Who knew someone could be so dextrous with their feet?

It was still a lesson n balance for Mort, however, has he struggled to continue chipping away at his piece.

This time he slashed a claw down the same line he had made before. The bit of black horn cracked a little more, dust and ash swirling around Ren's feet. There were other sounds nearby, but he could not tell who or what they were, and did not care to.

It seemed some of the students were chipping off pieces of the remains, and he added his own efforts, attempting to break off a piece of his own. He supposed that it could seem disrespectful, in a way, but in his mind, he would just be taking it back where it belonged. Back home.

And then he could figure out what he would do with it.

Christof shifted Barth in his grip as he watched Calder quietly place his pin.

If Christof was nothing else, he was respectful of his elders. For the most part. It was ingrained. With his own somber expression, he stepped forward, gently reaching into his pocket as he stared at the massive now decorated skull.

He stared at the pin in his palm, brows knit. What good would it do? Was it even safe to leave these just sitting around? She had been a professor... not his favorite teacher, what with the maiming that usually went on in his class but... she was a part of the school. A part of his new home that was gone now.

We are Halloween and We Can Never Die.

Did that mean....?

He gingerly reached forward to place his own Pin next to Calder's.

There was a problem with feet: Mort was trying to create a tangible memory, but feet are not good at creating things. Feet are usually a lot better at destroying.

And destroy they did.

The zombie blankly stared at the ash he was about knee high in - at the ash covering his entire body when parts of the remains fell apart above him. He was only making it worse . . .

But Mortimer wasn't going to give up. That wasn't the zombie way. That wasn't his way.

Slowly but surely he began to separate his own pile of ashes from the rest. He was taking something back, whether it was bone or ash. It didn't matter that the ashes looked like he could have obtained them from anywhere - he would know. And that would be all that mattered.

The problem would be how to pack the ash into his backpack without arms. Ooooooh Jack.

The first piece turned to ash as he hit it, and he made a note to not hit it as hard this time.

That had gone better, and a piece was beginning to get loose. He tapped it again, attempting to loosen it more.

((Entering from Couch))

Fitzy drifted slowly, oh so slowly, into the place that all of the two leggers seemed to be gathered. He knew this wasn't his place, that it wasn't his moment. He knew that the two leggers were all very upset, and that it was probably over their fallen warrior, among other things. But if The General thought that she had been somebody great, then Fitzy wanted to be able to see her for himself...and he didn't know how long this room would be open for him to enter, as the house seemed to have a mind of it's own and opened and closed areas off on a whim.

He eyed the two leggers warily as he floated by. He had lost any will that he'd had to try and drive them out of the house. It seemed many of them were leaving on their own..and that was good, wasn't it? The Boo's could finally have their house back! But in a way...he would miss them. They weren't so bad, after all.

As he came closer to the gray-scale area full of ash, broken skull, and bone, he paused. Green eyes swept the area, and he saw the tokens that the two leggers had left behind. He just couldn't stop thinking The General thought she was great... And if this skull was any indication of what she had once been, she had been a fearsome creature, certainly! (Obviously he had no idea what she had been before she'd become the behemoth)

Fitzy glanced from side to side, hurriedly. He was very worried that the two leggers would take his presence here as an insult, and that they would drive him away before he could do as he intended to do. When it looked as though they were too absorbed in their own grief or console to even notice him there, he floated closer to the skull, and muttered. "I'm sorry it had to end like this..." He had just wanted the two leggers out of the house, he didn't mean for any of them actually be destroyed, let alone their leader.

Quickly now, before anybody could stop him or see what he was doing, he unfastened the star medal that The General had given him. "You deserve this more then I do..." He said, quietly, and placed the medal among the other tokens that the two leggers had left behind.

The other Boo's might scorn him for the action, but he felt what he'd done had been right, and that The General would be proud of him. Now, before he could be noticed or accosted (because he still felt the two leggers may treat him with hostility after everything that had happened) he darted back towards the door to the couch room.

It was over. They were leaving. And now Fitzy could rest.

Gargantuan was uttering an odd, eerie note throughout his entire form, his body quaking from the sheer force of it. The swamp monster was mourning, keening and rocking from side to side even as he shuffled closer to the enormous skull. For a moment, he only pressed himself against its surface, leaning into the bone as though somehow, that would be able to bring Red back. She had to come back.

But no. She had died. For him. For everyone.

He heard Roch calling for him, but he only keened louder, summoning forth the pin he had never given before in order to allow it to join the others.

Then, quietly, he reached up to touch the horn on the massive skull, his thick fingers curling around it. Why had she had to leave them? Why?

He would try one last time, and if it didn't work, he would return home, keeping this only in his memories. He had enough art skills to draw a sketch of the scene, one that would be stuck his head for a while.

He kicked at the back plate again, trying to break off a piece.

It was successful, and he did it again kicking the back plate carefully. It was interesting, and sad, how everyone was reacting, and he wondered just who was going to break the news to the rest of the school? The boogeymen maybe? How would those who didn't go react?

Something cracked and splintered off. Ren's hand shot out just in time to catch the piece of horn in his palm, his hands shifting back into his normal ones.

Such a small, insubstantial piece, he thought, staring down at the blackened, broken horn.

This is all that's left of you, Professor Red.

His eyes felt strangely damp, and were perhaps oddly light if one looked close enough in the musky grey darkness, but Ren carefully stood, brushing off his pants. He started to walk away - then stopped a few feet away, moving back and kneeling down again.

The beast felt, suddenly, like it would be important to keep a piece of the beloved Professor with him. He tugged a little harder on the sleek, obsidian piece of horn on the massive skull. He didn't really want to hurt the skull, though, so he wasn't using his full strength.

Night moved away from Simone to come to the ashes of their teacher and peered down. It wasn't fair to see her here, like this. Halloween should never die, so he knew Red would live on with them all. He sighed as he bent down, Feeling rude for taking a piece of her, but this event would scar him. He wanted something to remember her by.

He found a rock and with a single tear, found a spot on the horn.

Just a little bit more, and it would be off.

He kicked the piece a little too hard, and it once again turned into ash. That was it then, no memorial for him, but at least he ahd tried, even if he hadn't been able to help fight in whatever battle had taken her out in.

Perhaps that had been for the best, he wasn't the best fighter to begin with, even one of the weird little ghosts had beaten him. "I swear I will become a better fighter, Professor. That I will do my best so that you didn't die in vain."

It would have to do.
