I see where you're coming from, but in all fairness everyone's character has traits from at least a few other characters. It's unavoidable =/
With the small zan, it just popped into my head that it would fit his abilities and the "truth" title, since the eyes are the window to the soul, a monocle is sorta symbolic of that. His powers being the same, the "truth" of Soul Society/Hueco Mundo and everything within it is reishi - the foundation of it all.
I mean, I can BS some other raw reishi ability to use with hand-to-hand combat, it's just shunkou is the logical conclusion. He can basically only increase his speed/power though, he can't do cool stuff with it like cancel kidou or anything else.
@Lee: Shunkou isn't Kidou to begin with actually. Shunkou is the result of pushing your reiryoku into your extremities, causing an immense increase in physical abilities (speed and power). It's really hard to control, however, as Yoruichi says, which is why reiryoku bleeds out of her arms and legs. It's not really covered, but apparently you can also use this "bleeding" reiatsu and concentrate it to cancel other shunkou attacks/kidou like Yoruichi does to Soi Fon.
(Yoruichi explains in pretty good detail how Shunkou works during her fight with Soi Fon. They mistakenly say it's based on kidou, but they never actually mention kidou at all when describing it's activation and effects, describing instead the use of reiryoku to activate it.)
(Also the argument can be made that the only reason Arrancar don't use Kidou is because they never learned it. They have all the traits a Shinigami does, there's nothing "special" about a Shinigami that allows them to concentrate and mold reiryoku into Kidou, Arrancar actually do the exact same thing with Bala/Cero.)

Doombringer attack radius = 100 yards = 300 feet = 600 feet in diameter
Nanashi Bankai Raidus = 430 feet in diameter
Which leaves a discrepancy of 170 feet where the rain is still pain.
Somebody technically took some bala to the face. I'm just sayin. rofl

I always thought reishi was the foundation for everything, but you may be right, reiryoku might be energy, while reishi is matter. Draevk's power could really be either, could care less which x_x Both make sense with his char. Most of the definitions for bleach stuff is so inconsistent, if you actually look on the bleach wiki it says kidou is simply the process of focusing your reiryoku to do something other than your zanpakutou abilities. Garganta is apparently kidou as well. I stand corrected, kidou is a much broader term than I initially had read =S So apparently Arrancar can use kidou.
