Chest heaving, Adamantine had barely enough senses to step back and avoid the flood of water that rushed by them. Kasiya stared in awe - Althena had become quite the powerhouse since she'd last saw her. "Amazing, Keegan! Althena's amazing!"

"Not quite," Maude said smugly, even though her partner's Raichu lay defeated nearby, feeling as though he'd just been keelhauled. Smoochykins, on the other hand, had closed his eyes, a small torrent of water seemed to be flowing around his body. "Smoochykins here has the amazing ability to absorb water, making your cute little ducky useless!" She started laughing then, a nasty, very nasally sound. Kasiya rolled her eyes, watching as Ada tried to lunge for the big blue opponent, but tripped on her own feet and landed in a small puddle, her body seizing up with paralysis. "Poor baby," she sighed, shaking her head. "Come back for now. Don't want you being confused after all that Thrashing." Smiling, the girl glanced over at the fountain, and nodded. "Ariel, let's go, girl!"

The third Pokemon to leave the fountain (although now significantly drained of its waters) leapt out rather gracefully, and she bowed her head, glancing over at Althena and nodding - she always felt a certain kinship towards other Water-type Pokemon. Once Henry had sent out his next Pokemon, Kasiya looked towards the Quagsire and grinned. Water may have been useless against it, but ice certainly would suffice in this case. "Ice Beam!" Kasiya said, pointing at the large Water Fish. The Vaporeon shook her head, and opened her mouth, a slight, frosty vapor escaping for a split second until a powerful, icy ray was blasted forward, frigid crystals forming in its wake as it headed towards Smoochykins.

Kilik rolled his eyes at the antics of his Elekid, but didn't bother to recall him. He walked over to Rena and hopped onto the rock, sitting next to her. He looked out into the water, squinting as the sun reflected off the waves. Elekid crawled from Kilik's head and wandered over to Rena, sitting on her stomach. He tapped her nose a few times with his tiny claw and smiled. Kilik smiled warmly as well and then moved his hand along the front of his jacket. His PokeNav resided in his breast pocket and be pulled it out, spinning the small strap along his finger. "I'm going to give someone a call, Rena," he whispered to her, "Watch Elekid."

"All right, Kilik. Everything okay?" she asked, sitting up and wrapping her arms around Elekid, keeping him still in her lap. Slender fingers pet the top of his head, sliding between the two plugs. She felt the Pokemon squirm a bit, getting comfortable.

He nodded once. "Should be," he whispered, turning his head away from her. He jumped from the rock, landing in the sand. Kilik stared at the Nav, walking almost to the other end of the fairly small beach, standing and leaning against the rock that Elekid's Thundershock had bounced off of. He scanned through the names, pausing at each one and thinking. Kasiya... he thought with a smile, Congrats on your badge. He clicked over the next few names. "There she is," he said, clicking on Mary-Anne (M.A.) and pressing 'talk'. "Hopefully she'll answer this time..." he whispered, glancing over at Rena and Elekid.

And both Pokemon fell. Anna, however, received a lesser amount of damage due to the fact that Metagross' type didn't match his attack type; the reverse held true for when the ghost had attacked.

Metagross was able to recover as well. Shakily it stood, pounding all four of its feet on the ground. After doing so, though, it bent its hind legs upward and stretched its front legs to either side, and floated, like it was able to do when it was a Metang. Regardless of whatever commands its trainer was currently issuing, Metagross had an idea of its own. He was truly angry, and hovered forward, slowly at first, but then it whirred forward with ease. Metagross' left arm began to spark and glow with a dark yellow color, before becoming completely overtaken by electricity. Its other arm, however, glowed a soft blue, before being overtaken by ice; when it was close enough, it slammed its icy arm into Krystal, and its electrical one into Anna. Both Pokemon were harmed, but clearly Krystal was hurting more than her partner was, due to her weakness to Ice-type attacks; she lie on the ground in pain, closing her eyes. While she wasn't knocked out, even a weak Tackle would be enough to take her out.

"Agh, you... jerk!" Anna yelled, chasing after her opponent, firing a Shadow Ball. It missed, however, but the ghost wasn't about to give up. She exerted her energy into firing at least a dozen more attacks; while most of them missed, the last two struck the Metagross, one in the right arm, and the other in the back. Finally feeling the strains of battle, Metagross crashed onto the ground, creating a large divot where it landed, while a battered and bruised Anna returned to Krystal. She performed a Pain Split to help heal her, even if it was in the slightest amount.

Nina started walking towards the boy who had started this whole battle in the first place. Her arms were crossed, and it was obvious that, despite the fact she won, she was irritated.

"So. I believe you owe me an apology. RIGHT now."

"Good job, Stryker," Henry grinned, recalling the practically drowned rat. He eyed the pair of water Pokemon in front of him for a moment, and smiled. "Let's make this interesting, go Maggie!" The older man tossed out his remaining Poke Ball, revealing a four-legged, green Pokemon.

"Venusaur...?" Keegan mused. "No, Meganium..." he trailed off, glancing to Kasiya. "This is what Rosemary will evolve into someday," he told his friend fondly, nodding to the Herb Pokemon. Large, pink petals were blooming from around its neck, having come from the growing buds of its previous forms, Bayleef and Chikorita. A lovely scent wafted out from it, seemingly causing Althena to temporarily loose her focus. Shaking her head, the Psyduck blinked, glaring at the Quagsire, who'd absorbed her attack. "Althena's hardly useless," he growled, glancing at Kasiya as she summoned Ariel to the battlefield. "Add to that, Althena! Use your own Ice Beam!"

Althena raised both arms once more, focusing her gaze on the Quagsire. Seconds after Ariel's icy blast struck home, Althena's did the same, striking the same spot the first attack had hit.

"We'll have no more of that," Henry told Keegan and Kasiya, waggling a finger at them (Keegan was horribly reminded of the time Bahamut had nearly bitten off his finger when he did that). "Maggie! Let's stop all this water. Sunny Day!" The ground shaking under her steps, the Meganium looked at them all, the two antennae atop her head quivering. The petals around her neck began to shimmer, and seconds later, the sun shone down on them even brighter than before, which would render any ice attacks unable to inflict their freezing status.

Keegan was silently fuming. If Helios had still been with him, that Sunny Day would have been Henry's downfall.

This time, Mary-Anne heard her PokeNav vibrating obnoxiously in the PokeCenter's cafeteria not far away, just before it began to ring. She hurriedly slid over to it, however, as to not let it disturb the other trainers having breakfast for much longer, not before giving Ky a quick, apologetic "Wait-a-minute" look.

Rummaging through her disorganized bag for a moment, she found the little orange device after spilling quite a deal of its contents on the table. You'd be surprised how much she had in that not-that-large pack of hers.

Flipping it open, she glanced at the monotone screen for a moment, seeing a name flash. Kilik. Rising an eyebrow and deciding not to think about it too much, she pressed the "accept call" button and lifted it to her ear. "Hello?"

She admittedly /had/ been somewhat upset that he'd left without a word earlier, but now, it didn't seem like that big of a deal anymore, not after all that had occured this morning. The fatigue she felt fifteen minutes ago was still present in her voice, though it had lifted considerably.

Kilik paced around the rock a few times before he heard the other line click. "Oh!" he said slightly surprised. Part of him had expected her not to answer. He clenched and relaxed his fist a few times before he continued speaking.

"I can completely understand if you're upset with me, Mary-Anne," he explained, glancing over at Rena and Elekid, "You can hang up now if you want, but I really think you deserve an explaination of the way I acted last night." He slipped his hand into his pocket, holding the PokeNav against his ear casually. Shockingly enough, he felt a bit nervous...but why? It was a story he's told many times before, wasn't it? Why would it be any different telling her? He paused a minute before sighing. "So, if you'd like to listen, stay on the line. If not, go on and hang up." The boy stared at his feet, which started to draw small shapes in the sand.

Rena bounced Elekid on her knee with a smile, looking over at Kilik once in a while. Each time she did, her smile faded. He looked so down, so upset. Whenever Elekid reached an arm and patted her on the cheek, she knew it was time to stop looking at Kilik and pay attention to the baby. She lifted him up and threw him into the air, catching him. Elekid let out a playful laugh, clapping his hands together when she caught him. He was really enjoying himself.

Smoochykins took both attacks to the center of its chest, a fact that enraged it. At Maude's command, the blue Water Fish charged towards Ariel, spinning on a foot and trying to come around and land a fierce Slam on the Vaporeon. Deciding to go on the defensive, Ariel jumped back, ducking low to the ground and feeling the wind rustle by her head as the attack only just missed. Getting to her feet, the Vaporeon backtracked, looking over at the Meganium and frowning.

We'll be able to vanquish this blistering sun, but first we've got to take out that Quagsire, Kasiya thought, yanking her bandanna from her head and fanning herself with it. It's so hot! The girl bit her bottom lip, and studied the Quagsire. She was certain that Ariel could outrun it, but she also had a sinking suspicion that the opposing Meganium knew Solarbeam. Not wanting to chance being hit, Ariel turned to her grassy opponent, and acted on her own accord by slashing the ground with her tail and kicking up a blast of muck and grass, spraying a good lot of it in the Meganium's face.

M.A. listened to all this silently, taking it in. Yes, she did want to know. . . That Kilik from yesterday had bewildered her some, and this Kilik who was speaking to her now and had met her in the forrest was so different. "No, no, please go on," she said slowly and quietly, feeling this heaviness in his voice that almost made her want to hug him, strangely -- she might've wanted to berate the fella a hour or two ago, but that had been impulsive anger.

Kilik sighed, shaking his bangs out of his eyes. "Okay, sit back, then. It's a long one." He climbed up the rock, sitting on the top. His feet dangled over the side and his free hand rested on the cold stone. "A while back, after I had collected my Rainbow badge, I had infiltrated a hide out that belong to Team Rocket."

A very faint sneeze was heard and he looked in the direction of Rena, who he saw wiping her nose. "The leader, Giovanni, took me in like a son almost immediately," he continued telling her. His voice was heavy and it was like he now hated telling this story. Then again, he always did hate telling it. It was only this time that he really noticed how much he did. He decided to skip the juicy part of the story: murdering the Silph Co. president.

"I then quit Team Rocket, only to be attacked almost a week later and brain washed into joining again," his fist clenched around his knee, "After I managed to fight off the brain washing, I despised everything and anyone that was involved with Team Rocket. That's why when I was battling Dramon, you saw the me that was nothing but pure hate."

"Questions?" he laughed slightly, then sighed heavily once more.

She did as he suggested, plopping onto the cafeteria table's chair as she hadn't exactly pushed it back in before chasing after Crenu.

There was silence once again on her side of the line. It was taking her time to digest all of this, what with barely knowing Team Rocket and what not. Besides, it all sounded really rough and . . . rough. Must've been hard for him, she thought, hearing his sigh. "No. . . Nada," she said at last. "But I'm sorry. For having you speak of all that, even if you might not have wanted to. And please. . . don't be sad?" Childish? Maybe. But M.A. really didn't want him to feel so down; it made her feel the same.

"No, no. You deserved an explaination of my horrible behavior..." he whispered, "even if I didn't want to talk about it." Kilik hopped off the rock. "Sorry to cut our conversation short," he said, placing his fingers on the stone again, "but I've got to get going. And Mary-Anne?" he pressed his knuckles against the rock and bit his lower lip, "It's not too late for you, and I can't take my own advice, but listen up. Never stop smiling, no matter what the circumstances. Everything will turn out better. Understand?" He began to walk towards Rena, slipping his free hand into his pocket.

Rena and Elekid both kept quiet as Kilik made his way over to them. She continued holding Elekid around his waist, making sure he didn't scamper off. "Stay still!" she whispered at the Pokemon, who was squirming and making little noises to get to Kilik.

She was genuinely surprised at that last part, but what followed was an inexplicably nice, warm feeling of comfort. "Right-o," she said, feeling herself smile slowly automatically, without any conscious command from herself. How did he know that that was a little bit of what she needed? "But it does go for you, too. The past isn't who you are. . ." Not entirely, at least. She couldn't say why, but she really hoped Kilik would be able to smile freely as well. It couldn't be too late, whatever he had meant; maybe she didn't really understand at all.

"Well. . . hope to see you around," she added, standing up again and feeling better about the world in general. That mystery was down. Kilik wasn't a blood-thirsty pillager, plunderer, murderer after all (at least as far as she knew, and that was as far as she wanted to know). "Oh yeah. M.A. Slowly now, Emmmm-ayy. Not Mary-Anne. I feel a bit like a nun with the latter." A wider grin. You know how you can tell another person is smiling when they pick up the phone? Same thing here.

A light smile appeared on his lips - a genuine smile. Not the sadistic smile that he had when he battled or the crazed smile that he wore when he was outsmarting a Rocket. "Okay, Emmmm-ayy," he taunted her, leaning against the stone that Rena was sitting on, "We should battle someday. It'd be interesting." He pulled the Nav away from his ear, "See you eventually," he spoke loud enough for her to hear, then pressed 'End'. The amount of time they talked blinked on the screen a few times before it faded. He turned to Rena and looked up at her. "Now what?" he asked.

"I don't know but--" she groaned, picking Elekid up and handing him to Kilik. "He's like a little kid!" she laughed, "Always squirming." Elekid climbed onto Kilik's head, situating himself in the boy's hair.

"Let's ponder, then, Rena. Where we should go next, that is."

Unfortunatly for Dante the Tri Attack made it out just before Apollo could hit it to knock out its aim. The tri beams hit Bahamut head on, even though the electric one didn't do any damage the fire and ice ones were more then enough to do the trick. With a screech Bahamut feel defeated to the ground. Frowning somewhat Dante recalled his fainted pokemon and placed the ball back into his bag. Apollo who's attack had landed only a second later staggered back injured from the recoil damage that he had recieved. The Porygon didn't seem to fair much better, any healed damage that he had recieved was gone and then some.

"Porygon use Recover again!" The nerd ordered from his side. Immediatly the Porygon began to glow agian.

"Oh no you dont, Apollo use Stomp!" With Trace coping Apollo's Flash Fire Apollo's moves were cut down by a lot. All ready close to the Porygon Apollo reared up and smashed his hooves down on top of the normal type pokemon.

Screaching the Porygon fell back some unable to continue its Recover. "Porygon Conversion 2!" Once again the Porygon started to glow only this time its surface became almost ghostly transparent. "All right you can't hit him now."

Blinking Dante stared at the Porygon. "No way. That did not just do what I think it just did."

"I see you are impressed. Conversion 2 changes Porygon's type to whatever it is resistant to on that last attack. Stomp is a normal type and so it changed it to ghost. And if I am not mistaken Rapidash's only learn fire and normal type moves. In essence you loose."

"I have got to get me one of those." Dante said staring at the Porygon who was floating his head still spinning round and round. When he heard the last statement he turned to look at Apollo and sighed, any of his fire type moves would only heal the Porygon, and all of his normal type moves didn't work. Sighing Dante waved his hand in defeat. "Yeah sure." He said unhappily. He did not take loosing to this guy very well.

"Oh... it's so peaceful here. Maybe I'll take a little nap..." Leila was beginning to faint under the intense heat of the sun, her eyelids trying their hardest to stay open. Alas, she just didn't have the energy, and with all the books she had packed, she'd made no room for water, and her throat was getting parched. Sitting back against the tree, she began to fall asleep, her weary body relaxing as she fell into a deep slumber. Suddenly, there was a loud ringing, startling her awake, and she dragged herself over to her bag, the source of the ringing inside it. Feeling around within, she grinned as she grabbed hold of her cell phone, flicking it open and putting it to her ear. "Hello? Oh, Oak wants me?" Looking down at her watch, she realised she was almost two hours late, and rushed to her feet. "Er, tell him I'll be right there!" Shutting her cell phone, she picked up all of her belongings, and thrust them into her pack, unaware that a curious Bulbasaur had gone inside it.

----------------------------------------------------------

Running down the lane, she made her way to the town, skidding into the Pokemon lab which stood before her. Holding her side as she drew breath, she stumbled over to the Professor, smiling as she waved to her uncle by his side. "So.. What do I get?" Her uncle exchanged nervous glances with Oak, busying himself as he let the professor tell her the news. "I’m sorry Leila, but you're too late. All the pokemon I had are gone." Mouth hung open in disbelief, tears began forming at the sides of her eyes. "No... that's not... no..." Dropping her bag to the floor, she jumped back in surprise as a strange cry came from inside it. Kneeling down carefully, she opened her pack, screaming as a green blur leapt out, bowling her onto her back. "Ahh! Get it off!" Chuckling, he picked it up in his hands, stroking its head as he held out a hand to the girl. "It's okay, it must've crawled into your bag while you weren't looking."

Opening her eyes cautiously, she breathed a sigh of relief, getting steadily to her feet as she took his hand. Taking it happily from his hands, she cradled the small pokemon in her arms, giggling heartily as she watched it nuzzle itself into her chest. "I'll tell you what." Staring up at Oak, she couldn't hold in her joy, knowing full well what he was about to suggest. "You mean it? I can keep it?" Nodding, he held out a pokemon belt, as well as a pouch of pokeballs for her to use. "I don't have to tell you what you use these for, I'm sure you're fully capable of using them yourself. Good luck, Leila." With a wide grin spread across her face, she skipped out of the lab, almost dancing as she came out into the sunshine. "Me and you are gunna get along great, I can already tell."

The Bulbasaur chirped in agreement, bouncing up and down in her arms in excitement. "Bulba!"
