Lord Edegaru KogaP Lord Edegaru KogaP Lord Edegaru Meeting? I didn't know those happened in here. Yeah, like once a week I have a meeting with the moderators about the guild and ways to improve activity and the overall enjoyment of the guild for all members and get people to move in the direction of a general plot while doing their own thing. Wow. Here I thought we were all just scrambling over stat points. Hehehe. Lol, come on Ed. You should know me by now. I always have a plan A, B, C, and D. Never can be too cautious with rps, especially with the popular things I have to keep competing with. Although scrambling over stat points is kind of bad, the point is to make you want to achieve a certain level of power and eventually one day die with honor and do it all over again. I can see we have a lot to compete with all the RPG demand out there. Personally, after playing dozens of RPGs, I never reach the maximum level and there will always be someone stronger. When I realized that, I saw that the game had become more a labor than a game. Like watering your plants or mowing your lawn. It becomes more about leveling up than whatever the story or theme of the RPG is. Eventually, leveling up runs the passion dry and you end up paying for items and weapons to make you stronger than your less fortunate competitors. I don't want to sound like I'm tearing everything down, because there's has been a lot of work put into this guild, but look at the latest poll. How many go for the stat point and qi option and how many go for another class or some other option? It shows that stats reign over story in the mind of these players. Most of those are new role players and those players whom don't post often and think they can't compete with the older members or members who post about 1k per post. I mean, I have thought about allowing this Qi/Stats combo over and over, but the thing is, people would just get lazy and then double points would vanish because I wouldn't want to give people so many bonuses in the guild. I mean, I love helping all the members out, but I can't have too many freebies.

If we are talking about MMO's and RPG games- those both get slammed if the story sucks... People love lore-rich games. Which is why, games like Witcher, FF series, and even mmo's like WoW tend to stick around.
But to get to your point- People would actually be fine in stats/qi if they were posting fairly frequently : > Iggy may be the strongest but its because Koga's putting in the work to get him there.

I don't know if I'd go that far and say Iggy is the strongest. But I'm really picky about where my parameters are placed and how often I update my Qi. I tend to update my Qi based off of how fast I run out during battles. If I reach 50% of Qi before a certain period of time, I tell myself its time to update Qi. There isn't a point of having powerful hitting attacks if you can't use them more than once. Also being a Tamer/Aria, I'm Qi heavy, so a lot of my combat is based off of Qi.

Yes, he has a time limit before he'll fall off. But- god help you to reach his limit.
I think there are a number of people falling into his tier, it'll be interesting to see if it grows or not.

Well you think people go for the story but playing those games, I couldn't think of worse stories. Koga is strongest, mostly because of his time invested but the advantage doesnt stop there. What better advantage could you have than the creators mind? I'm not complaining, you'll never hear.me complain even when odds stack against me. Its just hard to imagine a story that isn't dictated by stat points which is dictated by the ones with the most time on their hands. No matter how good a characters personality is or what skills he might have, if his stats are less than mediocre, he's no more relevant than any NPC.

Ed, there have been a few times were stats have been ignored and the person in question wasn't called out about it and allowed to do as s/he wanted.
Also- If your expecting novel-esque stories from games.. Your looking in the wrong place >w< game stories are meant to be short because no body got time to play through all that while still keeping interest. They are like disney movies- just long enough to keep your interest. But all the games I mentioned have something many others dont: LORE, thats what keeps a lot of people in love with something-its especially true for MMOs- And I totally understand some don't care for it/know about it. I know that, I've played in probably all the mmo "circles" in gws1. They all have different reasons to keep playing, but trust me when its like the tenth time you're running a certain dungeon in a day- playing the same role as the runs before- you're not really watching your character, you just check you didn't get body blocked every once in a while, check stuff when you know it could be hairy. But after that you're bored looking at the scenery, every once in a while you may see a hidden easter egg or something interesting that you know is related to the lore of the race/or history of the dungeon or some artifact that has been stolen away and stashed in the dungeon or whatever. Makes it fun, because you're really not killing whoever because its the "good" thing to do- you really want the s**t that he drops. Even in PvP- there are small things you can find, because lets be real if you do a lot of pvp: when you see the names load in you know pretty well what to expect.. :<
I'm done venting about this though >w<;

I think your talking about a completely different type of gamer. Perhaps not even a gamer at all and just a casual player. The gaming industry isn't built on short stories, item hunting and quests. Its built on strong stories where the player falls in love with the character and joins him on his journeys. Games like metal gear solid, assassins creed, mass effect, uncharted. These aren't for people who don't have time but foe those who can take the time to continue through a deep story and enjoy the game play, which is not some simple animations covered in numbers and flashing colors. Detail is much appreciated from the environment to facial expressions to what you can do. Its even more about what you can do with your friends than trying to reach the next level.

That number Koga rolled is the number of enemies in a given area, correct? If so, I'll be rushing to assist you with your 900+ as soon as I finish my 300+ in the courtyard. Gotta work together, right?

Gotta work together, right? Correct, you then roll 5 twenty-sided dice to determine how many you will kill. The next post being the "response" to the number rolled.
And yeah, it helps to work together. ^ ^ You get through the masses faster. I just went to the one that would be closest to where my character was at >w<;

Does Koga respond at all, or is it all just me doing appropriate damage and taking appropriate hits?
