"Surprisingly well. No dreams for once," he murmured in a low tone, his voice sounding much more scratchy than normal as if he hadn't used it in a while. Looking up slowly, Haar tried ard not to look the older woman straight in the face. Although she didn't look like she was old enough to be the mother of a teenager, the fact that she was caring for him made the commander feel oddly...young. He had felt many things over the past ten years and young definitely wasn't one of them.

And yet, here... he felt is age, almost. His age minus a few years. He felt... He felt...

Lowering his head, the brunette continued in the same cracky voice, coughing a few times to clear his throat in an attempt to get rid of the roughness before starting once more, "You're letting me leave soon, right?"

Allora paused for a moment, thinking. She had removed her hand from the other's forehead and had begun to check other things - how was his breathing rate? his pulse? was his skin paler than usual? - but most of all she checked over the wounds. A frown grew prominent on his pink lips as she continued to examine him. "Depends on your deffinition of soon..." she said somewhat evasively. From what she had seen of Haar, he certainly did not seem the type to sit around for any period of time.

"A week to be on the safe side, although I expect you've lost that one already.... So all you have is the danger side and the evern worse side - danger side being about four days with chances of reopening and infection and worse side being any time before that with chances of pretty much deffinate worsening and infection..." she said slowly. She looked up then, her dark, satiny gaze meeting Haar's. Despite the difference of color, her gaze was surprisingly like her son's - unwavering, determined and slightly fierce. "If you choose the worse side, you would naturally have high chances of dying and possibly be bed-ridden for a month, minimum. But to stop you from choosing that, I've decided that if I catch you even trying to leave within the next five days, I'll be tying you down myself," she said, he beamingly bright smile contradicting her ominous words.

"But you would never choose such a risky option, right, Steven?"

((Mmmm... I wanna start the widwinter festival some time... Let's just say the current day of the RP is Thursday and the festival starts Saturday, running on for a full three weeks.))

"A week?" He would have usually expressed the outburst in his head, not showing any sort of shock or emotion on the outside... Maybe he was more tired than he realized, or something along those lines because not only had the thought come forth but his expression was one that of pure disbelief. How... How was he going to get Peyton? He wouldn't know what had happened to him? He wouldn't be able to ship off Xel's papers to the ice nation. He wouldn't be able to fulfill any of his usual daily duties. The very thought of be forced (again) from his way of life horrified the young man.

"I can't...be sitting around for a week. I'm highly appreciative of all you've done for me and...but-..." He was in the process of spazzing and trying to think of an appropriate excuse to leave at the same time. It wasn't the easiest thing to do and from past experiences Haar knew whatever excuse he gave would never be good enough. He lowered his head with a sigh, stretching out his legs with a frown. "Can I strike up some sort of deal with you?" He asked, glancing upwards with an almost...apprehensive expression, red eyes wary. "I know...I may not be the most...acceptable person to nobles such as you, but if I stay here and rest as long as you see fit, could you-" Swallowing thickly, Haar turned his eyes eleswhere, "-stop inviting suitors to visit Alti?" He wasn't sure how convincing his act was, but he hoped that as long as the woman thought there was something between her son and him that he might as well try to make the poor kid's life a little better even if it meant he had to lie a bit more than usual.

Allora looked almost as if she were about to burst out into tears, her hands raising to convuslively cling together at her heart. "Why, of course!! The moment I found you two were together I cancelled all his escorts for the festival." She looked overly touched, like any spazzing, day-dreaing teenage girl might - except she was obsessing over the pairing of her son and not herself.

She sighed delicately. "You don't know how long I've waited for this day - the day when he would finally find someone nice and just fall in love already. As long as the heart's in it, anyone's fit," she said happily.

Escorts? As in...plural? Dear god this boy had it bad.
Keeping all his thoughts inside his head, the young man mustered up a smile which came out merely as a curl of his lips, an amused sort of expression.

Bracing himself against the wall, Haar stood up slowly, flexing his fingers before turning red eyes upon the overly interested woman. "I wish more people had that attitude," he murmured with a sullen look. "It's not exactly...kosher for higher ranking officers to have relationships with anyone much less with a foreigner," he explained, rubbing at his scar for a moment or so before turning to glance at the proposed object of his affection. He really did feel bad for Alti.

"It's just hard to really...be with someone when you're having to hide it."

[[Oh Haar, you little liar. ;w;]]

Allora smiled indulgently and wiped insipient tears of happiness from her eyes. "Yes..." she sighed, beaming. "It is so horrible how society and burocracy tried to crush all flowering loves so that people have to conform to the strict rule of marrying for convenience and status and all such nonsense..." One pale hand raised to brush through her dark hair before she added, "I only ever had tried to find someone nice for him before others tried to marry him off. But this is better - much better."

((*sigh* Allora... She's such a fangirl. xD;;;; ))

Haar winced slightly, he felt a little less than admirable about lying to the woman, especially when she only wanted best for her son (and as far as he could tell he was no where near her standards but that was besides the point).

Brushing dark brown hair from his eyes, Haar frowned. "The royals of the fire nation don't have to abide by such laws anymore, I don't see why their army officials have to," he mumbled, sitting at the end of Alti's bed with a sigh, sneaking a glance at the boy for effect before returning deep red eyes upon the woman. "I think they're just angry with their incompetance to run their own country so they feel they have the right to make those who can have shi- have...lives like hell." It was true that the noble families of the fire nation weren't exactly fit to be leaders or other roles that they always seemed to fall into, but the young commander highly doubted that unseen jealousy was the cause of such a law. It was most likely set in place so that the high ranking soldiers would be focused on the nation's security, etc, and nothing else.

Allora nodded seriously. "I've always thought that the governments - all seven of them - should just give in and let love win. I can't imagine what it must be like for out prince," she said with a delicate sigh, turning her face away ever-so-slightly to add that dramatic, worrying house wife affect.

"Anyway... enough with that... what really matters is you and Alti," she said, suddenly beaming. "I mean... it was ever such a surprise - but a pleasant one - when I found you two to be... Well, I mean, I did suspect something when he never came home after that party, but... but not this. This is so much more wonderful than anything I could think of!!" she exclaimed happily, clapping her hands together softly.

Brown eyes kept straight forward as Xel pressed a steady hand against the mage's lower back. "Why must you torture me?" He hissed into Ceris's ear, leaning his forehead against the smaller man's temple for a moment before continuing. "Did you fail to realize this is my first night back from being in almost complete exile?" He asked, noting that Ceris seemed to be ignoring him. "Do you know how long I've dreamed of-"

Grey-purple eyes skimmed the ground. "I'm sorry," he whispered back, looking up briefly, relishing in the surprised expression on his scruffy knight's face. "We'll have...all night together after dinner," he added with a most innocent grin, purple hair framing his matured features as he glanced up at Xel. The comment seemed to appease the green haired man, for his expression softened and Ceris could tell he was fighting off a smile and possibly a laugh.
[[Awww<3@Haar]]

Oblivious to the contents of the exchange between the two behind him, Ruehl lifted his hand to press against a dark cherry wooden panel of the dining room door. Upon entering, he then let his hand linger on the door to hold it for his guests.

"Please," he made a gesture toward the set places at the table. He moved to take his seat as well.

"So..." he began, pulling his napkin into his lap and smiling at Ceris. As the meal was brought out and set before each of them, he began back into their prior conversation. "I apologize for what happened in the garden, once again. Were you going to ask me something?"

Dark eyes moved over to look at the boy behind him before returning to the puddle at his feet. His fingers tightened over the cloak in his hand and he nodded, backing away. Leading the way, he exited the room and started back up the stairs, checking over his shoulder frequently to make sure that the diplomat was still right behind him.

"Sayael!" he called urgently, reaching the deck. "We've got to tell you... there's water in the cabin!"

This is so much more wonderful than anything I could think of!!" she exclaimed happily, clapping her hands together softly.
Haar was, indeed, beginning to feel worse and worse about lying to Allora.

Running a hand through brown hair in a nervous fashion, the young man mustered up a small half smile before explaining, "Well, it's not as if... I don't- I don't really know how h feels about me, but there's something there that's for sure. I just wanted to make sure I didn't give you the impression that we're madly in love or something like that," he murmured with a distracted sort of expression.

Turning red eyes towards the sleeping teen, Haar frowned softly, "What...was wrong with him exactly, anyway?"
PostPosted: Sun Nov 26, 2006 12:29 pm

Allora nodded sensibly. Of course... she couldn't expect anything of that sort (not yet, anyway. But if it took too long, she could always make a love concoction or something else equally annoying). She paused a moment before answering the other's question. "Hmm... well, how to put it? It's nothing overly horrible or anything... But he over-worked himself and drained his magical energy. He doesn't use magic very often because, well... how to say? His tutors always said he had potential, but didn't seem to ever do very well at magic... In fact, I'm surprised he managed to teleport the two of you all the way from the... the Kingdom of Death, was it?" She barely seemed to pause to draw breath. "Well, anyway, he overworked himself into a feaver. He has a weak thymus gland, you see, and is easily prone to sickness because his tollerance for illnesses is very low. He probably just stressed his bodies defenses out enough for a flu or something to get him sick. And when he does get sick, he never tells me!!" she exclaimed, a soft frown on his lips. "It's almost as if he doesn't want me to make him better...."

[[Omglovepotion. XD I think Ruehl would kill Haar if he showed interest in anyone but himself. :D HMMMM~ INTERESTING.]]

"Eh, Ceris tries not to heal me everytime I get sliced up. He says thats it's better for the body to just go ahead and do things on its own and if possible only to heal wounds and such in an extreme moderate fashion. He's such a mother hen though, he doesn't always listen to his own advice," he explained with a thoughtful expression, leaning his elbows against his knees slowly in order to not rip open anything.

"Maybe...he heard of that theory and decided to try it out," Haar added with a soft frown. It was hard to work through a sickness or a bad gash without huge amounts of magic but people had done it before and the commander figured that whatever you lived through on your own could only make you stronger.

Looking up for a moment, the young man continued, "You think you have...anything for me to change into?" He asked, well aware that anything Alti's size would unfortunately be much too small. The teen was much more slender as well as a good couple of inches shorter than he, but he was itching to get out of his blood-caked clothes so anything really would be better than the clothes he was wearing right then.

"Yes, well...." Allora seemed a little flustered. It had been her mother who instigated that theory (although it had been around for quite some time before that... she had only really inforced it) and she had never been very fond of it. "But it would be best to have it out in the open so that, should things turn bad, I can be there for him in a moment's notice!!" she said, wide-eyed. "Well... anyway, us talking about this won't change anything, but..."

She seemed to go on until Haar's request finally seemed to register in her mind. "Pardo--? Oh, yes, clothes, hmmm... Well, I..." She frowed, eyes scanning the other for a moment, before she stood up and bustled out the door. "I'll go get something."

Only moments later, she was back with what seemed to be the contents of an entire wardrobe. "I couldn't decide on my own - well, I have my favorites, of course, but one really must see the material on the person before judgement is made. Although... Well, I'd have to say this shirt would match your eyes ever so stunningly and with that, this belt and these boots are best... and these pants are a must!!" She continued to ramble on about clothes, positively flinging the garments all over the room until she had come to a decision.

"There," she said, smiling at her selection of clothes. The discarded garments and had folded themselves neatly and arranged themselves in a pile on the bed. "That should do it. But you should bathe first..."

[[I love her. XD]]

Haar looked almost alarmed at the very idea. "Eh..." Swallowing thickly, the young man ran a hand through his hair before rubbing at his scar lightly out of mere nervous habit. "Ah, I...do you really think so?" He asked, knowing that the woman's answer would be an overly excited approval.
