MISSION- New Shadow on the Horizon
An evil Gym Leader has taken over Rustboro. Your mission is to go and beat the goons and the leader. (You will face 3 goons and the leader)

I was watching the news when a report about the Rustboro Gym came on.

An urgent plea for help has come from the citizens of Rustboro City, who claim that an evil Gym Leader has taken over their Gym. The Gym Leader has been overthrown and came straight to us with this plea, begging us to broadcast it worldwide. Trainers, if you are watching this, please help Rustboro City!

I turned the TV off and sent out Charizard, then hopped on and told it to fly to Rustboro. He took off, and I started to gather my thoughts.

An evil Gym Leader? Must be some new team we haven’t heard of yet. Well, hopefully I can get there before too much damage is done. I thought. When I landed at Rustboro, I returned Charizard and went straight to the Gym. I saw another trainer being hurled out of it. He landed on the ground and swore loudly. Right after that he got up and dusted himself off, walking over to me.

“You after them too?” he asked me. Without waiting for a reply, he said, “You must be. Otherwise you wouldn’t be heading this way.” He leaned close to my ear and whispered, “Be careful in there. They’re extremely strong. I got beaten without putting up much of a fight, and I’m strong compared to most trainers. So, a word of caution. Watch out for their tricks. They may look weak, but once you start the fight, you could find yourself in a hole too steep to get out of.”

He walked away right after that, looking disgusted with himself. I silently pleaded that they weren’t too strong. After all, I only had a few fully-evolved Pokémon. I walked into the Gym and was immediately confronted by a person.

“You dare to challenge us? Fool. Your Pokémon will be defeated right in front of your eyes!” he said. I calmly replied, “You really think so, do you?” He answered, “What, you think you can beat us?” I pulled a Pokéball from my belt and threw it. Metang appeared, ready to battle.

The Shadow trainer sent out a Nidoking, telling it to use Ice Beam. It fired out a column of ice, which was easily dodged by Metang. “Metang, use Meteor Mash!” I said. Metang’s fists grew bright, then it smacked Nidoking. “Use Thunderbolt!” my opponent said. Nidoking let out a bolt of electricity from its horn, trying to defeat Metang in one hit.

The attack hit Metang, and he went crashing backwards. He zoomed out of the dust with a fire in his eyes, like none I’d seen before. I pulled a Super Potion from my pocket, then gave it to Metang. Metang was healed, but not all of its health had returned. “Psychic!” I told Metang. He levitated Nidoking, who looked around in confusion, then slammed it to the ground. Nidoking slowly got up, even for a being of its size and weight.

“Nidoking, use Megahorn!” the man said. Nidoking tried to butt Metang with its horns, but didn’t do much against Metang’s hard armor. “Hyper Beam!” I said. Metang let out a beam of dark energy which hit Nidoking and made it faint. “Return.” the man said. “Nidoqueen, come on out!”

Nidoking disappeared in a flash of red light, only to be replaced by Nidoqueen. “Ice Beam!” the man said. Nidoqueen let out a jet of ice that hit Metang and KOed it. “Metang, return.” I said. Metang disappeared, and I pulled another Pokéball from my belt. “Grovyle, let’s go!” Grovyle appeared, ready to fight.

“Slam!” I said. Grovyle rammed into Nidoqueen, but it didn’t budge. “Hyper Beam!” the man told Nidoqueen. Nidoqueen prepared for a powerful attack, but Grovyle was able to dodge. “Leaf Blade!” I told Grovyle. Grovyle leaped in to attack, then struck with a critical hit.

“Nidoqueen, take this Super Potion!” my opponent said, then gave Nidoqueen the Super Potion. “Iron Tail!” I yelled. Grovyle turned to whack Nidoqueen, and hit with a powerful attack. “Nidoqueen, use Shadow Ball!” the man said. A ball of dark energy formed in Nidoqueen’s hands, and it released it at Grovyle. The attack hit, but Grovyle got up.

“Finish it with Solarbeam!” I hollered. Grovyle prepared to attack, needing to charge Solarbeam. “Nidoqueen, Body Slam!” the man said. Nidoqueen slammed into Grovyle, making it weaker. “Attack!” I told Grovyle. Grovyle glowed with a green energy, then released it and stopped glowing. The attack hit Nidoqueen and it fainted. The man returned Nidoqueen and stared at me, then walked out of the Gym.

I walked on to the next person, wondering what Pokémon they had. He sent out a Haunter, telling it to use Destiny Bond. The destiny of Grovyle depended on the destiny of Haunter, but I didn’t expect Grovyle to last long. “Use Aerial Ace!” I said. Grovyle darted towards Haunter, hitting it hard.

“Haunter, use Psychic!” the person said. Haunter levitated Grovyle and slammed it into the ground, then did it again. Grovyle fainted, and Haunter was satisfied. “Grovyle, return. You fought well.” I said. I returned Grovyle, then threw another Pokéball. Ivysaur appeared. ready to defeat Haunter.

“Sleep Powder!” I said. A silvery powder emitted from Ivysaur’s back, causing Haunter to fall asleep. “Haunter, wake up!” my opponent said. Haunter would not wake however, and his efforts were fruitless. “Ivysaur, use Vine Whip!” I said. Vines extended from Ivysaur, whacking the sleeping Haunter. The trainer continued to call out in vain, but could do nothing.

“Finish it with Razor Leaf!” I said. Leaves flew towards Haunter, KOing it. He returned Haunter and sent out Flaaffy, telling it to use Thunder. The attack hit, but didn’t do much damage. “Ivysaur, use Poisonpowder!” I said. Ivysaur emitted more powder, but this time it was purple. Flaaffy was poisoned, but not very badly.

“Thunderbolt!” the trainer said. Flaaffy used another electric attack, but it couldn’t do much damage with the weakness. “Ivysaur, use Giga Drain!” I said. Ivysaur did some damage, stealing half of it and returning it to its own. Flaaffy was hurt by the poison, becoming weaker ands weaker with each passing moment.

“Focus Punch!” my opponent said. Flaaffy punched Ivysaur with a powerful, glowing fist, and did a good amount of damage. “Ivysaur, finish Flaaffy with Strength!” I said. Ivysaur began to relax, but all the while making its power stronger. It finally slammed Flaaffy, defeating it.

“Flaaffy, return.” the man said. Flaaffy disappeared in a flash of red light. “Noctowl, come on out!” He threw a Pokéball and Noctowl appeared. “Take Down!” Noctowl rammed into Ivysaur, KOing it, but taking recoil. “Ivysaur, return. Larvitar, come on out!” I yelled. Ivysaur disappeared and Larvitar took its place.

“Crunch!” I said. Larvitar bit down hard on Noctowl’s wings but couldn’t ground it. “Psychic!” the man said. Noctowl focused on confusing Larvitar, but couldn’t and only did damage. “Rock Slide!” I told Larvitar, knowing about Noctowl’s weakness to rock. The attack did a ton of damage to Noctowl, and I knew it wouldn’t survive the next turn.

“Hyper Beam!” my opponent said. Noctowl used the last of its energy attacking, and couldn’t defend any longer. “Finish him with Crunch!” I said. Larvitar bit Noctowl on the leg, dragging the two to the ground, then let go and bit its wings, defeating it. The man returned Noctowl and shook his head, then walked out of the Gym.

I walked up to the third person, the only woman in the group, but who was already prepared to battle after the earthquake. She sent out a Togetic, and I called Larvitar to my side. “Double-Edge!” she said. Togetic tackled Larvitar but didn’t do much damage, taking damage itself.

“Rock Slide!” I said. Rocks poured from the sky onto Togetic, doing a ton of damage. “Magical Leaf!” she said. Leaves flew from Togetic and hit Larvitar, doing a ton of damage. “Hyper Beam!” I said. Larvitar emitted a beam of dark energy, doing a lot of damage.

“Togetic, use Ancientpower!” she said. The attack didn’t do much to Larvitar, but did raise Togetic’s stats. “Recharge!” I said. Larvitar prepared to recharge after using Hyper Beam. “Water Pulse!” she screamed at Togetic, who obeyed. The attack defeated Larvitar, and I returned it.

“Numel, come on out!” I said, throwing its Pokéball. Numel appeared, snorting and tossing its head. “Flamethrower!” A jet of flame came from Numel’s mouth, hitting Togetic and making it faint. My opponent sent out a Sandslash, telling it to use Sand Tomb. The attack did a ton, but Numel was fresh from the bench.

“Numel, use Earthquake!” I said. Numel shook the ground and I had to grab a pole a second time, but so did my opponent. “Hyper Beam!” she said. A dark beam of energy came from Sandslash’s mouth hitting Numel and doing a lot of damage. “Numel, use Overheat!” I said. Numel sent a powerful jet of flame towards Sandslash, but weakening it for next turn.

“Sandslash, recharge!” my opponent said. Sandslash restored its energy after Hyper Beam, as it was weak. Numel attacked with Overheat again, defeating Sandslash. “Sandslash, return.” my opponent said. “Ledian, its your turn!” Sandslash disappeared but was replaced by Ledian. I gave Numel my second Super Potion, knowing I’d need the last one, then gave Metang a Revive.

"Ledian, use Double-Edge!" she said. Ledian darted forward and hit Numel, taking recoil from the attack. "Numel, use Fire Blast!" I said. The attack was devastating, doing a ton of damage to Ledian and even more because of the Fire attack against a Bug type. My opponent gave Ledian a Max Potion, healing it fully. I told Numel to attack again with Fire Blast, giving the same effect as last time.

"Ledian, Solarbeam!" she said, and Ledian prepared for the attack. “Numel, Double Team!” I said. Suddenly there were Numel all over, but Ledian knew which one was the real one. It attacked Numel with Solarbeam, but did normal damage because of the strength to Ground but the weakness to Fire. The Numel disappeared, but the real one had taken damage.

"Numel, finish Ledian with Flamethrower!" I said. A jet of flame came from Numel's mouth and hit Ledian, KOing it. The lady returned Ledian and turned to the leader of the group. He nodded, and she left the Gym.

"So, you have made it this far, young traveler." he said in a cold, high-pithced voice. "But you will never defeat us! I am the Lord of Darkness, the master of this group!" I replied, "I've made it this far, and I plan to defeat you. And soon, you'll be the master of losing."

That angered the Lord of Darkness, and he sent out Marshtomp. "Muddy Water!" he said. The attack swept up Numel and almost defeated it, but it was able to stay alive. "Use Earthquake!" I said. Numel shook the ground, the third time it had been done in less than an hour. The attack did some damage to Marshtomp, but not enough. "Finish it with Water Pulse!" the Lord of Darkness said. The attack hit Numel and KOed it. I returned Numel to its Pokéball, then sent out Metang again.

"Psychic!" I said. Metang confused Marshtomp, forcing it to slap itself to get out of confusion. "Marshtomp, snap out of it!" the Lord of Darkness said. Marshtomp couldn't, hurting itself more and more. "Metang, use Hidden Power!" I said. Metang released an unkown energy and hit Marshtomp, KOing it. "Combusken, come on out!" the Lord of Darkness said. Combusken appeared, prepared to try to defeat me.

"Flamethrower!" the Lord of Darkness told Combusken, and it obeyed. The attack did a lot of damage to Metang, who wasn't at full health. It survived, though, willing to fight on. "Metang, use Hyper Beam!" I said, knowing it would be his last attack. The attack hit and did a ton of damage, but Metang was very weak now. "Combusken, finish it with Overheat!" the Lord of Darkness said. The attack hit, and Metang fainted.

"Metang, return." I said. Metang disappeared, and I returned his Pokéball to my belt. I pulled another and sent out Wailmer. "Wailmer, use Surf!" I said. Wailmer filled the Gym with water, defeating Combusken. The Lord of Darkness returned Combusken, then sent out Grovyle. "Mega Drain!" he said. Grovyle stole a good amount of Wailmer's energy, but had nowhere to put it.

"Wailmer, use Strength!" I said. Wailmer rammed into Grovyle and did a lot of damage. "Grovyle, use Leaf Blade!" the Lord of Darkness said. Grovyle did a ton of damage, almost KOing Wailmer. "Wailmer, Rollout!" I yelled. Wailmer rolled towards Grovyle, sending it flying on impact. It doubled around for another attack, but was immediately hit by Bullet Seed. The attack KOed Wailmer, and I returned it.

I sent out Charizard, telling it to use Wing Attack. It flew in the air and swooped down on Grovyle, almost defeating it. "Grovyle, use Quick Attack!" the Lord of Darkness said. Grovyle darted towards Charizard, then jumped back. "Charizard, finish Grovyle with Flamethrower!" I said. Charizard released a jet of flame and did a ton of damage to Grovyle, KOing it. The Lord of Darkness returned it and sent out Shelgon, its final Pokémon.

"Shelgon, use Crunch!" the Lord of Darkness said. Shelgon bit down viciously on Charizard's wing, forcing it to roar in pain. "Charizard, use Dig!" I said. Charizard dug underground, forcing Shelgon off. It came up moments later, right under Shelgon. "Shelgon, Rock Smash!" my opponent said. Rocks poured down onto Charizard, doing little damage. "Charizard, Dragonbreath!" I said. Charizard attacked and did a lot of damage, almost KOing Shelgon.

"Shelgon, Headbutt!" the Lord of Darkness said. Shelgon rammed Charizard with its head, but it wasn't enough. "Charizard, finish this with Dragon Rage!" I yelled. Charizard thrashed around wildly, hitting Shelgon as it went. Shelgon fainted, and I won.

The Lord of Darkness shook his head in disgust. He stared at me and started speaking in his cold, high-pitched voice. "You have beaten us this time, but we will meet again!" As proof of my victory, he gave me the Shadow Stone Badge. I took it. "Take it. You defeated us, and deserve it. But we will return stronger than ever!" he said. He disappeared when I blinked, and a few minutes later the former Gym Leader came in.

"Thank you!" he said. "You defeated them, and now Rustboro will return to peace!" I waved away his thanks, then walked outside and flew away on Charizard.

Walks out of room.
Morning.

Turns around and sees Miko.
Hey. What are you doing?
TADS starts to beep.
Wait. Never mind. I have to go.
