Reddemon Volsterns are the hand of the Adeptus Mechanius That's VOSTROYANS. And just because they swear fealthy to the AM doesn't make them tech-guard or Skitarii.

"Thanks to the inhospitable climate of Vostroya, the Firstborn are trained in the most adverse conditions. Amidst the jutting skeletal spars of half-collapsed warehouses, the Firstborn learn the skills of close-quarter combat and strict firing drills."
Their rules will be printed in WD 317 (UK). Makes me wonder if they use doctrines or a custom set of rules.

Maybe new doctrines, such as how CA introduced "Swamp Fighter" doctrines. Those were effing neat and useful, when in swamps of course.
I hope that the new supplement book has the option for Guard squads to split up again, as that was something really needed in city fighting.

I raised the question to my local outriders and came up with this result to my AC allies question Watcher_in_the_dark Yes, you just need to fill your compulsory HQ and troops from the AC list. Lokust The witch hunters codex says on page 25 that witch hunters can be taken as allies for "Imperial Guard and its varients, such as Catachan Jungle Fighters and Armageddon Steel Legion." So I think that is pretty clear that they can fit in with ANY guard varient. When commenting that i would show you these i was thus instructed BasementCrusader Yea, while your at it, smack 'em upside the head with the book just for good measure. wink Chedda

Hello Guard players! Now that both my Necron and Deamon Hunters armies are finished, I have strongly been considering collecting an Imperial Guard army.
I truly love everything that the Guard stands for. Regular humans, not an army of genetically superior supermen fighting for their homes, their friends, their families, I love it all. Not too mention all the very nice tanks.
So, I was considering collecting an armour heavy Guard force. With this, I turn to the experienced Guardsmen of the guild hoping for advice. Have armour heavy armies worked for you guys and gals? What kinds of tactics do you find normally work best? What's the biggest drawback/weakness to having a great deal of armour? Anything you guys can tell me will be very much appreciated.

Though I dont play gaurd, why not take a Armoured Company? Durable, nasty, and this way you dont have to tool out one tank. Give like a max of 4 upgrades to each tank for your troops, 5 to a elite, fast attack, and heavy support(if you take those) and 6+ for your HQ

If it weren;t for the Demolisher I'd say somebody was compensating for something with all those big tank cannons.

Trully, the Leman Russ is the emperors finest gift to the IG. Ive got 6 of em in my armoured company, I love the exterminator variant tough. It sounds cool, it looks cool, and it splatters nids nicely. smile
I found 2 friends of mine collecting nids, and thus it happens that I find myself nearly every friday crushing nids underneath tons of mechanicus blessed cold steel! God I love the feeling of them standing in a line, splattering big uns with battle cannons, mowing down smaller ones with sponson/hull mounted death!
Emperor, I thank thee for Armoured companies!

Its a set of rules published by GW that allows us treadheads to feild nothing but tanks
they can be found on the UK GW site under the Guard section but not on the U.S. one
