How so Joe I'm thinking of what Sarah said... I only started playing sax a week ago, but I have a yamaha alto, I forget the model., but I really really like it. Seriously, it is so very different to my clarinet, but I reallyreally do love my sax that love is watching someone die... i currently have a beginner yamaha, which is really good until it's old, and now mine sucks. but i ordered my new yamaha custom z (black!) and i'll get it this upcoming week!

Just wondering, what are some good ways to excercise your embochoure? (can't speel sweatdrop )
Also, I'm considering switching from my alto to the bari (I played my friends the other day and admittadly very much enjoyed it). Just a random side comment.

Humori Band camp was last week, and the clinictionist kept telling me to fix my mouth, to produce a better sound.. Any tips? And my mouth gets really sore after a while, help? Are you scrunching your chin up or something? My director tells me to think of pulling a string in my chin to keep it pulled down and straight. I hope that helps, I don't know what exactly you're doing wrong without seeing you play. To produce a better sound, just blow more air through the horn faster. With your mouth getting really sore, I don't know how to help. Just keep working, I guess. I'm usually sore after a two-hour band class.

I play the alto and tenor. I started with the alto but I switched to the tenor last year so we could have equal sax parts, two tenors and two altos... And so the other tenor wouldn't be all by himself... I wanna try the soprano and/or the contrabass. The contrabass is like 6 ft tall! Has anyone ever seen one? You can fit a tenor in it's bell!!

I'm new here i played the alto but i switched to a tenor. My director thinks that if you get a a small staw and suck a milk shake with it that you already tighten your mouth. That may help.

Your mouth probably hurts because you're trying something new and they're not used to it. If you practice a bunch it should go away smile

I love the saxophone.
I've only been playing for a year, though... and the saxophone I have hasn't really done my any good seeing as it's really screwed up.
I'm hoping to buy me a new one with my upcoming graduation money! smile
