I dunno.

Well I'm part time trumpet, part time horn so I know first hand how trumpeters can be and I'll tell you some of them really get away with a lot more than they probably should... plus our section leader's sorta obnoxious....

FncyFngers308D French Horn is the Best! The only thing I hate is if I play for a long time, then the high notes don't come out... thats everyone though. You'll build up the endurance the more you practice

Kentarvos im starting french horn at the end of spring break, any pointers? lots of mouth piece buzzing. buzz a song everyday. Something simple like row row row your boat, or whatever song you have stuck in your head. When you buzz it make it sound like how you'd sing it (like no awkward spaces between the notes... ect... the better your buzz is on the mouth piece the better your sound will be on the horn, and the easier it will be to play. Try and buzz 5 minutes every day before you play

asajj ventre Ok i have a small (if hard to answer) question, does anyone know how to get there paws on cheap (or even better, free) horn sheet music? like that can be downloaded or something? Iv gotten rusty over the summer and would like a challenge to get myself warmed up on. www.imslp.org free sheet music organized by composer. It has full orchestra scores, individual parts and concertos. If you don't mind searching a little bit, endless resources. You'll never have to buy another mozart concerto again! Only thing they don't have on there is Strauss 2. Its not open to public domain yet, which really gets me mad cause I <3 strauss 2
