If I didn't do Nurgle, I would do Word Bearers. I love their fluff and colour scheme, personally.
I dislike Iron Warriors though.

For me, the color scheme is the weakest aspect, actually. Not big on red marines, and all the official examples look like utter crap - like someone slopped on two colors and called it good.
I'm adapting the style of the Angels Vermillion in the '06 Catalog for them. Y'know, whenever I actually get to do them.
The whole idea is second in line behind my WM:Hordes Trollbloods. twisted

I don't know where to start on your incorrectness.
1. There was no Pre-Heresy Nurgle. There was a Death Guard but they didn't turn to Nurgle until Typhon dragged them through a Warp Storm or something.
2. Of course you would take no daemons or daemonesque stuff. It's Pre-Heresy.
3a. Chaos Runes and Daemonic Flight are Daemonic, so I doubt they'd use those.
3b. Adamantine Cloak, maybe, but they're not a Chaos thing. Sorry mate.
4. Mortarion taught his troops the strength of using a bolter and brute strength, so they did not use Assault troops, and currently do not use Raptors. they don't even use that many vehicles.
5. If you were doing a Pre-Heresy Space Marines army, would it not make just a little bit more sense to use a Space Marine Codex? Y'know, seeing how the Chaos Codex is like 100% Daemons and Daemonic Abilities and Post-Heresy stuff. So doing a Pre-Heresy Army would just be...stupid?

I agree with you completely except for one statement.
A chaos codex can be used for pre heresy armies. It just depends what aspects you want to show. Doing the death gaurd you could use a marine codex and take trust your battle brothers and purity above all. there they are.
Or if you want to show there freaking numbers use full 20 marine squads from the chaos codex. Personally though i do thing for DG the marine codex is better.
However for maybe pre heresy Thousand sons Id say chaos codex. World eaters marine codex. Actually nwo that i think about it, most of them would be better in the marine codex, but either way, it can be done with the chaos codex.

Then you can use whatever the Dark Gods feel like. 3nodding Definately - I half thought about that for my special weapons troops, really. I'm so indecisive. And for the record, I was straight Iron Warriors until this Word Bearers thing hit me. rofl Damn ordanace marines.

A.R.G.U.S Mykal However, if you do use Grimaldus, then you can use the really cool "Chaos Space Marine backpack with the balls cut in half and then fire put on the tops" like on the really cool beans conversion on a Word Bearer page I saw one time. I finally found this conversion - oddly enough right in front of my face on the GWUS site, under the Word Bearer Legion page. It looks totally sweet. Fabius Bile body, Iron Warrior head, upturned thingydealies. All sweet stuff. I also started looking through the Black Templar stuff, in relation to Grimaldus, and that's all awesome too. I think I'm going into conversion overload. Just gotta stick to the basics. Can't have everything. ...definately using the torch-backpack though. razz

You can't have everything my arse.
You can have whatever you want. The more you have, the more versatile your army can be when you come to battle. Have 2 or 3 different HQs for when you come up to something. If not, why not just have display pieces, and donate them to your local GW for a while?

You can have whatever you want. The more you have, the more versatile your army can be when you come to battle. Have 2 or 3 different HQs for when you come up to something. If not, why not just have display pieces, and donate them to your local GW for a while?

I collect Black Legion only cause I can realisticly play a force with Abaddon in it. Mind you most people that field demon units in an undivded army go for Bloodletters. Not me I am going for Plaugebearers just to be out of the ordinary. Plus I think they work better for me than Bloodletters. Mind you I have been seriously thinking about collecting an Emperors Children force. Just so that I have a themed force cause they seem to be rare nowadays.
